View Full Version : Moderators Functions - Auto Move Closed Threads

05-03-2008, 10:00 PM
Modification Title: Auto Move Closed Threads
Compatibility: 3.7
Tested On: 3.7 GOLD

What does the modification do?

This allows the Administrators to select a single forum for all closed threads to be moved too after a moderator decides to close the thread. The AdminCP options allows this modification to be enabled/disabled on individual forums.

This is useful if you always want closed threads to be moved to a trash forum.

Coded by request:

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=65905

** This currently does not work with inline moderation (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/inline_moderation), but may be included in the near future.

Install Process:

Products (1)

Just import the product xml file via the AdminCP.

Install Time: Quick, < 1 minute

Notes:

*The moderator will be given an error if you select the destination forum as a forum that can not contain threads (IE: Categories)*

Please click Install (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/vborg_miscactions.php?do=installhack&threadid=132462) if you use this modification. :)

Modification History:

Well this automatically moves the thread...if people would prefer a chose after a thread is closed with a simple Yes/No option, I could probably implement it.

Would it be possible to implement a time frame? Like for an example, after thread X is closed, it will wait 1 day, then move thread X to forum Y ?

Thank you :)

Is the modification enabled? Is the forum in which the thread is located enabled via the settings?

Are you closing threads via inline moderation? As noted in the OP, the hack doesn't function yet for inline moderation.

Mrdby
05-22-2008, 07:04 PM

Mrdby

Danny, can you add this to the main post to explain what Inline Moderation actually is in terms of VBulletin. I myself have no idea what it meant. (Or just link the term to the VB topic (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/inline_moderation))

Thanks and nice mod :)

I'm extremely busy ATM, so no updates will be made for quite a while. Allowing a forum to have a specific archive forum is possible, but it'd have to be done in the forum manager, of course.

Dear Danny,

I'm another one using your hack and loving it! That idea would be perfect specifying with forums should have automated closing/moving threads to which forums we decide using the forum manager.

That would make this hack PERFECT!

Let me give you this example:

I have iTrader on my board and users are able give feedback for the trades only when the respective classifieds are closed and moved to the archive forums.

So I have three (3) different classified ads sections: "Buying" (forumid=7), "Selling" (forumid=8) and "Trading" (forumid=9)

And I have three (3) different archive sections to move the ads when the trades are over:
"Bought" (forumid=10), "Sold" (forumid=11) and "Traded" (forumid=12)

Right now, and because your hack only works in a single forum, the "Selling" forum is the only one with the automated close-and-move, but as you can see, it would be PERFECT to be able to use this hack via the Forum Manager, setting which "classifieds-forum" would be archives in which "archive-forum".

Also, there is this project of mine, that is to make a complete archive of ALL the ads and closed ads that no longer need to be visible to all the public. So, using a timed-rule, every single post that has more than 'X' days, would go automatically to the archive-forums.

How about that? :p ;)

Ok... So, when possible...! ;)

Ill wait for these two to be added before i install this. I prefer having an archive with sub sections as well. Not just a monthly archive where everything is there. And the thing about closing while outside the thread. Means he can close the threads while in the section and not the thread. Useful for archiving. Other than that, great mod!

works on 4.2 BUT when close thread get:

The thread has been successfully {1}. You are now being taken to the thread.

When open back it says Open instead of {1}... where should I look?

UPD: Got it! In plugin Move Thread with close change
eval(print_standard_redirect('redirect_openclose', true, true));
with:
eval(print_standard_redirect(array('redirect_openc lose',$action), true, true););
