Ok please someones help me out. Evertime i try and add an avatar, i always get the same message: fialure due to writing issues. What the heck does this mean? And to top that off, it only happens when im signed in as an Administrator. When i go on my member account it allows me to upload or link off to an avatar. This is really strange and i dont know what the prob is. Can someone please help?

It would be nice to see the exact error. Also, do you get any sort of database error along with it? If you turn off your plugins/modifications, does it work then? How about if you create a default vbulletin style and browse the site using that style, can you upload then?

This is the actuall error message:

vBulletin Message
Upload failed due to failure writing temporary file.

i dont understand this. Even when i put default styles it still wont let me. But its just the admin usergroup! the members and other groups can all upload thier avatars

Probably the best place to get help for an error like that is over at vbulletin.com They seem to be experts at these type of issues.

Did you chmod the avatar directory so it could write to it?

yes, i have chmod like 5 times 777. I have done this already multiple times and still nothing works

It seems more of a PHP problem then one related to vBulletin. You could make a support ticket over at vBulletin.com or post in there forums.

If your server is using safe mode, then ensure that you have write access to the Safe Mode Temp. directory.

You guys are suggesting php settings and folder permissions, but if those were not set correctly, wouldn't that affect *all* users, not just the ones in the Administrator usergroup?

GhOsTxX, I'd be interested to hear the solution when you figure this one out.

yes, Lynne, that is correct. But sometimes a stab in the dark can lead to the right answer. ;)

Well, it seems that i whent over a few things and it wasnt just for one group, its ALL users. No one can upload from thier CP or from linking offsite. Also, i was told from a firend that i had to do something with safe mode, but i dont know where this is. also, where is the safe mod temp folder?

That information should be in your PHP Info. Otherwise ask your host.
