View Full Version : 3.7 Social Groups in the Notifications menu

We've recently installed the 3.7 RC onto our boards, and the community has seriously embraced the social groups system. However, it's difficult to see if there are any new posts or pictures in a social group you are member of without actually navigating to the social groups page and viewing the group (or looking at the numbers, if you remember them from the last time you checked).

Would it be possible to somehow add "Unread Social Groups Posts" or Unviewed Social Group Album Pictures" or some variant to the Notifications menu (You know, the new one that lists if you have Visitor messages, etc)? That would make it so much easier to view whether you need to navigate to that page at a glance.

Just bumping this up, as we'd love this feature too.

I'm being asked for this too. Without it, posts are apt to just sit there unread.

OK folks, I have just about given up on this. Has anybody come up with a solution? Social Groups are really a waste of time without some sort of notification system of new messages.

Me too. There were some promises from folks that they will work on mod to address it, but it seems like nobody was successful if indeed took on the task. I have to agree that without notification this feature has limited use. People just keep forgetting to check on Social Group unless they have something going on in there and keep reminding themselves to do so.

I was trying to bump the thread in the hope if he subscribes to threads, he'll get an email .. and may remind him *does an evil grin* :D

I had a big load of groups created in the first week now they are dying a slow death because there are no notifications. I'd chip in $50 if someone made a slick product for this..

My users are also clamoring for some kind of notification for social groups...

I cannot understand why there is no simple notification of any form. Even just one in the breadcrumb (with hypertext link) would suffice...

Looks like this will be a standard feature for VBulletin 3.8 which is available already but in Beta. I've kind of lost interest in this one. My members have decided that they don't like the social groups anyway and I have disabled them on my site.
