What are the ideal ways to test upgrade from VB3.6 to VB3.7 ?

I'm referring to make sure the mod/plug-in's still continue to work after the upgrade.

Can i do backup the database and make a copy of the files and setup a test environment in a subdomain?

any how-to or links to steps

Install a WAMP or LAMP on your pc and test locally everything yourself. Then when you are happy, you can upload the revision and upgrade. That's what I do. Never test your live community.
