Hi all,
I'm looking to have logo designed, and I contacted www.mindsmack.com and they said 1 full at $2000. Now, I think this is a little high, since I only run a tech site offering free help and I don't have a big budget as it is. What price do you think I'm expected to pay, and can anyone point me in the right direction of a good company?

start a contest here: http://99designs.com/ (previously sitepoint.com's contest site)...
you pay low, and you have a ton of logos suggested.. you pick the one that please you most...
mindsmack.com is for professionals.. why pay more when it is not even of your level..

WOW -- looks good! So, I don't need pay up front or anything with them, I can just pick the best logo design?

And I have to pay $39 to even start a contest....

oh, the prices upped lately, it was something like 10$ for a contest before they move... bad for them...
anyway you can calculate that 40$ in your max prize possible... you had a first offer at 2000$, i suppose a 40$ is nothing about this... ;) the fee is supposed to protect you but also the designers ...
this site is a vBulletin, so i do not know why your email is rejected... if you use something like yahoo or hotmail it may reject it to protect the members... i suppose.

These are very interesting links. I would enjoy more links to sites where contests can be entered for a vb skin.
