View Full Version : iPhone / iPod Touch Optimized Skin
ElForro
03-02-2008, 10:00 PM
If you use my style, please click "Mark as Installed" in the Mod Information box -->
I made this Skin based on www.elforro.com colors and it has hardcoded CSS; so you would need to change some CSS values to match your forum style.
Many people ask me to share the style, so I did my best to make it as "default" as I could.
I spent a lot of time working on this skin, so if you decide to use it on your forums, PLEASE leave the "Design by:" legend. (it's only at the bottom)
Demo: http://www.elforro.com/index.php?styleid=15
( or go to www.elforro.com from your iPod / iPhone and click on the legend for the Optimized Skin )
-------
To show a message to all your iPod / iPhone users, you just need to add something like this in your navbar template (in your default style)
<script type="text/javascript">
if ((navigator.userAgent.indexOf('iPhone') != -1) ||
(navigator.userAgent.indexOf('iPod') != -1)) {
document.write("<a href=\"$_SERVER[PHP_SELF]?<if condition="$_SERVER['QUERY_STRING']">$_SERVER[QUERY_STRING]&</if>styleid=XX\">iPhone Style</a>")
}
</script>
(Change XX to your iPhone style number and write whatever you want instead of "iPhone Stlye")
--------
Screenshots: (Below the post)
You have to upload (and change the color/hue maybe) 4 PNG images in images/misc/ folder (included in the ZIP).
Please keep all of my copyright info in this style. Please do NOT redistibute this style on any other sites! (It's free!)

Alright ElForro - sweet. I tried to make something like this but my theme got bashed down because of the "Mobi" developer not liking that I partially based it off of his.
My inspiration was your site - AMAZING work and thanks for publishing.
I would love to donate - if you want to put a donate button or something like that :)

Thanks djr! I hope you can tweak the CSS colors and stuff... Please leave your URL (or PM to me) if you're using this Skin, I would love to see it with other colors and modifications...

Wow! This is very nice. I do have a question, however. I allow large avatars at my site (150px width x 200px height). This is problematic for the iPhone pixel limitations. An image re-sizer routine for avatars would be ideal. Could this be integrated?
ElForro
03-04-2008, 01:04 AM
Dr. Bantham... I've decided not to show avatars in the 'Showthread' template... This will help to load faster (a thread page with 10 replyies -and a lot of text- is about only 30kb of html)... However, you can see the avatars in the Profile Page of each user...
ALL images on ALL pages of your forum -while using this template- are resized (in fact is a "max-width" limited to 235px) with CSS, so there's no problem with that... If an image is under 235px width, will remain as it is; if it is larger than 235px -in widht, height doesn't matter- it will be downsized to 235.
You can check it here:
First enter the Theme: http://www.elforro.com/index.php?styleid=15
Then go to this thread with photos: http://www.elforro.com/galeria-de-trabajos/102682-sesion-enrollada-santa-barbara.html

However, you can see the avatars in the Profile Page of each user...Going away from the postbit legacy layout would allow for a better avatar fit, but if bandwidth reduction is a concern, I understand. I would still suggest the standard postbit mode (visible here on vBulletin). It would allow clarity of member information as row content without it competing as a column with the post content.
ElForro
03-04-2008, 01:34 AM
The postbit I've used is the postbit legacy... The only thing is that it only displays the Username... It doesn't show the avatar, or the Joindate, etc... You can see that the showthread is like this ( https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/attachment.php?attachmentid=76666&d=1204518212 ):
-------------------
Date of the post
Username
Post
-------------------
With 3 rows...
I've decided not to show the avatars because with an average of 50kb per avatar, it's a lot of KBs to download and I prefer to keep the threads as clean as possible, in order to guarantee a better experience while reading the posts content...
Anyway, you can change the template and add the Avatar to see how it looks...

This is a great style, ElForro!
One suggestion for people who use the Legacy postbit is to copy entire contents of the postbit template and overwrite the postbit_legacy template within this style.

I'm using this style with the Mobile Device Detection (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=130983) mod and it works great.
There are some localization issues with the template modifications. I noticed that some of the labels are in Spanish, so it appears they have been hardcoded.Not a big deal to change, but something to be aware of.

I am thoroughly enjoying this style. I do have two issues, however:
The first is the fact that I use vBadvanced CMPS as my index. Even though I use a two column approach in lieu of three, it still does not conform well in this environment. Could this style be modified to better accommodate vBa forums? If not, is there a manner by which the page could skip the vBa portal page and go to the forum index? Could the Mobile Device Style Assignment (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=130983) mod allow for this?
The second concern I have is that there is no menu system. The functionality appears to be limited to forums, private messaging and member pages. While I understand that other content might not be ideal for this environment, the need for a menu system of some nature is important to me. This would be a wonderful addition to this style.
Again, thanks for the great work thus far!

There are a lot of options that are not available yet in this Skin. That is because its supposed to be a light skin, just for read and reply threads in the forum... I think that if you want to change some settings to your forum account, you can do it while using a PC and while using an iPhone just read, search or reply messages...
However, if you know how to edit the templates you need, there is no problem in doing it... About the vBadvanced, I don't know how it would work because I don't use it, and I can't offer too much support for other addons that I don't use.

Dr. Bantham, you're right. I don't have the Copyright legend because I've paid for it's removal. I forgot to include it on this skin.
I will try to add it now and replace the ZIP with the modified skin.
Edit: DONE! Please download the iphoneskin.zip again OR add this lines to your footer template:
<!-- Do not remove this copyright notice -->
$vbphrase[powered_by_vbulletin]

Edit the adv_portal template in this style and replace it with a link or a redirect to your forums page..Good idea. However, I have already started on a custom vBa page which is limited to a single column. This will allow for news and recent thread blocks. Ideally, it would be great to have it auto-detect and revert to this page for the custom portal layout. Otherwise, I suppose I could provide a link or button for switching.

It's on the CSS... Look for "img"
For people wanting to give their user the "New posts since last visit" option, here's a template fix:
1. Open template navbar for the iPhone skin
2. Find:
<li><phrase 1="$pmbox[lastvisitdate]" 2="$pmbox[lastvisittime]">$vbphrase[last_visited_x_at_y]</phrase></li>
3. Add after:
<if condition="$show['searchbuttons']"><li class="link"><a href="search.php?$session[sessionurl]do=getnew">$vbphrase[new_posts_nav]</a></li></if>

I understand that this style is for 3.7 but it partially works on 3.6.8 PL 2. However, the four .png images don't ever show up on the skin(only the regular vBulletin statusicon images). Does anybody know of a way to get this to work better on 3.6.8 PL 2?

The four PNG are for the header and footer menu (Log out, Search, Home, etc)... There are not replacements for any vBulletin image...How about the icons that appear next to the forum names/forum descriptions? You see, my skin appears just like this. (http://forumet.kent.nu/?styleid=5) As you can see the vbulletin icons appear next to the forum names/forum descriptions. I want it to appear like yours. (http://www.elforro.com/index.php?styleid=15) Do I simply have to switch the images around for this to work?
dartho
03-10-2008, 11:02 AM
@mikkitine - it doesn't look like you have actually uploaded the images to teh correct place on your forum - for example - http://forumet.kent.nu/images/misc/iPhoneToolbar.png does not exist on your server.
mikkitine
03-10-2008, 01:01 PM
Na~...they have been uploaded to the server and they exist in the "images/misc" folder so that can't be the problem.

Yes, but the 4 PNGs are not that images. If not they would have to be named "forum_new.gif" and "forum_old.gif"
If you want to use my images, replace that GIF with this:

Silver, the Reply button is made with a hardcoded spanish word (my bad, sorry about that.. i will try to edit that words and re-upload), with a CSS style (mobile_button)...
Maybe you can't see it because that 'mobile_button' uses a webkit sentence: "-webkit-border-image:", and I think you can only see it using Safari (or mobile safari, in your iPhone for instance). The image that uses for that "webkit-border-image" is "../../images/misc/mobile_button.png", wich is included in the ZIP file...
Don't know what do you mean with "custom buttons"... But check it on Safari first...

Just a suggestion. Add a script in this theme so that when users access the forum with the iPod Touch/iPhone, the skin automatically changes to the iPhone optimized theme.

I've been doing quite a bit of work to this to trim it down, and though it still has a ways to go, if anyone would like my version (And ElForro doesn't mind) I can upload it.
Forumhome (basically done):

Forumdisplay (needs some list work):

Showthread: (needs a lot of work, especially lighter images) and some trimming of the left cell:

Great call. Looks MUCH better.
I've attached my current incarnation of it. Be warned, it has a LOT of bugs, most notably that I somehow managed to break the alternating table row, as you can see in this pic. I managed to bandaid fix it by just enclosing the entire thing in a table (header/footer).
Edit: Now that I look, it seems it's a bug in the original template (http://www.elforro.com/index.php?styleid=15), not my doing. :D
http://www.sevenstring.org/chris/ssmobiless_1.jpg
There shouldn't be many hardcoded links, but there might be. I got quite a few PM's about it, and am about to leave on business travel for 3 weeks so I'll just attach it here. If someone/anyone can improve on it and help me fix the table bug above, that'd be awesome. :) I just won't have any time to work on it until I'm back home in May.
Note that:
I spent a lot of time working on this skin, so if you decide to use it on your forums, PLEASE leave the "Design by:" legend. (it's only at the bottom)
Isn't in the footer, I haven't actually been using the theme, but it will be there when I have it working in a fashion that's suitable. :)

There is a problem in your FORUMDISPLAY
When I try to edit it, I get this error message:
The conditional on line 40 appears to be missing its beginning tag (<if>). This may cause unexpected behavior.
You have also made a mistke with the search link. There is a Slash before search.php
<a class="mobilebutton" href="/search.php">Search</a>
it should be
<a class="mobilebutton" href="search.php">Search</a>
This wrong link occours in FORUMDISPLAY, FORUMHOME and a third template (i have forgeotten the name of the template).
You should also include this template edit by deafult: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1457373&postcount=26

This is a beautifully-designed skin, and I have been using it as a basis for a skin for my site. However, I'm having problems adapting it for use with sites that have nested forums. For example:
--Category
----Forum (no posts)
------Forum (posts)
------Forum (posts)
----Forum (no posts)
------Forum (posts)
... etc.
Is there a way to get these subforums properly rendered when users select a parent forum?

I tried applying the fixes to the templates mentioned in that thread, but what I am wondering is... do I have to put that line of code in above EVERY instance of the submit button on all those templates? Some seem to have multiple instances where it has the submit button code.
Wish Elforro would release an update with these issues fixed ;). I'm not too savvy with coding; hence my confusion hehe.

OK, I'm a bit stuck on trying to edit this skin's colors & images. Mainly I am trying to get that navbar at the top to display correctly on the forum display, but it looks fine on the homepage and in a thread display. Here's two screenshots I took directly on my iPod Touch so you can see:
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/
This is how it should look. The buttons are nicely inset into the navbar
But when I try to view a forum section, this is how it looks (assuming this is in relation to the forumdisplay template's code):
https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/
You can see the buttons are not lined up/overlayed properly and the navbar is too thin.
Does anyone have any clue as to what code I need to alter/fix to correct this display issue? OR what code would I put in to display the forum's title on the navbar maybe? So it says Showcase; like it says Thread on the other? Maybe that would fix the navbar height issue here.

Also, I noticed there is no button to post a New Thread. Any ideas on how to add that to the forumdisplay? And any associated code in templates?
Kinda makes it difficult for viewers to post new threads then hehe.
And also, is there anyway to add the forum jump menu to the main page, forum display, and thread display layout? It seems the only place I've seen it show up is when you click the New Posts link and it shows up on the results page; which seems to be a search.php output.

OK... I figured out how to add the Forum Jump menu to it. Figured I'd post it here for whomever wishes to do the same ;).
Edit the FORUMHOME, FORUMDISPLAY, & SHOWTHREAD templates:
=================================================
On each templates... scroll down to the bottom. Look for the $footer bit of codes, and just add this code above it:
<div class="smallfont" align=center style="text-align:$stylevar[center]; white-space:nowrap">
<form action="forumdisplay.php" method="get">
<input type="hidden" name="s" value="$session[sessionhash]" />
<input type="hidden" name="daysprune" value="$daysprune" />
<strong>$vbphrase[forum_jump]</strong><br />
<select name="f" class="iphone_jump" onchange="this.form.submit();">
<optgroup label="$vbphrase[site_areas]">
<option value="cp" $frmjmpsel[usercp]>$vbphrase[user_control_panel]</option>
<option value="pm" $frmjmpsel[pm]>$vbphrase[private_messages]</option>
<option value="subs" $frmjmpsel[subs]>$vbphrase[subscriptions]</option>
<option value="wol" $frmjmpsel[wol]>$vbphrase[whos_online]</option>
<option value="search" $frmjmpsel[search]>$vbphrase[search_forums]</option>
<option value="home" $frmjmpsel[home]>$vbphrase[forums_home]</option>
</optgroup>
<optgroup label="$vbphrase[forums]">
$jumpforumbits
</optgroup>
</select>$gobutton
</form>
</div>
I know it's supposed to work by just adding $forumjump which would pull this code from that template, but for some weird reason... it just would not work. So I simply added the code from the forumjump template; with centering the div as well, so it displays directly above the footer on the main forum page, the forums display page, and each thread display page. Handy for navigating & accessing areas of your forums for iPhone/Touch users then.
I'm gonna try adding a Return to Top link just above the forum jump aligned to the left side then so it's easier for iPhone/Touch users to navigate back to the top of the page without having to scroll all the way up. Saves time when viewing large threads, thread lists, etc.

OK, I'm a bit stuck on trying to edit this skin's colors & images. Mainly I am trying to get that navbar at the top to display correctly on the forum display, but it looks fine on the homepage and in a thread display. Here's two screenshots I took directly on my iPod Touch so you can see:
http://www.mindwiped.com/pics/snap2.jpg
This is how it should look. The buttons are nicely inset into the navbar
But when I try to view a forum section, this is how it looks (assuming this is in relation to the forumdisplay template's code):
http://www.mindwiped.com/pics/snap1.jpg
You can see the buttons are not lined up/overlayed properly and the navbar is too thin.
Does anyone have any clue as to what code I need to alter/fix to correct this display issue? OR what code would I put in to display the forum's title on the navbar maybe? So it says Showcase; like it says Thread on the other? Maybe that would fix the navbar height issue here.
OK, I figured out this problem. If you go into the FORUMDISPLAY template, look for this code:
<div class="mobiletitle">
And add this code right BELOW it:
$foruminfo[title_clean]
That will resolve the issue of the thinner navbar issue I had previously.
=======================================
Hmmm... I tried adding a Back to Top link to the FORUMHOME, FORUMDISPLAY, & SHOWTHREAD templates... by adding these two lines of code:
Add this code right ABOVE the $header tag at the top:
<a name="top"></a>
then
Add this code directly above the $footer code; or directly above the forum jump menu div container if you added that from my above post:
<div align=right><a href="#top">Top</a></div>
And this works in normal browsers, but when I try to use the Top link in Safari on my iPod Touch, it doesn't work. Anyone have any clues as to why this is? Or if I put in the wrong code or something??
=======================================
I know this stuff is probably simple edits for a lot of your experienced/advanced coders, but for people like me who suck/hate coding hehe.... it's useful info for editing this excellent skin.

I have an iteration of this that I have modified that you can see here: http://www.puritanboard.com/index.php?styleid=27
I have added the security tokens back into the style. I've also put the New Thread button back in the FORUMDISPLAY template, added the Quote back into the postbit template, and added the Reply button back into the SHOWTHREAD template.
It uses the default buttons for display so you can modify that if you want.
I've also changed the Spanish controls into English.
Finally, I've removed the custom image in the header template so the header image may be customized in the Style Options.
EDIT: Style updated to fix postbit issues to allow user to jump to post.
EDIT 2: options template reverted. Resolves security token issue and some other odd edits in the template.

In fact, the same thing is happening on Elforro's site with his style. It will jump me to the last page of a thread, but not down to the last post. If I test it on Firefox or IE it will work just fine and go down to the anchor, but on the iPhone it's not jumping down to the anchor like it should.
UPDATE: Ok, I figured out why this was happening. This javascript in headinclude causes iPhones to jump back up to the top of the screen. Commenting that out makes the anchors work correctly.

why are the xml files set to pull images from the default location for statiusicons? that means you have to overwrite your normal template's icons to make this work? Most skins will put their files in the skin directory and then the xml file will tell the skin where to find the images.. :confused:
just wondering because I uploaded this file and imported the xml and everything was good, then I noticed that my normal style was all jacked up due to having mixed icons from he iphone style.

Thanks so much for asking and answering this, msu2k. This was bugging me too, I couldn't figure it out, and came here to try and ask the same question. Since scrolling long pages is a bit of a pain on the iPhone, it was keeping me from embracing/releasing this skin on my forum. Your fix changed that, and I appreciate it. :up:

I was going through this thread myself and adding in all the edits being mentioned -- at least, the ones I could figure out -- so your post saved me from hairpulling and spending a lot of time.
I do notice that on long threads, that go to a second page, that there's a redundant box at the top, that lists "Page x of x" twice. See it here:

This is great! There are a few issues already mentioned that stop it from being perfect. For reference, I'm using SemperFideles's modification, which is as bug-free and English-optimized as I've found this theme to get. In addition, I'm using the modification to the newreply template stated in the post directly above this.
The list of what needs to be fixed from SemperFideles's release:
When browsing a specific forum, the top iPhone navigation bar is too skinny for the buttons (a screenshot was provided earlier in the thread)
When replying to a PM, the recipient's username overlaps the word "Recipients:"
"What's Going On" lacks additional stats beyond the number of users online
Profile Pages aren't in tune with the vB 3.7 profiles
You can't view or enter subforums! They don't even show up.
When posting, lines breaks don't register as new paragraphs - the whole post comes out as a lump.
That's the major stuff. It would be great to see if, perhaps, SemperFideles could add this (in addition to the modification Tralala mentioned above) to his modification? In addition, it would be neat to be able to edit posts from here with the simple non-WYSIYWG editor that Tralala provided above.
MissKalunji

I did fix other stuff... like the "post new reply" i removed the WYSIYWG it was too much
- Recipients:? i don't have that problem....i wouldn't be bale to help only if i can reproduce it
- About the 3.7 Profiles the main reason i believe they done it standard was because it would be too heavy for the mobile itself..
- You can't view or enter subforums? where? from the index?
- The bar being too skinny problem : https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showpost.php?p=1555184&postcount=76
as for everything else keep in mind that you can't show everything when you are using mobile...the heavier it is more chance you get to crash on you...if you're looking to show everything you might as well just give them the full style no? Just a thought...

I meant more that certain areas are incompatible. It tries to display IM information, but that predates it to vB6 - the information doesn't show up.

No, from within the parent forum. For example, we have a forum called "Community Central". Posts are made in one of the five separate subforums within Community Central, and no posts are made in the main Community Central board. However, this skin does not show those subforums.

I don't think it's too much for mobile devices to handle, especially the iPhone that it was built for. In addition, I don't think it's going to *crash* under any circumstances...
I'll work on applying some of this stuff myself, though. :P
Cool let me know if you need more help :). i was just giving an advice about the crashing cause some of those news websites crashes the browser but you are right most of them are just variable to add anyways

This is a beautifully-designed skin, and I have been using it as a basis for a skin for my site. However, I'm having problems adapting it for use with sites that have nested forums. For example:
--Category
----Forum (no posts)
------Forum (posts)
------Forum (posts)
----Forum (no posts)
------Forum (posts)
... etc.
Is there a way to get these subforums properly rendered when users select a parent forum?
yes any solution to this?? :confused:

Are you sure that's the issue? Deleting that code didn't solve the problem for me.
Edit: Figured it out. It's in the postbit template. I added the a name back in and it works now.
Can you clarify about adding the a name back?
For reference, I'm using SemperFideles's modification
It looks great - thanks. However I cannot see the icon that takes one to the first unread post of each thread on the "New Posts" results page. Have I messed up or is it missing?
Anyone ever figure this out. The "go to first new post" in each thread is a very important feature imo that could really be a nice addition to this skin.

I'm having an issue w/ this skin in that every link ends up on it's own line. I'm trying to modify the search results a bit to give me some functionality that I have w/ one of the other mobile skins. W/ that skin, I get a link to the thread, the number of posts in it in parentheses, then if there are multiple pages, it creates a link to each page. Works great on the mobile skin b/c that all ends up on one line. When I try doing the same thing in the iPhone skin, I end up w/ each page link on it's own line & it's a) annoying, and b) ugly. Any ideas?

In the 'threadbit' template, find this line:
<a href="showthread.php?$session[sessionurl]t=$thread[threadid]$thread[highlight]" id="thread_title_$thread[realthreadid]"
and add goto=newpost& to before the t=$thread part.

In ElForro's default style, the link to each thread just goes to the last post. What I added above takes you to the first new post. You'll also need to comment out this part as noted in this post:
Just installed this on my site and it looks great! One problem I'm encountering on my iPhone, and this happens when I visit your site as well, the jump to last post button isn't working correctly. It just takes me to the last page, but not down to an anchor for the last post itself. Any idea why this is happening?
In fact, the same thing is happening on Elforro's site with his style. It will jump me to the last page of a thread, but not down to the last post. If I test it on Firefox or IE it will work just fine and go down to the anchor, but on the iPhone it's not jumping down to the anchor like it should.
UPDATE: Ok, I figured out why this was happening. This javascript in headinclude causes iPhones to jump back up to the top of the screen. Commenting that out makes the anchors work correctly.
<script type="application/x-javascript">
if (!!navigator.userAgent.match(/.*Mobile.*Safari/))
{
addEventListener("load", function()
{
setTimeout(hideURLbar, 0);
}, false);
}
function hideURLbar()
{
window.scrollTo(0, 1);
}

I did. On line 3233 or around there, there is this line:
<div id="post_message_$post[postid]">$post[message]</div>
Add this line following that:
<a href="#" onClick="vbform.message.value = '' + document.getElementById('post_message_$post[postid]').innerHTML + '\n\n';vbform.message.focus();return false;"><img align=right border=0 src="images/buttons/quote.gif"></a>
NOTE!!! - this post here didn't let me put in code with the [Q U O T E] tag, so I had to rename it MYQUOTE instead. Replace MYQUOTE with QUOTE in your template...
Works pretty good for now...

Thanks,

Using CR Turbo guy's xml file as a template, I made a whole host of changes:
- Added edit button
- Added new post with basic editor (no WYSIWYG editor)
- Fixed headers on each page
- SubForms now work, but you need to add in the extra templates (forumhome_forumbit_level3_post, etc. - do a search info is here on vb.org)
- Added breadcrumbs
- Custom forum jump menu at bottom
- QUOTE button for quick replies at bottom
See the results here: http://forums.pelicanparts.com
You can select the style "iPhone Optmized" in your regular browser (Firefox) to view how it would looks sortof on the iPhone (if you don't have one handy).
Enjoy!

Have a look at this post over here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?p=1502304#post1502304 - similar changes made to this style should fix it
As a quick way to patch the security token issue for this style, do a search in this style for:
<input type="hidden" name="s" value="$session[sessionhash]" />
And in each template that it finds WHICH HAS ALSO BE CUSTOMIZED FOR THE STYLE, add this underneath:
<input type="hidden" name="securitytoken" value="$bbuserinfo[securitytoken]" />
If you just do a search and replace, it will replace all instances of the searched term, even those where the correct style was inherited from the default, which would leave you with duplicates of that added line.
Hopefully this helps!

Yep, just noticed this. I also noticed that the reply page was all messed up as far as the recipients being on top of the "Recipients" text label. Same with Title & Message. I fixed those, and I changed editing a post so that it uses a small text box instead of the WYSIWYG editor.

2) How can I change the colors of the button images? Is there a tutorial on how to make those in photoshop somewhere?
mac-warez

you can change the color of the buttons by opening them in photoshop and pressing command+u for mac or control+u for windows. then just change the hue and saturation until you get a color you want. then do the same for the rest of the images. then save them and upload them they wont match the css so go into the css editor and change the colors up to match your buttons. if you need any further explanation i would be glad to help.

I know the regular mobile style by Dartho has the ability to add 'Posted via Mobile Device' to every post, but haven't quite seen where he hooks that in. Shouldn't be too hard to do.
As for colors, it's in the CSS. Took me quite a while of fiddling to get away from the green that El Forro originally used.

To add this, you have to add a plugin. I'm including the plugin that I have for my board. You will need to edit this to use the styleid for your mobile style. In the file, change the 10 in

Sorry for the delay... In regards to seeing sub forums...I just made the setting is "Forum Listings Display Options" as the following...
Depth of Forums - Forum Home = 2
Depth of Forums - Forum Display = 2
Depth of Sub-Forums = 3
and that seemed to do the trick.

Looks nice, except your header disappears on some pages (like searches) and there's no way to get back to the forum home??

I have this installed here:
www.medicalspouse.com/forums
I can't really figure out how to edit away the green to replace it with a bluish theme or make it more like my real forums. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm all ears!
I really like the way the forums feel though with this style.
Is there a way to make it so that when you click on a post you don't have to scroll through the entire page or pages to see the last post?
Beyond that...I really think it's great!!!!
Thanks for a great template for mobile users.

It sounds like both of you are using an older version that does not have the security tokens fixed. If you read through this thread, it's posted several times how to fix this issue.

No, unfortunately not. The author, ElForro, hasn't really kept up with updates on this skin. If you search my posts, I've posted a couple different versions that I've modified to a.) fix things, and b.) add additional features. If you do a comparison of the original and my versions, you'll see what's changed.

CR_TurboGuy - I installed your Feb 27 version and love it. Gona get on tweaking up the CSS for colors and such.
Has anyone been able to figure out the style-specific postbit issue? I searched quite a bit and found nothing.

nevermind the above.
I would like to know from you Turboguy how do I change that orange color you've got at the bottom of the forum? I'm thinking it's a background color because when I refresh the header is showing that same color before it gets to the green color it's supposed to have.

this style has been rehashed over here: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=211438 and it is marked as 'Supported'
Oops - they've since removed the download and marked it as a "Paid Style" :confused:

I have never done any work installing or working with VB skins, all my work is done within the admincp.
Excuse my "noob" questions, but i'd really appreciate the help!
I just installed this skin using the xml file, and its working fine. I've been looking around the server to try and find the folder which contains its resources (to modify and add images and such) and I can't find it. Could you guys tell me where is the skin installed and what is the folder called?
Also, in which templates are the parameters for the colour and general look and settings of the skin stored?
Thanks very much in advance!

That's a attribute in one of the css sections. I don't remember exactly where, but you want to find the HTML color code for that orange. Unfortunately, I don't know the specific color code off the top of my head to search for to replace.

This skin doesn't install into a 'folder' per se. It becomes another style. To change most of the items, you'll need to go the edit template portion of the AdminCP and edit the templates for this style.

Ok, after diffing my version w/ the original, it looks like it's color #FF6600 you need to search for in the XML. Or you should be able to go into the 'Main CSS' editor option for the style, scroll to the bottom, and they are defined in the 'Additional CSS Definitions' area. You're looking for the '.mobiletitle', and '.mobiletitlebottom' sections. You should see the color definition there. Change that to be what you want. The other place that color is defined is in the 'Buttons' section of the CSS style, you'll probably want to change it there as well. Hope that helps.

Assuming the iPhone supports JavaScript redirects (hopefully it does but I dont have one to test), this should help
Edit the template of your normal navbar template with the following (if you already have his detector javascript in there, remove it).
<script type="text/javascript">
if ((navigator.userAgent.indexOf('iPhone') != -1) ||
(navigator.userAgent.indexOf('iPod') != -1)) {
window.location.href = "$_SERVER[PHP_SELF]?<if condition="$_SERVER['QUERY_STRING']">$_SERVER[QUERY_STRING]&</if>styleid=XX";
}
</script>
Replace XX with the iPhone styleID

Or just use Dartho's Mobile Phone / iPhone / PDA Detection and Style Assignment (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=173239) addon.

I'm attempting to use this style for Symbian-powered touchscreen smartphones (Nokia 5800XM, Nokia N97, Samsung i8910, etc).
It actually works/looks decent out of the box, using Dartho's Mobile Device Detection plugin. However, a few things aren't working properly, such as search. I'm also having trouble figuring out how/where to get rid of the 'ElForro' in the very top header, as well as the ability to show new posts, etc (some navigation options, basically).

In ElForro's default style, the link to each thread just goes to the last post. What I added above takes you to the first new post. You'll also need to comment out this part as noted in this post:

I may be being really simple here but what the heck does 'comment out' mean?
Thanks.

Ah thanks. It was something obvious :)
Although its still not working. It should be working. When I click on the "last post" the URL is correct and should be taking me to that, and in any other scheme it does yet not this one...
I've even tried copying over the theadbit template from TurboGuy's which does work but its still not on this one that I've adapted from the original.
But I suppose I can just adapt Turbo's if needs be, but if anyone can think of a solution to this i'd really appreciate it :)
Actually after adapting Turbo's I have come to the conclusion it is my postbit legacy as I have adapted that so that it is very much cut down (no sigs or avatars shown) and the postbit is on top. Will look into it tomorrow with a clear head.

As much as I appreciate and like the scheme I'm having a whole host of issues with it and tried using some of the alternatives posted but I'm getting different problems all over the place.
1) The buttons on the qucik reply box (bold, italics, underline etc) don't work. I've asked someone else to try and pressing them does nothing.
2) The "go to last read post" button doesn't work. It either takes me to the top of the thread, or to the very last post. I can't seem to get it to work going to the last read one if the post is in the middle of the page.
Any help would be really appreciated :)

This is a link to the scheme; http://www.n-europe.com/forum/index.php?styleid=42
Although it works fine on a browser, but not on an iPod/Phone (had a few people try as well). This (http://www.n-europe.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1034581&postcount=428) is a link to a post with a spoiler in it, as the spoiler button also doesn't work.
Thanks :)
