Hi guys,
have 2 questions

1. when upgrading from 3.6.8 to 3.7 Im getting this msg
There are currently 16 customized template(s) that need to be updated or reverted. Some sections of vBulletin may not function if you do not do this!

obviously this is referring to all the manual changes I have done to my default template.
I do not want to loose them thus what can I do in order to progress from here (other than writting them up manually again?)

2. same for in case I want to put a new style in my forum as default. What is the best way for all these manual changes to stay without much work.

thanks

Lynne

1. When you look at the list they give you of templates that need to be reverted, just go and Edit the template. Then, start with one template and hit Edit Template. Then, in that screen hit View History. Then, you can compare the current template (your modified one) to the Default vBulletin template for that version. All the changes between the two will be highlighted and you can then modifiy your template to add in all the 'new' features.

2. I like to make Child Styles and then I only have to edit the templates in the parent in order for the changes to be seen in the Child. Sometimes the Child has a couple of changes to the template, but it's easier to keep track of when all the major changes are being done in the parent.

Hi Lynne and thanks but pls bare with a useless guy when it comes to templates.

I do steps described in 1. I select compare and make the new rc2 as new and my old one as old. the comparison will show plenty of changes (obviously). So I have to go trhough and see all the old text marked as removed to identify the code which I had to insert manually (for whichever plugin reasons)....

well i tried a couple and it does work but not for all of them. reason is that there is text marked as removed that i have no clue if it has to do with a plugin/add on modification or it is part of the new version changes.

Is there a better way?

Another way is to have a list of all your plugins and go through each one and add in the template changes to a default style.
