I have been so busy with work I haven't stopped by in a long time.

I actually adapted one of your first versions so much ... I'm scared to try and upgrade ;)

If this has been posted before please ignore... I haven't gone through it all yet. I have been testing caching. I noticed that my BlackBerry was caching an awfully lot on the 3.7 version.

I kept having to refresh when clicking a link. I have added the following META tags to the style and I'm letting it sit for a week or two to get a good test:

*NOTE*: I only added it to the online template, search template and forum home template. I realize that it can slow things down a bit, but having to refresh was getting annoying ;)

I have uploaded a new version (0.0.9) - the only changes is the vBulletin version on the templates.

You can either upload the new version, or edit each template that says it requires updating, and save it again without actually making changes to remove the vBulletin warnings.

Some suggestions:

Have the index page show categories rather than all forums, less scrolling through subforums for users on large forums.
Change the "Rep" reply button to the word "Reply". A lot of our users said that they were confused as to whether this was a "Report" button or "Reply" button.
The "!!" is not intuitive and should probably just say "Report". Minimal screen real estate used in making these extra few characters default.

Apologies - you haven;t done any thing wrong - that's the style, although somewhat reduced in size.

Judging by the fact that the entire forum home is visible on the one screen, I'd guess your iPhone is scaling the page down to make it fit, where it really shouldn't need to. I don;t have an iPhone so can't test but is there an option to automatically scale pages or something similar?

Have you checked ElForros' iPhone style (there's a link to it in the add-on description above) which is designed for specifically for iPhones. It's not well supported, and a bit heavy on bandwidth usage, but looks good.

[Edit: the iPhone may be reducing the page size as no width is set - I'll look into optionally setting the width of the page and see if that looks better]

I don't think there's anything I've installed that would be causing this. The guy that is reporting the error says that it's happening on every page.

Another weird thing that happens on an env2 is you do not stay logged in. You can log in and post, but when the page reloads you are logged out. This is really strange since it works fine on my voyager and it practically the same browser.

I think you may be able to set the page width of your forums in this style for iPhones with 2 template edits.

1. Edit the header template, and add the following at the very beginning:

set the 320px to be the width of an iPhone which I think is 320.

2. Edit the footer template and add the following at the very end:

Try editing the SHOWTREAD template and change this line:

The way I have it integrated is just in vBAdvanced where you can select the pages for it to integrate with. If you don't use vBA, I can give you AdminCP login info to see how it works.

To manually correct bug, edit your footer template and replace

That'd be the PM notifictaion popup causing his error at a guess. What's the error and does this user have a unique device among your userbase? I doubt I'll be able to do much other than remove the pm popup script altogether - this section of code has not been changed from the original vBulletin

If the error bugs them, suggest they turm off "Show New Private Message Notification Pop-up" in "Edit Options" in their usercp.

You could try creating a new plgin on style_fetch called "Disable Hacks for Mobile Style", execution order 6 with the following code:

I am having a issue with the page not reloading to show the post. You have to refresh the page yourself to see it there. Also when I hit new posts it will show a person posted on a thread but when I pull up the thread it doesn't show that person has posted unless I refresh again. Any Idea's? I don't have this problem on my normal site while on the computer.

No, this is an issue only with the mobile site. I did switch the style over to be used on the desktop and it acts fine. I tried switching to the old mobile style and its still an issue. Which is weird, you would think I would be having this issue with the main site on the computer.

Majority of the users love this template, but a few have shown dissatisfaction with the inability to view images.

I've installed this style first on my test forum as I primarily want to use it myself as administrator/moderator when I'm out & about. I haven't yet managed to find any of the moderator functions either inline or via the User CP using this style.

On my other template, I've got CSS to hide the text link, and with the iPhone template I display:none the image via CSS.

By adding a few replacememnt variables with in the mobile style:

Search For: border="0" alt="" />
Replace With: "_blank">Image</a>
Search For: class="inlineimg" />
Replace With: >:-)</a>
Search For: img src="http
Replace With: a href="http

The downside is that you can't show any images in the Mobile style with these in place...

3.7.3 Support?

I know it still works, but it shows 6 templates needing reversion, which has not been the case for this mod (for me anyway) as it came up through 3.7.x revisions.

As with pretty much all updates, it is unlikely that there will need to be code changes to this style unless new features are added which need to be incorporated into it.

All templates have a version number which matches the vbulletin version they were last changed in. When a new release is installed, if templates in the new release have been modified for that release, a warning will be shown for all templates (in all styles) that have an older version number.

As this style (and thus its templates) is so cut back it is unlikely that there will need to be edits made. This is especially the case when there are no "mandatory template changes" (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1614919&postcount=2)

Edit the 6 templates, make no changes, and then save and the warning messages will go away.

We're going to have this issue every other month now that there are scheduled releases.

You could alternatively download and edit the XML and do a search and replace on 3.7.2 for 3.7.3.

So, can't get out of this style on the PC. I see the quickchooser code in the modifyoptions but for some reason it's not showing up. I've toggled the user can change style setting as well and a yes or no doesn't seem to make a difference.

Yes, thats correct - there was no way (that I could find) to remove images without removing smilies without file edits... You can put smilies AND images back in by removing all the replacement variables in the stype options

Go into teh properties of the mobile style, (Style Manager, then click the "Go" button next to the style name) and at the very of this page you'll see teh replacement variables section - delete these.

Save attached XML to your local computer
Save attached wireless.css.txt, rename to wireless.css and upload to your forum root
In AdminCP go to "Styles and Templates"
In the "Import Style XML File" section browse to where you saved the XML
Click "Import" button

Found what might be a bug, or at least something that might be worth fixing - captcha support. Not sure if this crops up anywhere else, but if you have the VB options set to verify guest searches, this template doesn't display the necessary captcha image / form. Therefore when you submit it doesn't give you any results, just dumps you back on the search page.

Also - I've opted to remove the tag cloud from the search page. Tag clouds tend to be quite large, and mobile browsers might not (mine doesn't) display the text at different sizes, making them significantly less useful. Might be worth considering.

Ahh.. captcha. I don't use captcha verification.. I'm suprised this is teh first time I've come across it as an issue. It may be difficult to include *and* keep the style image free. I assume you only have captcha verification for guests, noy registered users? May be able to replace the captcha image with a 'This feature is disabled' type message?

Just had a look over things - Human Verification shouldn't be an issue for question/answer or captcha. I haven't successfully got reCaptcha to work yet though. I'll release an update soon.

I'll make having tag cloud in search pages an option in the add-on for this Style. It can be turned off for all styles in vbulletin options.

I installed tonight on www.caymanclub.net at the request of one of my users. I then tried it out from my PC and I could see the mobile style. I then went to my Samsung BlackJack runnign Windows Mobile 6.1 using Pocket IE and brought up my site, selected the mobile style, but it still keeps showing me my default style. Any ideas?

Dartho everything is looking great.

I have been so busy with work I haven't stopped by in a long time.

I actually adapted one of your first versions so much ... I'm scared to try and upgrade ;)

If this has been posted before please ignore... I haven't gone through it all yet. I have been testing caching. I noticed that my BlackBerry was caching an awfully lot on the 3.7 version.

I kept having to refresh when clicking a link. I have added the following META tags to the style and I'm letting it sit for a week or two to get a good test:

*NOTE*: I only added it to the online template, search template and forum home template. I realize that it can slow things down a bit, but having to refresh was getting annoying ;)

I've not noticed any issues on my own site using PocketIE on a windows mobile device, but it makes sense...

I had the same problem and I noticed that the adv_portal template (likely from vBAdvanced had this code:

Now my Blackberry does not cache anything on my forums but that is a good things as forum content is always changing!

I'm having problems even installing this.

I downloaded everything as stated. I changed the css.txt to remove the .txt. I imported the xml file in product manager...but then it states that "invalid file specified". I've deleted and retried this 5 times now and still cannot get it to work.

It's a style, not a product. You need to install via the Style Manager as per instructions in first post:

Save attached XML to your local computer
Save attached wireless.css.txt, rename to wireless.css and upload to your forum root
In AdminCP go to "Styles and Templates"
In the "Import Style XML File" section browse to where you saved the XML
Click "Import" button
Come back to this page and click "Mark as Installed"

You could copy the CSS from the CSS file and put it in the Additional CSS Definitions section of teh style properties in control panel, then remove <link rel="stylesheet" href="wireless.css" type="text/css" /> from headinclude.

This won't reduce the size, but it may make for faster loading as an additional file request isn't needed? At only 2.5k, I didn;t think it would make much of a performance hit ...

If this makes no difference, I'd be incluned to put it back to how it was.

You may be able to use conditionals with in templates to do this - it's not something that would be specific to the style

You need to select Ignore Version when importing the style. AFter it has imported, you will get a message on your CP home page about out of date templates - it is at this point that you can edit and save teh offending templates without making changes to get rid of the notification

Hello. I just installed this style on my Forum. We have the Project Product AddOn installed as well.

It seems on the mobile device on the index page showing all the forums when a project is displayed the rest of the page is rendered in a small column on the right hand side.

Almost like there is a missing </tr> or something similar.

I wish I could say there are things on the horizon, but I'd be lying. I did the bulk of this style when my family were away for 6 weeks and I had LOTS of uninterupted time. Any updates will be incremental and likely as I need them on my own site. Good thing for you guys is I like to keep my site reasonably current, so if something breaks with the base, chances are I'll fix it.

vBulletin 4.0 is a scary prospect though - I'm kinda hoping Jelsoft do their own mobile version! 695 installs (and double the number of downloads on the css which would imply that upto twice as many sites have actually installed this) is a pretty good case for them to do something! It'd be nice to have a code base top extend and work from... If everything is gonna be CSS driven, it shouldn't be a big leap for a professional designer to do

I tried different domain (same root) to go to my mobile skin, it doesn't work, either.. Sounds like you don't have the style as user selectable - you need to ensure that in Style Manager it has a tick in teh check box next to its name.

Not sure why it is there. I'd say you have an add-on which adds those headers in for each Forum category - it's not this style doing it...

Great style! I have VB 3.8 installed now and I have two questions:

1) I have a custom home page. How do I default mobile user to automatically go to domain.com/forum.php when they go to domain.com please ?

2) I also have VB Blogs installed. It adds 6 blog links at the top of each page. How do I remove them please ?

Sounds like you don't have the style as user selectable - you need to ensure that in Style Manager it has a tick in teh check box next to its name.

Just wondering when you do get to update this skin for 3.8 ^^ if you can add an option to show the last post under each forum, and have it displayed nicely. That would really help in knowing when I have new posts instead of having to open up each thread in a mobile takes quite some time.

My guys are reporting that the link back to the main forum index has now vanished. Plus the expansion Mod which adds the added functionality is no longer shows any options under 3.8.0

edit Okay I couldn't wait. I installed it on 3.8.1 and this looks AWESOME. Checking it out on my HTC Touch Diamond using IEMobile, Skyfire and Opera Mobile - resolves in mobile style perfectly in each.

Making posts, moderating threads, emotes show up and the pages load damn fast.

I'm sure there'll be minor quirks with some of the hacks we've installed but you've nailed the key there here - mobile access and functionality.

Thanks I had it set as a link in the top navbar,changed it now to no link as I'm using the mobile phone detect add on...

Another questiong for you please...

When you click on the "User Cp" link it all works great but reading private messages is difficult as the screen is "halfed"

Is there any way I can get it to show the PMessages on a seperate page..

I couldn't quiet figure out where to put it so I made a BBCode for <br> and <hr> and just used that in the options.

+1 for the 3.8.x update. But I've got this going on 3.8.1 and so far so good. :)

Few things I would ask for though in the update, if you do one that is, are:

Line breaks between post replies
Text wrapping on input fields
Moderator tools access
Direct link to PMs (showing how many new texts)
Link to AdminCP (if conditional)
AdminCP style ;)
New thread/post flag (most important out of the lot IMHO)If you could add them in I'd be one happy camper, but please don't see this post as a complaint.

Installed and working for the most part.

I did modify the threadbit template to indicate new posts exist by having the thread title in bold and old threads in regular text.

My forum supports Linear/Hybrid/Threaded modes and it does seem that things don't display properly if the user doesn't default to Linear mode if the thread has non-linear discussion. If that's the case is there a way to force the user to Linear mode when using the mobile style so all the conversation is visible?

My users are singing praises since I installed it this morning. Just one little request. It would be nice to include an option to redirect mobile devices directly to the forums. Our primary page is a portal page and doesn't render very well with some mobile devices. It would be a god send if the options for the style allowed for a redirect directly to the forum pages.

Alternatively, one can create a vBadvanced wap based page (I use just the calendar for events and recent threads) just for mobile devices. Then, add the plugin for mobile detection to the vba_cmps_include_getpage hook and the add a bit of additional logic to it.

If the desired device is identified and you are on the default vBa home page the page will be reassigned to the wap page identifier.

For now, I've used the replacement variable to show (Emoticon) instead of the :-) and I think that will suffice. However, if anyone knows how to get it to show the actual smilie code, that would be even better! :)

Got this one with a replacement variable:

Search for text:
title="Show results

Replace with text:

As with pretty much all updates, it is unlikely that there will need to be code changes to this style unless new features are added which need to be incorporated into it.

All templates have a version number which matches the vbulletin version they were last changed in. When a new release is installed, if templates in the new release have been modified for that release, a warning will be shown for all templates (in all styles) that have an older version number.

As this style (and thus its templates) is so cut back it is unlikely that there will need to be edits made. This is especially the case when there are no "mandatory template changes" (http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1614919&postcount=2)

Edit the 6 templates, make no changes, and then save and the warning messages will go away.

We're going to have this issue every other month now that there are scheduled releases.

You could alternatively download and edit the XML and do a search and replace on 3.7.2 for 3.7.3.

I am running in 3.8.1 Patch level 1, seems to work fine. However there are now 36 out of date templates. I also have the device detection mod and your style installed, hence the higher number. Rather than edit all the templates, I could edit the XML files and add 3.8.1?

For some odd reason it shows a TON of ads on my site. Like a mile of them that you have to scroll down before you get to the forum.

I can't find it in any of the templates.

But if you use the mobile style on a PC the ads don't display.

I'm not sure when the problem started since I don't look at my own website with my phone often, but when I first installed it I didn't have this problem.
