vBulletin 3.7.0 Release Candidate 2

THIS IS PRE-RELEASE SOFTWARE.
IT IS UNSUPPORTED.

If you are not fully at home with backing-up and restoring your forum, dealing with bugs and regular upgrades, DO NOT INSTALL THIS VERSION

Progress towards vBulletin 3.7.0 becoming our 'stable' version and replacing 3.6.x is going well, and the time has come to put out our second release candidate version.

Any customers currently using any other pre-release version of vBulletin 3.7.0 should upgrade as soon as possible.

What does Release Candidate mean?
Release Candidate, or RC for short, means that we believe vBulletin 3.7 will be ready to be declared a "stable" and "supported" supported release once it has undergone some final testing. The only known bugs that may remain are trivial.

RCs will be released until only trivial bugs are being fixed. Once this happens, the next stage is to move on to "gold" or, as it's officially known, 3.7.0.

This is still pre-release software. If you are not fully at home with backing-up and restoring your forum, dealing with bugs and regular upgrades, do not install this version but rather wait for the final, 3.7.0 version.

Customers should bear in mind that this is a release candidate, not a certified 'stable' release so the following caveats apply:

Pre-release software is unsupported and you install beta and RC versions at your own risk.
Some minor bugs remain unresolved at this time, so pre-release software should not be deployed on production sites.
You should always back up your database fully before attempting to install pre-release software.
If you choose to install this version, you should be aware that we plan to release new RC versions in rapid succession as bugs are fixed and holes are plugged. Do not install this RC version if you are not willing or able to keep up-to-date with new releases.
The ImpEx import system does not support the 3.7 code yet, and will not support it until the release of 3.7.0 (stable).

you did not follow the release timeline rapidphim... 3.7.x serie is a different release from the 3.6... the 3.6.9 you see yesterday is a bug fix for the 3.6 version.

There have been no bug reports for RC2, either. Well, none that I was able to reproduce. All is looking good!

Only one is the FAQ link missing at: faq.php?faq=vb3_board_usage#faq_vb3_thread_tools

It says:

Click here for more information on subscriptions.

But it isn't a link. Same for the polls. You can correct it yourself. It's not major, so I would expect GOLD either in the next release, or the one after.

Regards Jason :)

What is the correction?

Go to:

ACP --> FAQ --> FAQ Manager

Then edit it and put the link there until the next version.

Installed, but what does this fix?

Look in the "Bug Tracker" and see what has been fixed. I can think of a number that have been fixed.

Give this release 1-2 weeks for bug testing and to let some different setups get it installed. Maybe 1 more RC, thats a big maybe. And Gold within a month hopefully.

I like the new photgallery option. Are the photo's stored in the vB database or as files on the server? If they are stored in the vB database, can it easily be configured to NOT store in the DB but rather just as files on the server?

Sorry if I'm asking my question in a completely stupid place, or if it has been answered somewhere else previous and I haven't spotted, or searched it .... No, seriously, I'm losing my eyesight from retinopathy, so IF I have searched for the question and found an answer somewhere, then it's very likely that I haven't read it. ...

What versions of MySQL and PHP is 3.7 gold going to work with?

Thanks in advance...
:-D

I'm running 3.7 and I have PHP 4.4.7 and mySQL 5.0.27, works fine. Although, PHP officially ended support for PHP 4, so upcoming versions of anything should mostly work with PHP 5 arrays.

Not the place for support but:

Please note that vBulletin 3.7 requires at least PHP 4.3.3 and MySQL 4.0.16 or later.

Oh man I want to upgrade so bad!!!!!!

I upgraded my smaller forum and it is working flawlessly but I really am trying to sit on my hands for the larger forum.

Have there been a lot of bug reports for RC2?
