Resize IMG tag with Highslide!

This is small hack and easy to resize large Images in [IMG] tag with using Highslide.

vBulletin Version: 3.6.x, 3.7.x and 3.8.x
File Edits: 0
New Files: Yes
Template Edits: 0
New Templates: 2
New Phrases: 11
Uses Hooks: 7
Setting: 5
Uses Plugins: Yes
Time to install: 1 minute max

New Install:

1) Upload folder highslide in your root folder.

2) Import file XMl via Manage Products ACP >> Plugins & Products >> Manage Products >> [Add/Import Product]


Upgrade from v 2.x.x:

1) Upload folder highslide in your root folder.

2) Import XML file via Manage Products
ACP >> Plugins & Products >> Manage Products >> [Add/Import Product]

Choose YES for Allow Overwrite


Upgrade from v 1.3:

1) Upload folder highslide in your root folder.

2) Reupload file includes/class_bbcode.php.

3) Import XML file via Manage Products
ACP >> Plugins & Products >> Manage Products >> [Add/Import Product]
Choose YES for Allow Overwrite

4) Revert template postbit_attachmentthumbnail.

Here are some things that would be nice.

1. When an image that is large is down sized it would be nice to have a boarder letting the user know that they can click the image to view the full size

2. Image quality is suffering when they are downsized.

3. Find a way to exclude it from signature images. Maybe code to have it ignore images smaller than a certain size.

4. Stop the image from moving when hover over.

I use 800x600 for images. Anything larger I want resized. Anything smaller I don't.

Well I ran into an interesting glitch. Running this on 3.7 Beta 6 (test forum though so not open to public). In Firefox everything seems to work ok.

In IE it seems to shrink the image even further which is ok but when you click on it, rather then expand it seems to shrink further till you cant see it anymore. It doesn't expand like it does in Firefox just disappears basically. Is this a limit of the mod or is it not compatible with IE?

yes you over write and redo the php modification

I am getting a IE popup error on attached images.
The error says "Operation could not be completed" then it displays a IE7 "dianose a connection fault" error page.
When you click back the images work as they are supposed to but its a very annoying error.

Ideas?

that's a bug with vbadvanced not the script itself get inside the forum and see if you got the problem.

I don't think there's any point to use highslide in the albums. It's good for when there's more than one photo to browse through but the albums aren't arranged that way.

The albums need a simple resize mechanism like the one DeviantArt (http://www.deviantart.com) uses. Hopefully once we're into gold we'll see something like that be released.

The mod is working beautifully on my site with one exception.

Some of my images are using some weird redirect path, the images using this are not working, they show as loading but do nothing. Where is this coming from and what can I do to change/fix it?

I am confused, I read here where it says it works in 3.6.8 and I read elsewhere it says you need 3.7 Which is it?

I ask, because I have 3.6.8 and tried installing it, and although it works, the scroll bar on my browser stopped working, along with you can not use your mouse to highlight text anymore.

I've temporarily un-installed this mod til I figure this out. Any thoughts?

Is there any option, that the onboard Higslide are using for resizing?

There is nothing to fix, just change these values

The mod works fine, you just have to put in the size that you want to use.

the 640 twice means everything bigger then 640 will be resized to 640

this is a fine mod and I do not understand what people are complaining about? Just put in the values that you want to use.

The first 640 - Anything bigger then this will be resized.

the second 640 - resized to this size.

So if you want anthing bigger then 800 to be resized to 640, put exactly that in the values.

No, that's the maximum size to which a picture should get expanded by default.

This line of code defines what size images should be resized -

"width: expression(this.width > 340 ? 180 : true);"

If an image is over 340, it will be resized to 180.

Please post the code you are using. If the script is not working, lets see what you have it set to.

I had the same problem, even small images were getting resized. All I did was change that code to


"width: expression(this.width > 640 ? 640 : true);" and everything is working good.

What his trying to say is to resize but not to include the Signature image to the slideshow...some of my users have images over 350 they get resized fine but when you click highslide and next you will see each of those images...and he would want to exclude those from the slideshow

As you can see the code is fine... but as MissKalunji said, i DON'T want small pictures to get into the resizer's way. I want them to be ignored by it... is it possible?

I installed RC3 - 3 days ago and this mod yesterday, everything is working fine.

Users with IE 7 are complaining that they get an error after the last image. The error is that it can not open the thread.

Just open the xml file with your favourite text editor and, at the very top of it, replace

<?xml version="1.0.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>

with

Sorry, but this plugin is bugged with Internet Explorer 7, it shrinks signatures and makes them like 5x smaller.

I used just the max width info without the highslide link. this give me the max width protection for IE & Firefox without breaking anything. small images are ignored. it just makes big images small.

the only thing missing is a link to view the full sized pic. I tired using getimagesize() to pic & choose when to apply the highlisde linky but it really slowed things down. besides it didn't work for direct links to VB attached images.

for now I'll live with being able to just scale down the pics. thanks

Maybe I'm the first one show this problem in this thread, but its really need an answer.
My problem is when I change the direction from (left to right) to (right to left) -as some languages need to be- the page looks crazy and expands much than the normal, is there any solution for this problem, please!

Great hack, but I have one problem: When you link with an image for example [ url=site.com]picture.jpg[ /url]

Then the pic will open with the highslide and it won?t redirect to the link. I hope you get what I mean. Can you change that when you click on that image a menu opens up where you can select use high slide or follow link?

It is very nice to browse in the pictures of a thread. But I don't like, that the pictures of the signatures are also shown. When I click on "next picture" I want only to browse in the attachments and other posted pictures, but not in signature-pictures.
