This Mod incorporates youtube into your site so you can view all the videos via category or the features & most popular videos. Users can also search the videos, meaning an unlimited amount of content for your site.

You can also post youtube links in your threads.

All searching & viewing is done on your site so your members never leave and you can add your own adverts or whatever to the displays to maximize revenue.

Installation Instructions:

1. Upload the contents of the upload folder to your forum root directory.

2. Import product-vBTube in your admincp using the product manager.

3. In your style manager, find your navbar template and;

FIND:

I also added some graphics next to both the author and description, as well as making the author's name clickable. I also have an AJAX Star Rating system that I tested, but felt it wasn't necessary for this board in particular.

There was security issues before so time will tell if they still present. Last I heard exploits where in the older versions all the way up to v1.2.6 which this seems to be same version so time will tell for sure.

Great Mod but the Templates and the Application are not Compatible with the Mod vbTubePro; when trying to install it, that other Mod Overwrites the vbTube Templates, Plugins and the Application itself. Would be Nice that You Consider Changing the Templates, BB Codes, Plugins, and Application, Names, so that the other Mod doesn't Overwrite them. I'm curious why that other Mod Damages your Mod, is it on Purpose?? Are You the Same Developper??

Try this, Install your vBTube Mod, and then Install the vbTubePro Mod with Overwrite to Yes, and you'll see that vbTubePro Mod will take the Place of Your Mod, even in the Name of the Application wich no longer will be vbTube but vbTubePro. Does that other Application Uninstall this vbTube Application on Purpose, that's a Good Question to be Answered, because would be nice for Both Applications to Work Together Not To Destroy Each Other.

It can help improve traffic but remember you not going to be the only one having this mod so prepare for some duplicate content. Does really help keep you members active around your site though.

Even though they appear as custom categories, they're really just a keyword search.

Edit the vBTube template.

Find this:

<strong>&raquo;</strong> <a href="vBTube.php?do=cat&catid=2">Autos & Vehicles</a><br>

Directly above that, put this:

<strong>&raquo;</strong> <a href="vBTube.php?do=search&search=Thaiboxing">Thaiboxing</a><br>
<br>
--------------------
<br><br>

Of course, you'll replace "Thaiboxing" with the keyword you wish to display for the category.

To make a default category:

Open vBTube.php. On line 46 find this:

if ((!$_GET['do'] || $_GET['do'] == ''))
{
$_GET['do'] = 'today';
}

Replace it with this:

if ((!$_GET['do'] || $_GET['do'] == ''))
{
$_GET['do'] = 'search';
$search = 'martial arts';
}

Replace 'martial arts' with the search term you want to appear as the default.

The search box issue is on your end. Same thing for me. I looked at your code and it's wrong. I now have the button but "vBTube.php?do=search" does not work.

EDIT: Categories do not work but the main menu does.

I didnt realize that playa left the txt file in the zip. The product xml was changed so you will not have to edit that template. The txt file only changes the search button so its not a text field. If your search button shows and works, you do not need to edit that template.

I added the proper code to the main vBTube.php file for you. Just overwrite this file in your forum root directory. Once you overwrite this file, guests will need to register or login. No template changes are needed. :)

If you'd like to see things added, you should act like an adult instead of acting like a child. I'm sure the developer spent many hours on this and the least you could do is be respectful and nicely request additional options. This can only work with what youtube allows. Patience is a virtue!

Thats not even right. You pretty much blasted him for no apparent reason. At least be courteous. This is actually a very nice hack. This is a brand new hack so give the developer some time and I'm sure he will add a lot of cool different features as time goes on.

i also noticed that the hack automatically pulls crappy foreign videos instead of what is actually the most popular, featured, etc. that is on youtube. is there a way to fix this? i dont want all the foreign crap as a default.

Is there an existing gaming category at youtube? If not, the only way I know to do it would be the edit I posted earlier in this thread.

I found a small error... When you view a users profile, the next/previous links to the pages with their videos takes you back to the main video pages, the links are missing the variables for the specific user.

I found an issue that if I type in the name of my website in the search..(which wasn't my goal to find my website but I was looking for a specific offroad video of ours that is on youtube) it brings up a page full of broken images with the dreaded red x's.

One cautionary observation, you tube restricts access to certain adult content videos by requiring the user to login and confirm birth date. Yep no kids going to let that stop them right! but it is there. With this hack it is not so on forums which allow minors entrance this could cause a few raised eyebrows :rolleyes:

and one question is it possible to make the new today/most popular categories additionally keyworded so most popular music vids? :erm:

Great mod. One addition that would be nice is to add the direct link to the Youtube video on the video page along side the embed code. Because I have another mod that if you post the youtube url in your post, the video shows up right away. However I don't allow html so a user wouldn't be able to use the embed code to the same.

But you do say that we can post YouTube videos within our posts. I noticed while adding bbcode for 2 other things there's custom bbcode for this too. But I tried this: PRyvsRAo8T8 & it don't work. Plus there's no button. If I put the entire URL in there would it make any difference? Thanks for the mod & any help. :)
