vBulletin 3.6.9

While primary development efforts are concentrated on the forthcoming vBulletin 3.7.0, many of the fixes and improvements that have been made for the new version have also been back-ported into vBulletin 3.6.x. There are now enough of these changes to warrant a 3.6.9 release.

vBulletin 3.6.9 is (for the time being) our newest 'stable' release version for use on production sites. Any customers running a version of vBulletin 3.6.8 or earlier are advised to upgrade to take advantage of the improved stability of the new version, which includes 159 bug fixes (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/projectsearch.php?do=dosearch&projectid[0]=6&issuestatusid[0]=4&addressedmix[addressedversion][0]=66&sort=lastpost&sortorder=desc).

We anticipate this to be the final release in the 3.6.x series before it is superceded by vBulletin 3.7.0.

Here is a short list of some of the bugs addressed in 3.6.9:

22698 Log out killing entered text (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/project.php?issueid=22698)
23300 Moving posts can breaks Hybrid and Threaded modes (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/project.php?issueid=23300)
23354 Invalid recurrence in calendar causes code error (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/project.php?issueid=23354)
22830 Subscription cancellation can cause incorrect behavior (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/project.php?issueid=22830)
Complete List of Bugs Fixed in 3.6.9 (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/projectsearch.php?do=dosearch&projectid[0]=6&issuestatusid[0]=4&addressedmix[addressedversion][0]=-1&sort=lastpost&sortorder=desc)Changed files and mandatory template changes are listed below in this thread.

Upgrading from Previous Versions

3.6.9 is a maintenance release and we recommend that all customers upgrade to benefit from many bug fixes and stability improvements.

No patch or plugin is available to bring previous versions up to 3.6.9 without a full upgrade, as the various changes to implement all the bug fixes represent a large number of changes. To get the fixes from 3.6.9 onto your own board, you must perform a full upgrade.

Full instructions for upgrading vBulletin are available here. (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/upgrade)

PHP and MySQL Requirements

Please note that vBulletin 3.6.x requires at least PHP 4.3.3 and MySQL 4.0.16 or later.

End of Life for PHP 4

The PHP group has announced the end of life for PHP 4. We strongly recommend that customers update their servers to PHP 5.2.5 if they are still running PHP 4. vBulletin 3.6.9 supports PHP 5 without any problems, though you may need to disable strict mode for MySQL, see here (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/editconfig) on how to enable 'force_sql_mode'.

Note: We will continue to support PHP 4 in the vBulletin 3 series.

Download vBulletin 3.6.9

As usual, vBulletin 3.6.9 is available for all customers with valid, active licenses to download from the vBulletin Members' Area.

3.7 rc1 > 3.6.9

Its for boards running 3.6 series, primarily. What you would be doing would be kinda downgrade

This should be a downgrade, not upgrade. Lucky that I have not yet upgraded my board.

One of the reasons why you shouldn't run an unstable release on a live board, this will probably cause headaches for those that have. Though I assume that all the bugs fixed in 3.6.9 would be the same as the ones fixed in 3.7 RC1.

im on vb3.6.8 and i wont be doing a full upgrade as it means all the money ive spent on hacks will be wasted.Cant really be bothered doing it all again.

This is not for 3.7 customers. It's just a lot of bug fixes for 3.6.8.

Regards Jason :)

Create a test install of vBulletin and test all the hacks and everything on there. Most will probably work, and some may just need some minor edits :)

Does this mean RC2 is going to be right around the corner :D Or maybe even a gold release soon!

The status of the vB 3.6 series does not imply anything about the vB 3.7 series...

this will be my forums first big patch since we're new.

I'm worried about installed stuff stopping. Will i have to reimport all my modifications again? or will they just need to be "re tweaked" after?

With minor updates like this, most mods don't need reinstalled, they just might need to have template edits redone.
