In vBExperience 3.8.0, support for vBulletin 3.6.x has been dropped.

Description
vBExperience is an advanced Level and Activity System with Shop and Awards. It will calculate an activity and experience score for every user based on their activites on the forum. Now your users will see how their level is increasing by participating on your forum.

This mod was developed by me because I was never satisfied with the post count. Communities are not only defined by post count, they need much more parameters: Are the postings the user creates helpful? Are his threads frequently read? Does the user participate on the community by posting pictures, attachments, leaving visitor messages, tagging threads? All this can be answered with this mod.

For vBulletin 3.6.x there is only reduced functionality because some new features like social groups, thread tagging, visitor messages and albums have been introduced initially in vBulletin 3.7

There are mainly four things visible for the users: The users score, his level, his next level up in %/points and his activity in %.

Additionally you can install these modifications:
- Thread Necromancer: Gives (minus-) points when a user is posting in old threads. Contains also Thread Necromancer Award.
- Scrupulous Poster: Gives points for editing posts. Award users that are editing own posts instead of doing double post.
- Deletion Addicted: Gives points when an user/nod soft-deletes post, thread, visitormessage, groupmessage or picturecomment.

Also, there are already addons that works as custom point provider. A CDP can extend vBExperience by collecting data and adding it in the vBExperience datastore. All point providers can be used for Awards and Shop.


You have to install these hacks for your own, vBExperience doesn't install nor touches these.
Also, you can add your own custom points and f.e. set an award to this points.


vBAdvanced
There are two vBAdvanced 3.0 XML modules: Most Active Users and Most Experienced Users. Import them via vBAdvanced AdminCP.


Awards
There are four default awards: Community, Posting, Activity and Helpful. The awards are shown in Rankings and Profile. You can set them also to display in postbit near the username. There is a scheduled job running once a day (02:30h) to calculate them.
Via AdminCP they are completely customizeable and can also be assigned manually.
Awards can be created for every data provider.


Rankings
Showing User, Level, Awards, Activity Points (experience, thread, post, user, misc) - sortable.


Shop
With vBExerience 3.7.14 a virtual Shop has been introduced. You can define categories and put virtual items with pictures in it. A currency can be defined seperatly for every item, e.g. 20 points from threads or 100 points from gallery. Users can purchase the items, they appear in their profile. The costs of the item are substracted from their xperience points. Additionally you can set quantity of the items.
The Shop will motivate your users to collect specific points to buy an item. Optionally you can show the last purchased items on postbit.
You can put virtual items in it, like WoW addons: Sell WoW Items in exchange of f.e. thread points. Great for RPG forums.


Statistics
The new statistics shows a Top-X list of the leading users. Usefull for optimizing points of the point provider. Only enabled point providers with results will be displayed.


Promotion system
To motivate users to do more on your forum I created the promotion system. By reaching defined xperience points the user will be moved to another usergroup - where you can set graphics, shadows, highlighting, etc... What is interesting in combination with this: you can give the user more possibilities f.e. larger avatars or bigger PM box. A log of the promotions is available.


Calculation of the activity
The system calculates the activity by taking the average post count of the ten most active user and comparing it to own post count. This can be set to count only the last X days, f.e. 21 days (controlable via AdminCP) .


Settings
You can control how many points are given to every calculation. For example you can give many points for creating new threads but only a few for views of that thread. Setting a value to 0 will disable a setting.
Additionally, you can set ignore users (f.e. for bot users), forums (f.e. offtopic forums) and usergroup id's.


Performance, Big Boards
vBExperience has been tested on smaller and also on some bigger sites. I know from boards with around 120k users running this mod smoothly. More about this topic can be read in the file readme_optimization.txt


Frequently asked questions
Q: How do I change the name vBExperience to something new?
A: You can change the name via phrases. Just search and replace all phrases that contains vBExperience.

Q: When installing vBExperience, does everyone start from scratch, or will it automatically configure everyone's points based on actions before the install?
A: If you recount, vBExperience will calculate ALL existing data since the beginning of the board.

Known Issues:
- Awards: On "Currently Active Users Viewing This Thread" awards are only shown for the user who is viewing this.
- Awards: If activated in with rich username, they are attached to the username. If the username is linked, the awards are also linked. If a link is underlined, the awards are also underlined. This behaviour is hardcoded in vBulletin and cannot be fixed.

I install The mod, upload the inmages in my style carpet, i select the level 4 , but it dont shows me the bars. And i dont understand the modification in the postbit/postbitlegacy that i have to see... could you explain me.. thanks

You have to run maintenance tools/update xperience counts if you import a level product.

Enable "Show bar text?" in settings to see a short description of the bars.

Troubleshooting
If there are no bars visible at the postbit, you don't have a fully vBulletin 3.6.8/3.7 compatible postbit/postbit_legacy template. You will need $template_hook[postbit_userinfo_left] - make sure it's there. Take a look at the origin 3.6.8/3.7 template to see where it should be.

Maybe I don't understand this, but vBExperience does only show what it calculates. It uses reputation to calculate it's score, but it does not show all data providers as bars.

Did you copied the images to the right folder? If you are using a custom style you must copy it to that folder.

It calculates every 10 minute only users that posted since the last 10 minutes. I have boards running with 400 active users and no heavy impact on server load. It has to be tested with 1500 users....

Everyone has original templates. Create a new style from the scratch, there you will have unmodified templates.
The problem is that you don't have template hooks on your modified templates. That means you have templates that are not fully 3.6.8/3.7 compatible.

Possible yes, but I don't think I will create a provider for that. First, the "Hide Hacks w/ Thanks" is a paid extension - I don't have it here and I don't see to buy it. Second, Psionic discontinuued work on his hacks.

Dude, this mod rocks !!! Not installed yet but I'll for sure, just some doubts befores installation.

Known Issues
- If the promotion system is enabled and your primary administrator group you will lose this. Set your administrator group as secondary or don't use this feature

May VbExperience cause any conflict with regular Vb reputation system ? Should I turned it off when install this mod or can I keep together with ?

- Awards are not beeing displayed in postbit, this would require one additional query

Promotion system conflicts with any other promotion system. It's disabled by default.

In 3.7.9 Awards in postbit and profile are solved other way - they are shown with username. Take a look at Demosite, it's already running 3.7.9

The stats/experience are calculated from existing data in database, e.g. postings and threads. No, it's not possible. However, you can reset level.

Just a couple of questions about Vbadvanced.
I turned the option to get a link to VbExperince on my navbar, works great everywhere but in Vbadvanced page.
My VbA page is installes on www.website.com and Vb is on www.wesite.com/forums
When I click Vbexperience on Navbar on VbA page it gives a error that can't find xperience.php. As this file is on my www.website.com/forums and only at VbA page this link calls for it on www.website.com I just tried to make a copy os xperience.php on it but this time gave me require once global.php error. I tried to find this bronken link everywhere but I couldn't.

I'm running last version of VbA CMPS and I couldn't intall the VbA modules for this hack. When tried using Import option on CMPS it tells me the file is not compatible for it.

But what puzzles me, how does someone earn an award? I currently have many users with awards, which doesn't really make it look exclusive...

There are 4 awards in Gold, Silver and Bronze.

Posting Award: Points in Postings, Threads, etc..
Helpful Award: Many Post Thanks points
Activity Award: Users with more postings than the average one
Community Award: People who have friends, social groups, doing comments

I will implement a feature where you can decide that only one award (=Gold) from each category is possible.

I tried that already. Also, here is the same problem like with the 3 words: Someone can copy/paste text from the web that would also count as his text. Second, Using the SQL Command to count the char is fast, but would include Quotes. If someone uses often quotes he would get more points even if he posted only 3 words....

Yes, you have only to edit that levels and it's usergroup id's... In next versions I will advance this system, maybe include a nice admin interface for controlling the usergroups.

You can set it automatically via options, but you should have a 3.6.8-template.

Activity is beeing calculated via postings in the timeframe you can set in AdminCP. You set 365 days, so it takes all postings from the last 365 days. Maybe the user did many postings in the past. Definitly more than many other users in the last weeks.

Set the timeframe to 28 days or something like this. Or leave the 21 days that are set by default.

What would I need to change in the database if I wanted to base activity on 1 post per day over a year?
So that, if you miss a day posting then your activity should drop, but if you post more than 1 per day you dont get extra activity. However, if you were only a member for 60 days then it would only count back the 60 days since you joined.

As this is not implemented in program logic you cannot change this. Maybe I will do this as an alternative way, setable via options, in one of the next version.

I turned the option to get a link to VbExperince on my navbar, works great everywhere but in Vbadvanced page.
My VbA page is installes on www.website.com and Vb is on www.wesite.com/forums
When I click Vbexperience on Navbar on VbA page it gives a error that can't find xperience.php. As this file is on my www.website.com/forums and only at VbA page this link calls for it on www.website.com I just tried to make a copy os xperience.php on it but this time gave me require once global.php error. I tried to find this bronken link everywhere but I couldn't.


I upgraded VbA for version 3 final, this way I could uoload the modules. Everything is running OK by now but this problem with the links.
VbExperience links on navbar and also in quick links work fine at every forums pages but at VbA page it doesn't.
Any idea how to fix this ?

I was installing VbA modules. I've installed the "Most Experienced" and worked fine but the Most Active" gives me an error on VbA page.

"Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_UNSET in /home/website/www/forums/modules/xperience_active_users.php on line 35"

When I move my Admin as a Secondary role, it still kicks me out and I have to use Tools.php every couple hours to fix this. You need to address this in your next version.

That *only* happens if you have the promotion system enabled AND your primary usergroup is Administrator.
I'm using the promotion system on three boards without problems.

On 3.7.8 I could translate award just like any other word but I think on 3.7.10 I can only do that through this path, right ?

My members spend a lot of time playing video games (some of them over an hour) and it would suck if it showed their activity level as 0 if they are there every day. :/

ibproarcade calculates the total number of games a member plays into the tables, perhaps we could use this number to add it into the calculations?

Sounds strange, because that table would be created by the product import. Please uninstall the product, install again. Check for yourself if the table xperience_custompoints was created.

So far I have something in there lol, but it's saying "No awards are assigned", however they are assigned and viewable on the Weekly Awards page itself.

Yes done all that, it looks like they cannot be found in my error log as they have no .gif on the end of the path. :confused:

Yes, recount is always needed because it's calculating the data that it then shows.

I have the Administrators group in the Ignore grous list, however I received an award. This was working fine until I installed the latest. :(
Ignore Usergroup don't work on awards, as ignore works also for points. No points, no awards. If you still get an award, then you have likely manually assigned the award.
If you put someone/some group on ignore you will have to do a recount.

But there is only one problem that I need help with

It doesn't automatically change your points.

Like my points would be lets say 46. But after I post some stuff, its still 46

Why is that? Is there a setting I must change?

Due to performance there is a scheduled job running where the points are calculated. Just be patient.

Did you have vB 3.6.x or 3.7? This friendcount should only be queried if you have 3.7 installed.

I have 3.6.9 but i did install your 3.7 version 1st by mistake, bu have since uninstalled and re installed the 3.6 version

That is the problem: vBExperience checks if a specific 3.7 table exists ("socialgroup"), it use this info to switch to 3.7 mode.

Just delete the table socialgroup.

I have read & followed every page of this thread but I guess I'm not getting what it takes to have the xperience status show up in the member profile area. It works great everywhere. All templates are reverted and it is not a custom skin, it is the original skin, using 3.6.8.

This is the memberinfo template, sorry it's long, I'll remove after I get instructions.

I have VB 3.6.2.
Installed it clean.. first time.
I see absolutely nothing.... nothing in postbit, nothing in quicklinks (selected that in admincp), nothing in profiles, nothing in the pulldown menu for users...

I manually updated the counters, i uploaded everything Binary etc..
But i see nothing at all.. not even errors..

I know it says int he text (3.6.8) but the titel says 3.6.x ... and i dont think 3.6.8 is THAT different from 3.6.2!?

This mod will work with vBulletin 3.6.8/3.6.9 and vBulletin 3.7 or higher.

vBulletin 3.6.2 does not have the required template hook system.

As a paid request of the The Brotherhood of International Gamers, a virtual Shop has been introduced.

How to upgrade?
1. Copy ALL (I mean ALL) files from /upload/ to the server. Espacially take care of the images, copy them to your style misc folder if you use a customized style
2. ReImport product_vbexperience3714.xml, allow overwrite
3. If you modified any of the vBExperience templates, revert them
4. Run Maintenance Tools/Recount

These are the changes:

- Added "Custom Data Provider" - you can now define your own data providers and extend vBExperience to calculate data that you choose. You will need some experience in creating mods to work with the hooks.
- Added Shop: Users can buy virtual items that you can define via AdminCP. You can decide which points should be substracted by a purchase. Supports categories.
- Added: Navigaton bar
- Added new xperience: "thanks - vS-Hide Hack Resurrection (Expanded Edition)". This one is controlled by the already existing "thanks" setting.

I am a site with 60000+ members and using this mod, but doing a recount takes too much time.

And i did a recount, then i stopped because my computer hung, and i did a recount another time. I suspect they are running concurrently in the server. is there a way to stop it running?

probably a silly question but is there a way for members to remove items they have bought, if they dont want them to show anymore?

Also i dont want awards to show for the team, but i dont know what to edit to be able to turn that off, as i would still like the bars and shop for them. I read a few posts back i need to edit the position query but have no idea what that is, sorry.

Do you have the vBExperience Navigation between Users and Usergroups? If not, you didn't copied all needed files to the server. Maybe you just need a refresh of the AdminCP.
