i tried to uninstall as i was unhappy with it, now i'm getting a database error whenever i edit a user via admin CP, thanks alot...releasing a mod before making sure it works!

i had to disable all my plugins via config.php to access my admin CP's user section...

How do i get rid of this problem?

I'm using pl2 and NMAPS works just fine, strange! I guess the first thing to make sure is that you have the newest version of NMAPS installed and that you have successfully installed PL2.

Hi, well it does say "Is in Beta Stage"...have you solved the problem? If not, make sure (by using Phpmyadmin or similar) that the field for "Is reporter" is removed in the corresponding table, if it haven?t been removed by the uninstaller, remove it manually

Negative Smoke: One do not come in my mod thread and state it sucks since you did not read the original thread where it states IS IN BETA STAGE. Therefore things are possible to go wrong and everyone in this thread basically is beta testing to get bugs worked out. 2, since you still cannot read, many people have had the same issue and they have solved it via instructions provided by me. Now to get the is_reporter removed, you must access phpMyAdmin then go to your database, then click on user from there find is_reporter, check mark the box, then at the bottom press delete.

rooban: The issue is figured out. LOL The problem is that you have all 3 columns showing, if you edit the settings and change the width settings for NMAPS, then it should be fine. I can still see the bluish backgroun but because of the width options it doesn't show much of the background.

Some suggestions for future versions:
1. it will be nice to have a link to all news/articles in the member module (visible to all and opening in a separate page just like each category link),
2. a list of all authors/reporters in the member module opening in a separate page as well
OR a "...more reporters" at the bottom of the "Meet your reporters" module, and
3. search by ... reporter/news/date/etc.



It enables the reader to jump straight to any reporter or news without manually searching for it if the forum has a large number of reporters and/or news.

ade: You have to turn on full editor and go back manage product and reimport the product again with allow overwrite to Yes and it will show the editor , if you are not reimport it won't show the editor event turn the editor to full.

In the readme file, it says : 9. Deleted nmaps_install.php from your admincp directory.

but this is required for the uninstall process ? Pls help me because i'm little bit confused on this :confused:

Or maybe i can delete, then when i want to uninstall, i just re-upload the file to admincp directory ?

also, when i want to add image for each categories, just put the image on \images\nmaps\category folder ?

me too. (using 3.7.2)

But I did this to re-enable it :

1. If you have delete the file nmaps_install.php in your forum root\admincp then re-upload again to the same folder
2. Go to http://yourforum/admincp/nmaps_install.php and do the uninstall process
3. After uninstall succeded with no errors, then re-install from plugin/import product (i chose to allow overwrite)
4. Then go to set no 2 above and follow instruction to install.
5. If succeded, then it will give you the configuration setting for nmaps
6. Set in the usergroups for allowing which usergroup to be able to see nmaps
7. Follow the rest of readme file

EDIT: Quick answer for those getting a blank page, make sure you reimported the product xml file and make sure you ran the upgrade script. Blank pages means a few things but the main is templates missing or being blank.

Joey: Forgot, when you disable a module, it goes to the top of your module display page under Inactive Modules, you just need to edit it and re-enable it. Do me a favor, go to your nmaps_modules table via phpMyAdmin, browse the entries and see if Chief Reporter is listed, if not then some how it got deleted from the database altogether.

Ok v2.7.0-1 which is considered a HOTFIX will fix error where nmaps_config.php cannot be located. Please download and ONLY upload the files overwriting existing files.

I will release 2.7.1 which will remove the need to run an install script.

This version did not fix my issues mentioned in post #341 quoted above. Also, you will hear from me soon regarding your two translation currently in the works.

joey: I answered those awhile back. I fixed the version number but since I am getting rid of the install file and using product xml file only, that shouldn't happen again. The admincp pages for modules, settings, cats, make sure you imported the product file and make sure you have nmaps.php uploaded, the correct one from the /admincp/ directory. I will not be changing the instructions for the upgrading due to the files will be removed. And great on the translations.

I have version 2.0.5.
When I upgraded my vB to 3.7.2 the main nmaps page is showing nothing except the vB menu integrated into it. It was working before. And the latest is not a fix for it either.

Is there a way around this or just upgrade hoping it will solve it.

Thank you all, right now moving from a file install system to an xml install isn't an easy task IMO. Right now I'm having to make sure I have everything covered otherwise there is a chance that the templates won't get installed or phrases, etc. Right now I don't have an exact day but I'm trying very hard to get it done ASAP.

There is a small typo in the code of the nmaps.php file.

That last file fixed my admincp issues. However, I'm still left with the issue that I do not have an "Inactive Module" box in my "Manage Modules" screen.

SLR722: Why don't you? I do things a certain way, I don't update a mod 3 or 4 times in a day, I would prefer 1 large update to handle many fixes. Another thing, I have put over 5 months of work into this mod so doing these little updates isn't really worth it when I plan to have another update anyway. I never told peeps they couldn't email me, I said no PM's so those wishing to get support via email are more than welcome to email me or go to my site. I have posted my email 3 times so not much else I can do there. And yes I do mind you asking, why, because you haven't even clicked install for the mod so you'll never know when I update as I send update emails.

joey: Not too sure why your having the issue with inactive modules. Once I release the FULL update then if it still doesn't work we will try to get it working again.

I have version 2.0.5.
When I upgraded my vB to 3.7.2 the main nmaps page is showing nothing except the vB menu integrated into it. It was working before. And the latest is not a fix for it either.

Is there a way around this or just upgrade hoping it will solve it.

I figured it out and want to share the solution to all. I worked for me and I hope to does for others. They are all typo issues as discussed. Once corrected, you're good to go assuming you are using the nmaps file in the link below.

- Edit the nmaps file in the admincp
- look at line 161 (in the section - EDIT CATEGORIES INDEX )
- Change the last word from eval($?ook) to eval($hook)
- Go to line 245 (in the section - DISPLAYS INACTIVE MODULES IF THERE ARE ANY)
- take out the '?' at the beginning of the line.
- Save
- Back up your database
- Uninstall and reinstall nmaps.
- Upload your backup database (if you have articles/news before)

Other than those typos this mod works 100%. But right now I'm swamped with work, getting ready for a promotion at work so my time online is limited. I am taking a vacation from work Aug. 8th so I expect to have released a new version by then.

MartynL: You have open_basedir restriction, if you are on a VPS or Dedicated Server, you need to open your php.ini file and turn that off otherwise you need to contact your host regarding turning off open_basedir restriction.

Man, this is a complicated mod to install..

When I try to go in Manage Modules, I get this error:

The installation went well. The tables are created. I can modify settings and categories, but not modules.

Also, when I try to launch nmaps.php from a browser, I get a permission denied from Vbulletin. Maybe it's because I didn't modify any modules?

Also, are there any options in VBulletin Options or just in the NMAPS menu?

No, I'm not running it outside the forum directory. But if I try to add a path to the config file, there's no change. Same behavior.

As I said, others things are working. I can manage settings, manage categories, but cannot manage modules.

I fixed the permission issue. I guess I'm still a bit new with Vbulletin and didn't know I had to modify the user permissions to access this module. Maybe I missed it in your installation notes.

The config file is back to its original version, with nothing in the DIR variable.

It's not picking up the global.php, because my database user is not 'user', it's something else, but it's showing me my 'user' account for some reasons, but just that function, other functions of admincp/nmaps.php are working well.

Hi,

I recently installed nmaps and seems like everything installed fine.

The problem I am having is when I access the nmaps.php page and try to ADD STORY or choose a CATEGORY, the url in the address bar changes but the page just refreshes.

I cannot do anything. I did a fresh install as well

I have assigned permissions to the admins and gave myself cheif reporter status but I cant do anything else.

Is there something I am missing?

Joey: Forgot, when you disable a module, it goes to the top of your module display page under Inactive Modules, you just need to edit it and re-enable it. Screenshot provided for you, the screenshot is sappy due to me using my laptop and not a desktop. I will also release the fix version regarding the titles.

EDIT: Red square is where the inactive modules box should show up for you.
Steve, disabled modules aren't shown at the top by me, i reinstalled and reupload everything, no solution.

Ok right now I have removed the zip file until I release the new version in 3 days and 12 hours. All of the bugs reported thus far I will have fixed with the new version. I believe most errors are coming from the install file hence the reason I am changing it to a product xml file that needs to be imported. So please if you have not done so, please click INSTALL so you will be able to receive updates for when I release the new version.
