Cyb - Advanced Permissions Based on Post Count

Info:
This product allows you to set permissions based on user?s post count for:
-viewing forum (threads listing),
-viewing threads content,
-creating new threads,
-replying to threads,
-viewing attachments,
-Viewing/Posting links/images and e-mail addresses,
-sending private messages,
-sending e-mails,
-posting Visitor messages
-viewing Albums
-creating new Albums
-posting Picture comments
-viewing Social Groups
-creating new Social Groups
-posting Group messages

This will disallow members with no permissions to view forums/threads/posts/links through normal view, printthread, search, archive*, thread preview. Note that you can set Forum/Thread Permissions for each forum/sub-forum separately. Screenshot shows additional options in Forum Manager and error messages shown to user when trying to view restricted area.

*-When you set in some forum "Minimum Post Count To View Thread Listing In This Forum" option to different value than "0" guests will not be able to see thread listing in that forum through Archive. For logged-in users this function works normally regarding user's post count.

How it works and why it's better than vB Promotions system...
First of all it's very easy to use.

Forum is shown on forumhome but if you have no needed post count you'll see lock icon and predefined error message when try to access. When you set this via vB Promotions system forum is hidden on forumhome and you must create additional usergroup to make all this working.

When user collect needed amount of posts he will be able to access protected forum immediately. When you set this via vB Promotions system then user must wait until Promotions task is executed ... then he will be able to access protected forum. How much time user must wait it depends on settings in AdminCP/Scheduled Tasks... and if you set this to run every minute it pushes your server. If you set it to 2 or more minutes then user must wait more and more... and nobody like it.

Unless mentioned by the developer, you don't need to uninstall it. Just import the new product and check the overwrite option while doing so. Also, make sure that you replace the old files (if any) with the new one.

I want to have a different error message displayed in the postbit when unregistered users are not allowed to view attachments, but once registered, can view thumbnails. Right now 'error_postcount_too_low_attachment' is being used for both cases.

I've made it as far as editing Cyb - APBOUPC - P4 (PD) to use 'error_postcount_too_low_attachment_postbit' and I've created the phrase, but I'm getting the error in the postbit that 'error_postcount_too_low_attachment_postbit' does not exist.

What am I missing?

The redirect to smilies only happens if you are not set up as the main administrator (the same ID as the one set in the vBulletin configuration file). It does not affect the functionality at all.
If you want to set global permissions just make sure you have the same ID as the one used in config. If you just want to set the permissions on a few forums and not right across the lot, then just go ahead and don't worry about the smilies redirect.

Could you add the ability to input a number of posts and how long you get edit the post. This is because, I want to set a limit for new members, but if a user has X posts, then they can have longer to edit their post...stops spammers!

This is a great modification and one I have been using for awhile. I noticed something today that seems to be something I can't fix. I have mine set to restrict the posting of links/e-mails, etc. until the member has 10 posts. However, someone with only 1 post was able to add a link to their signature. I thought the restriction for posting links also restricted signature links. Is that not true? If not, how can I modify this add-on to not allow signature links until a certain amount of posts are made?

Please help. This is the exact error I am receiving for another completely different modification. In my instance, it is happening for GARS. This all started back when CSRF protection was added. I don't know much about CSRF protection but I have noticed that several modifications recently had it implemented.

Hi. I installed this mod yesterday on my forums (the version for 3.6) and I have had to uninstall it since problems arose. My members are still having the same problems, even with it being gone.

Any ideas? they are saying they can not use new posts/search, or see some forums. Some even when they do new posts they can only get to the forums that way. Also, a few of them can't use any smilies, etc. It's weird. I uninstalled the product completely and it's still not having my members do a few things.

Had to uninstall. It has been working for a long time - maybe a year. I made a bunch of changes to my forum this am and it stopped Starting New Threads when someone reported a post. See Report Post starting a new thread stopped working.

I was making some changes in my forum this morning and I changed the forum I had specified in vBulletin Options > User Infractions and Post Reporting Options to start a thread in a different forum than what I had it set for. I had it set to start a new thread in my 'super moderators' forum and changed it to the 'moderator's' forum. When I changed the destination forum the software stopped starting a new thread - period. I changed back to the forum I did have it set to start a new thread in but it still won't start a new thread when someone reports a post as it did before.

It still sends emails like it should (I have it set for admins, super mods and mods to get emails). It just doesn't start a new thread.

Do any of you have any ideas? The board is rather heavily modded, but everything was working up until I made that change this morning. Is there any setting / permissions that anyone is aware of that could cause this? Is there anything that would conflict with this function?

I have a test account and tried to see if reporting a post from different user groups and forums made any difference and neither the user group of the reporter or the forum the reported thread is in make any difference.

Now, I did change some things in several of my forums permissions this morning, but I don't see anything there that should interfere with the Report this Post starting a new thread in a forum set in the vBulletin Options > User Infractions and Post Reporting Options settings. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!

I want to have a different error message displayed in the postbit when unregistered users are not allowed to view attachments, but once registered, can view thumbnails. Right now 'error_postcount_too_low_attachment' is being used for both cases.

I've made it as far as editing Cyb - APBOUPC - P4 (PD) to use 'error_postcount_too_low_attachment_postbit' and I've created the phrase, but I'm getting the error in the postbit that 'error_postcount_too_low_attachment_postbit' does not exist.

What am I missing?

The redirect to smilies only happens if you are not set up as the main administrator (the same ID as the one set in the vBulletin configuration file). It does not affect the functionality at all.
If you want to set global permissions just make sure you have the same ID as the one used in config. If you just want to set the permissions on a few forums and not right across the lot, then just go ahead and don't worry about the smilies redirect.

I think it's a bad idea telling them how many posts they need. They just spam that many posts and edit each one to what they weren't allowed before.

I tell them they need a minimum number of posts now.

This is not working with emails - users with 0 emails somehow are able to send private messages and bother existing members. Does anyone else use this to prevent members who have less than X number of posts from using the private message or emailing system? Also trying to prevent profile comments as well, which I think can be controlled in the main panel. This is something I need greatly and may have to hire a programmer in the event this cannot be fixed. I don't think another plugin is a problem and would patch the php code just to prevent users with less than X emails from messaging.

I have Post Links/Images/e-mails restrictions set to 10 posts required but I tested with an account with 1 and I can still post attachments with it. I don't see any other restrictions for attachments other than viewing.

I have at the beginning the same bug when setting permissions for the whole forums being redirected to smileys FAQ page. After some short time it worked. Did not do something special...

When I have tried to modify setting for all forums I have receive warning that operation cannot be undone. What this means?
I will not be able to change the settings I made ? What is the thing that cannot be undone?

I did have tested with new account and it did still show attachments when I have set it to disallow. Even sending PM did work and was set to not work.

Perhaps i have misconfigured this plugin but I have set it where it requires 5 posts to allow links. I am using the forum as a guest user and able to use BB code for URL without any problems.

Does this plugin have handling for the guest usergroup? We've got our registered users down now between this script and another one to prevent spam but these spammers are now either sending humans to bypass the captcha or their robots are getting by.

The end reult is the same though, guess users with 0 posts are able to use bb code for links.

Any suggestions?

I have the registered user group to make 2 post before viewing attachments. I've activated the option "Allow users to view image thumbnails" so they can see the thumbs but not the actual image.

I've had this installed for some time on my own forum (previously in vBulletin version 3.7x and now in 3.80) with no issues.

However, I recently installed it on two other forums I admin and discovered the following odd bug:

The add-on itself seems to be working fine and I can edit individual forum settings fine. But if I click on settings For All Forums which should go to misc.php?do=cyb_apboupc_setall what I get instead of the settings page is the forum smilies page. One of these forums uses vBSEO but the second does not (no mod_rewrite on the second forum). One is vBulletin version 3.74 and the second is 3.73.

Any idea of what is causing this and a workaround?

However, I have a mixed base of paid and free subs and if a free sub views a paid subs signature with several images in it, the visual experience is not the best. there is only forum (which i m using for cyb auto reply)... whenever a new register click on that section they get a white page with the message that your post is less than 10, and u can not make new thread with link or images...

I ask, for one of the issues we seem to have of late is PM spammers. The will register and then start to send spam via PM usually the same day.

Right now I have it set where a person needs to make 3 posts in order to send a PM, but this also hurts some members who may have been here from some time and may only have a few posts. Example...The classified ad system works on PM and as such the person needs to have made 3 posts in order to send a PM to ask questions or what have you.

So being able to have a check based on date of registration may be nice to go along with this. If Date of Registration is greater than or equal to X days ago. Than allow. (Or something like that.)

People who's post count is 1 or higher gets error message:

To be able to view this section your post count must be 0.

So instead of posting and keeping forums alive they will start deleting old posts.

And when they finally get access to these sections vBulletin notice will appear:

There are no posts in this forum.

We use it as one tool to prevent spam and porn.
We stop our newest users from posting such garbage.

Currently all new registrants are put into the New members group (groupid=2).
We use a promotion scheme to move them into a another group (with greater permissions) after X posts and Y days. The current groupid feature does not handle this. So a feature that would allow us to restrict permissions by user group would be great.

I can only think of a couple ways to achieve that:
A - Offer groupid as an alternate to "post count" to control permissions.
OR
B - Add a "days registered" test to the "post count" test

Would this be feasible in a future release??

In pondering the logic of what you offer, I think there may be a way to achieve a more complex test for increasing permissions using this Mod as is.

STEPS

The groupid setting in this Mod is used to exempt groups from this Mod's post count test(s). Set this to exempt ALL groups except the new registrants group.
Set the post count test in this Mod to some very high number, like 999. This effectively means that his Mod's post count test will NOT be met any time soon.
Set "User Group Promotions" in vB to advance new members out of that usergroup based on your desired activity profile (e.g., X posts, Y days, and/or Z Reputation).That means this Mod will always block links and images for new registrants (only). BUT the vB group config will promote active members out of the new registrants group (groupid=2). At that point they are automatically moved into an exempt group and this Mod's "post count" test will no longer apply.

In effect, I'm using this Mod to restrict permissions for a single, particularly troublesome user group but relying on vB to handle a more complex logic ("post count" and/or "days registered" and/or "reputation") for promoting members to increased permission levels.

Now this is not as flexible as setting unique permission levels for each different usergroup, but this could solve my biggest headache.

I'll try it out.

Guests cant see images. Is there a way to set this so guests can see images? I have the setting to view images at 0 posts but you still need to register to view them.

What would I need to do to to the above code be able to include secondary usergroups in the allowed PM recipient usergroup ID field? As of now you can select primary groups who are allowed to receive PM's (ie site staff) before a user meets the post-count requirement, but the field is useless if you want to add a secondary group id to it.

EDIT: Found something that works for the time being:

You need to turn on the mod before you try, and be sure you are superadmin when you do. Once you turn it on it will allow you to set all rather than take you to the smilies page. When it's turned off it takes you to smilies.

I was fumbling about with it myself when I remembered that that's how CYB's advanced forum rules hack behaves also so I gave it a shot. ;)

first of all I appreciate you work but I found a bug which is very ridicules and it took me couple of hours to find it.
When you have a user with symbols like " or & in his username, your mod is not working!!!!!!!
It's happening only If you send messages to admins and you put a counter limit that all your board users can't send private massages (can send massages only to admins. For example till they get to 150 posts and then they and can send whoever they want).
Dude you killed me, I think I will go to sleep now, I actually started to look in my SQL and do experiments.
So you can't send private massages to admins if an admin has sign in his username, please fix it.
