I am really starting to be miffed off with the fact that Vbulletin developpers do not seem to be able to commit to release dates.
i am stuck in a limbo at the moment of wanting to get some custom stuff developed to make my forum more functional but i can see ii would be a lot easier to use 3.7 to do the same thing.
However i cannot use 3.7 because one of my must have hacks is nto available for 3.7 until it is formally released as the developers only support the latest stable version.
so i am stuck with the possibility of paying for a mod that will only be workign for a short period at which point i will need to do the same again to make a version that works with 3.7.
I really want to start using 3.7 as i think some of the additions will be very very cool but when will it be released?
i am not gonna hold you to any dates you give me. if i had an idea plus or minus 6 months at this point it would probably be of great use.
will it be this year?
Why cant you give us some very very rough idea as i am sure i cant be the only one in this situation at the moment.
Please anyone give me some idea or estimates

Jelsoft developers never commit to any release date, and never have nor they probably never will. No one that posts here knows, so anyone doing so is just blowing smoke up your arse.
Have you tried your must have hack, on 3.7 to see if it works?

I have only found small parts of some 3.6 hacks that don't work on my 3.7 test forum. So, I made a few small changes and it now works. Put up a test forum and work out the kinks and then you should be all ready for the gold release of 3.7.

It will obviously be released this year, I mean the only thing that would stop it would be some major disaster at Jesloft. lol :D

When was the first beta released, just to get some idea on how long the betatesting has been going on.
Sitting here waiting for 3.7 aswell, run a board on 3.03 with a lot of bugs lately and want to update to 3.7.

hmm well lots of 3.6.x mods have successfully worked with 3.7.0 so I guess you can take the chance. Right now I am using mods for 3.0.0 on my 3.7.0 board.
To my knowledge Jelsoft doesn't set hard in stone dates on their official notes anywhere.

Once a date is known, it will be announced on vBulletin.com. There is no use asking here.

i have tried my must have hack on a 3.7 install and it doesnt work. not sure why not and the developers kindly did look into it but after a while did point out that i needed to wait for the stable release which they would then support.
and in terms of there being no point in asking here. there is just as much point as at vbulletin.com
in fact i imagine there is more likeliness in some of the developers here having experience on how long the beta testing normally takes on a release and then how long the RC stage hasw been in the past.
someone has said it will certainly be this year - this is not obvious for someone who hasnt been through the dev cycle before.
does anyone else have any rough estimates as to when you would think the release candidate stage might start and how long that has lasted for in the past?

No one really knows, anything that we know, is posted at vBulletin.com.

That is how half of the authors will work. They will wait until there is a stable version before modifying their work. Like this they will not need to do double work if there are changes (which is likely during beta stages).

No there is not as much point in asking here and vB.com (or actually there is as much as you won't get any additional information on either site). You will not find any of the developers or decission makers on vB.org. They do their work on vB.com and any announcement will be made there. Nobody on Staff (either here on vB.org or vB.com) will provide any information or estimates other then what is announced, doing so would even break our non-disclosure agreement which has been signed by all Jelsoft staff.
Others can not give any meaningfull estimate. Also the duration of a Beta/RC/Production can not be made based on historical data as it depends greatly on the number of new features added and customer feedback/bugreports. Keep an eye on the bugreports and once there are only a few (serious) bugs reported on a Beta version, the development will go into the next stage (ie. RC.)

ok
maybe i didnt ask this in the correct way.
what i really want is from anyone who has more experience in VB (ie all of you)
when do you think it might be released.
give your best estimate + or - 6 months
i am not goign to hold you to it or make any derogatory comments if your wrong i just want your approximate estimates as to when you think we might see the release so i have more than "Absolutely Nothing" to base my decision on.
i dont understand why we are having a lengthy debate around the question not being one that should be asked when an approx estimate from some educated people would give me everything i need

Experience with vBulletin doesn't mean they can tell when a version of vBulletin will be released... You'd need to be able to jump into the future to tell.

yes i understand you cant see the future. i wouldnt be asking for vbulletin release dates if i thought you could as i would be too busy betting on the lottery and horse racing.
thank you jaycob for the first bit of advice.
anyone else want to take a stab in the dark as to when you think it might be released?
