Excuse cross-posting, also asked on vb.com....

I'm sure this has already been asked and explained...

The sequence
1- Install product in vb
2- Import addon plugin(s) that relate to that product
3- Install product again, telling it to overwrite

will delete the plugin(s) installed at step 2

However, the sequence
1- Install product
2- Import addons plugin(s) that relate to that product
3- Import these plugins again

leaves you with two copies of the plugin(s), i.e there is no option to overwrite plugins.

Am I missing something? It would be a useful option to automatically overwrite plugins when re-importing. Telling the user to delete them before reimporting can be a bit of a pain, as you have to do this one at a time for all the plugins associated with a hack.

Errrr, you attach the plugins to the product, export it (the product), and they get installed when you install the product.

Yes, I know that - but I provide a large number of 'extras' for the product, in the form of sets of plugins. I don't want to make subproducts for them all :)

It seemed an oversight that re-importing plugins into vb duplicates them, or at least doesn't give you the option or overwriting.

This has turned more into a "feature request" (or maybe even a low level bug), and should be posted over at vBulletin.com. :)

As I said at the start of the first post, excuse the cross-posting, already asked at vb.com :)

I'm not making a feature request, I just wondered if I'd missed something obvious.

Addon's should have their own product-id. If you add extra plugins using the same product-id, then yes they will be removed upon an overwrite install or an uninstall.
