How do I get "&goto=newpost" implemented

When I get a subscription email it always goes to the first post. Where do I change it to go to the last post in the thread?

I get this:
This thread is located at http://www.site.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1237

I want this:
This thread is located at http://www.site.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1237&goto=newpost

If the email has this line in it - " This thread is located at http://www.site.org/forum/showthread.php?t=1237" Then search for the a phrase containing the text "this thread is located at".
