TfSEO: a Light Url-Rewrite (thread and forum only)

TfSEO 1.1.3 for vBulletin 3.6.x (3.7 here (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=173738))

What does it do?
TfSEO in a light and basic Url-Rewrite plugin for vBulletin. It rewite only forum and thread urls.
TfSEO is think for not weigh on the server. It don't add queries!

Live Demo: 1 (http://www.techforum.it/) (vB 3.7)

Installation:

Upload functions_tfseo.php into your ./includes/ directory
Import the product
Set-up you .htaccess file (view readme)
If do you want to rewite archive or RSS view the FILE MODIFICATION section of the readme
Set-up the TfSEO options and enable itThis product will be update and supported for long time.

Plugin now work with PHP4 too!

sorry I haven't installed it. You are not actually writing the title into the url or are you?

The thread ID is in the URL, threadid is unique.

thread with id 15 , and title: bananaphone
thread with id 16 , and title: bananaphone


first one shows: http://localhost/forum/bananaphone-15

My first goal is get TfSEO gold for 3.6.x versions of vBulletin. Then, i will relase a 3.7 version and extension, like the integration with the vBSEO's sitemap and the vBadvanced cmps. (If I can advise you, try vbDrupal, is a fantastic CMS integrated with vBulletin)

Dead urls. I'm using trafficblazer from godaddy to optimize my site. Every link in the forum reports back as a dead url and spiderability "none". Will this fix the problems?

1) I don't think. It is very heavy and it isn't very usefull. To exemple, if you use the name in category and than you change the category name, all your thread will have a 301 redirect..

I do apologise if I had been unclear. I have yet to install, so this is more of pre-install question.

I would like to know what happens to the old links e.g. /showthread.php?t=962 after installing the add on. Will they still work? Coz I have a lot of old links pointing to many threads using the traditional showthread url.

Ok. Now i have understood. All the link that pointed to the "old" urls, are redirect to the new one using a php-301-redirect.
You can see, to exemple im my forum:
http://www.techforum.it/showthread.php?t=858 is automatic redirect to
http://www.techforum.it/f47/tfseo-un-leggerissimo-url-rewite-per-vbulletin-t858/

Link to showthread etc will counted from google. Don't worry. You can find more about this here (http://www.webconfs.com/how-to-redirect-a-webpage.php).

No. But if the plugin will be popular, i can think to introduce this option. PS: i preferr the "fxxx" option, the forum will have a good seo too, it will not load on the server and you can change without problem the name of the categories.

This is nice, however I can't get it to work properly. The links successfully are rewritten in vBulletin, however it is as if my .htaccess file is completely ignored. I have it placed in the forum directory. Do you have any suggestions? I keep getting "Page Not Found" errors when I try to browse to a rewritten URL.

Your hosting allow .htaccess file? Some don't support it (but you shuld have a 500 server error). Have you try other ".htaccess files" in you site? I can't do nothing if it is your hosting..

Yeap, host supports .htaccess. I also contacted them in case there is something I might be forgetting to do. Just wanted to verify here as well if there is anything special I should do.

I have fixed it with the last version, it was a little bug with the .htaccess file. Have you update it?

Try to put the .htaccess file without your modification in the forum root. EX: yoursite.com/forum/.htaccess

UPDATED: Add a fist, basic support to vbAdvanced. I have tested it only with vb 3.7 and vBA 3.0.0. It don't rewrite, for now, the news's urls.

Unfortunately, i know what it mind.. :!
In this plugin, there is nothing that can put offline you forum. Actually, there are no knows bugs. At the worst, you will have a (or some) not rewrited urls, but you can fix it with an robots file. If can i help you for the (future) installation, i'm here.

Anyway, this is a very good job. Very "blog-like". And that's the way to go.

Actually mate I'm a professional Search Engine Optimizer. having F1, F2, etc, hurts the relevancy and prominence of keywords.

Is there a way to go about changing the f1's etc to the actual forum name?

No. But if the plugin will be popular, i can think to introduce this option. PS: i preferr the "fxxx" option, the forum will have a good seo too, it will not load on the server and you can change without problem the name of the categories.

Well, the whole point is to have a rewrite that will rewrite the forum name's and categories on the fly.

And should someone visit the site via the search engine, they can have a 301 redirect go back to the home page of the forum, or add some custom 404 error message with products for sale on it. Or something. :)

1) I don't think. It is very heavy and it isn't very usefull. To exemple, if you use the name in category and than you change the category name, all your thread will have a 301 redirect..

1. The "Go to first new post" button on in forum display. It takes you to the first new post... but the url is not rewritten. Heres what the url looks like when you click the "Go to first new post" button...

I've installed on one forum that's 3.6.8 and it works a treat. Tried it on 3.6.8 with vbadvanced 3.0.1 and it doesn't.

Found a glitch with vbadvanced when the thread has multiple pages it's not placing the page.html into the goto the last post button.

Hey guys,

I searched the thread, but I couldn't find anything referencing my problem about linking to specific posts (or going to "last post") which doesn't work on my forum. Without the ability to go to the last post, or last post read, it is a huge hassle for really large threads for members to navigate/follow. For example:

I am running vb 3.7.4 and TfSEO 1.1.4 (Light URL-Rewrite with other little SEO customization) - Any help would be really REALLY appreciated.
