Hi all,

I hope some one can help me with this

I've installed vBSEO Google/Yahoo Sitemap Generator v.2.1 in my vbulletin

and I did everything as mentioned in the Installation Instructions

and everything went but

when I go to add my sitemap in google webmaster tools it gives me this error:

General HTTP error: 404 not found
We encountered an error while trying to access your Sitemap. Please ensure your Sitemap follows our guidelines and can be accessed at the location you provided and then resubmit.

I don't know what's wrong and I hope someone can tell me how to get over this issue

I've installed this in another website and everything went ok and I hadn't any problem with it and it works just great and a few days later I installed it to my other website but I have this problem...

why do I have this problem with my new website and I didn't have it in my first one?

any idea about how I can fix this, please? because this problem is reall driving my crazy

thank you

What is the url of the sitemap you are submitting?

Have you generated the sitemap.? Have you performed the .htaccess file edit?

you should submit something like http://yoursitename.com/forums/sitemap_index.xml.gz if your site is in the /forums/ folder or http://yoursitename.com/sitemap_index.xml.gz if your forum is in the webroot.

The best place to ask for modification support would be the modification thread, the developers will likely see it and help you more :)

thank you FRDS for your quick reply

the sitemap's url looks like this:
http://www.mysitemap.com/forum/sitemap_index.xml
there is no .gz in the end

and this url is the one that I got after I generate the sitemap

and I didn't edit the .htaccess file, should I edit it?

I've opened it and I found that it contain this codeRewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^((urllist|sitemap).*\.(xml|txt)(\.gz)?)$ vbseo_sitemap/vbseo_getsitemap.php?sitemap=$1 [L]
which is the same one that mentioned in the installation instructions

and can you guide me to the modification thread please?

https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=144730

have you tried browsing to either http://yoursitename.com/forums/sitemap_index.xml.gz or http://yoursitename.com/forums/sitemap_index.xml to see if you can get to either one from your web browser?

ex: http://maddengods.org/sitemap_index.xml.gz
