View Full Version : Attachment Permissions Problem

I've been an admin for three years and I'm embarrassed to admit that I can't figure this problem out.
Out of nowhere, nobody on my board can post attachments, even the admins. I looked through all of the settings and everything looks good.
In vBulletin Options > Message Attachment Options:
Limit Space Taken Up By Attachments (Total): 0
Attachments Per Post: 250
Attachment Upload Inputs: 10
Attachment URL Inputs: 10
In each usergroup, the attachment options are:
Can Upload Attachments: Yes
Space (in bytes) that a user's total attachment usage may consume: 0 (Unlimited)
What am I doing wrong?

Could your hard drive be full? I know it's not likely, but that actually happened to me. Something went weird and left a full backup in a folder that then got backed up again and again, but since it was doubled in size cuz of the error, this just made our drive fill up within a week until users posted about not being able to upload attachments.

I don't think that's it.
Disk space available 602135 Megabytes
It seems like a permissions problem, but I can't think of another place to look in the admincp.
Thanks for responding. :)

What about the file types?

Look in all secondary usergroups that the users are in. If you have the primary one set to a limit of "0" (unlimited), but then they are in a secondary usergroup and the limit is "xxx" (not unlimited), then the limit will end up being "xxx".

What about the file types? They're just picture files and they're all included in the attachments listing.

It's weird.
I'll keep looking. Thanks for the suggestions.

Maybe a mod is making it not work?

I sort of thought about that, but I'm not sure about the internal workings of any of the mods nor am I familiar with anything inside vb that can be altered that would prevent members from attaching attachments to their posts.

Turn off your modifications to see if it fixes the problem.

Turn off your modifications to see if it fixes the problem.Thank you.
I disabled vbcredits and everything seems fine. Now I have to figure out how a credits program affects my ability to post attachments.
Thanks again for the help.

Now that you have identified the modification, you may want to go reread the whole modification thread and see if this problem has been mentioned before. There may be a solution already posted, and if not, the author, or others who have downloaded the mod, may help you out.
