Site Map for vB3.7
Version 1.0.4
(By Boofo)
What does this product do?
This product will add a Site Map to your site, similar to the one on vbulletin.org, but with no queries.
Version Information:
Version 1.0.1 --Initial release for vB3.7
Version 1.0.2 --Added additional site links to the bottom of the site map.
Version 1.0.3 --Added checks for external files (PhotoPost, The Arcade, Paul M's Flashchat Integration hack for vB3.7 and The Radio and TV hack). If the corresponding files are found on your site in their default locations, the links will show for those hacks. If the files are not found, the links will not show. Also added RSS Feeds buttons for Google, Windows Live and Yahoo.
Version 1.0.4 --Code has been totally re-written. Added RSS Feeds buttons for MSN, AOL, Bloglines, Newsgator and Technorati. Added new mouseover affect. Redid the file checks and made some of them product checks. Added vB News link.
Branding: A Copyright has been added to the footer and is not allowed to be removed. If you want the copyright removed, you must contact me via PM for terms.
Credits:
A big thank you goes out to Kirk Y for supplying the core code, co-authoring and allowing me to release this for vB3.7. Also thanks goes out to Andreas and SirAdrian for their invaluable help and guidance.

Bobby when you release hacks like this i haven't any trouble to click INSTALL :D
but, i've got some troubles with your hacks that wants some template edits ... for those hacks i wanna wait the Gold 3.7.x (i think that i've already told you my point of view in the other threads) cause i don't want redo all the edits in the new templates (maybe Jelsoft change something in the new versions) ...
anyway i put the Site Map link in the footer ... it's simply perfect!
GREAT, REALLY GREAT JOB!
edit: about new links (i removed the chat cause i haven't) but i need a couple: one for the arcade and one for the radio & tv ...
Boofo
02-29-2008, 07:40 PM
ok, give me the file names and locations for the link and what you want the link as.
As far as template edits, I just check for updated templates on the upgrade and only do those that say they need to be done. This last upgrade had only 2 so it was a breeze for me. You could be waiting for a while for the Gold.

Bobby there are too many! :D
anyway i think that if you add the Paul M's hacks you do a complete job ... (i mean the track guests, members has posted, etc) all the people must have those hacks installed ... obviously that's my opinion, but if you check the 3.6.8 installations ... :)
Boofo
02-29-2008, 09:24 PM
I've added the following additional links so far:
Arcade
Chat with us - Has now been changed to only show if you have Paul's Flashchat Integration hack installed. No need to remove it anymore.
Radio and TV
Gallery
We don't want to make the list too long. We only want the main site links here. Otherwise, things like the GTFooter Info Panel by Princeton and other hacks that do the same sort of thing become redundant. Most people don't use the site map as often as we'd like. If you can think of any other main ones, let me know soon. I will release this in a while after I hear from you.

I'm working on it. I tracked down the code giving the error and am waiting for a response on it now. The weird thing is that you are the only one who has reported an error in the part of the code. But we will get it fixed. ;)
A nice feature would be to be able to disable subforums individually, either by introducing the forumids separated by whatever (eg commas) or in the subforum configuration with a disable option
Great mod ^^ can't wait to upgrade to 3.7 :P this wouldnt be compatible with 3.6.8 by any chance :O?
PS lol @ the threadid 171717 <--hehe
Not sure, but maybe the images should be using the style misc directory?
PS 2: it works in 3.6.8 ^^ it should actually work on all 3.6s

Hey there Bob!
This works GREAT on 3.6.7! I LOVE it!!!
However, it is NOT pulling in any of the information from my vBadvanced products as I had hoped. (It does not map any vBa product categories.)
My Site Map (http://nashvillechristian.com/forums/info.php?do=sitemap)
My vBa Articles Section (http://nashvillechristian.com/articles/index.php)
My vBa Media Section (http://nashvillechristian.com/media/index.php)
My vBa Links Directory (http://nashvillechristian.com/links/index.php)
It seems to me that it wouldn't be too hard to direct this product to search in these other areas as well, however this is beyond my abilities.
I know that a huge portion of this community runs vBa on their site. Could you possilby modify your code to include the vBa products in your very cool Site Map?
This is awesome! I just hope I can use it for my whole site! You get this to work on vBa, and you'll get my vote for Mod of the Month!
Thanks for all your hard work!
:) Jeff

Apparently, your vBa areas don't use the forumcache. As I don't use vBa, I have no way of knowing how they are pulling the areas. They would have to be added manually, I'm afraid.

PhotoPost is checked for and displays a Gallery link if found. As far as the others you mentioned, I would need to know if there is a product installed for each one to work with vb and the product name, or just a file that it links to and what that filename is.
Don't forget the install button as you don't want to miss any updates.

It does come with a product/plugin. As does vBulletin blog. For vBulletin blog though, you could check the product or if this file exists:
blog.php
Not sure about the Photoplog product, but the file can be downloaded with the rest of the mod here at vBulletin.org
Boofo
03-18-2008, 11:37 AM
PhotoPost can also be done without product integration so I used a file search for that link. File searches are more server intensive than product ID searches, so I try to stay with that option as much as possible. If someone can give me the product IDs for the blog and PhotoPlog, I will add them. As I don't use either item, I have no interest in downloading then.

Yes, there seems to be a problem for a few users of the mod with the same problem you are having. It is using the forumcache to pull the listing whereas the earlier version was using a query. I am still trying to figure out what causes it to not work on a few sites. It almost has to be another hack interfering with it somehow.

The ones that could also be considered in the first instance imho would be
A link for the search engine one like the (is it) xml one for Google etc and also one that would incorporate pages from VB advanced and other possible usage of index page (CMS systems) as well as vb advanced's other pages or pages generated from well lets say Dreamweaver or even simple notepad pages eg anything & everything that should be getting seen and listed being done so.
Hope that is clear? SEO is my thing and am not completely au fait if I am making sense or speaking the right language for the likes of you experienced coders

What other type of site maps? You lost me, sorry. ;)
Hi Boofo
Someone else mentioned extending this to include other pages. (Which was part of what I had also mentioned previously)
I would like to know if that will be happening to as if you look at my site and the site map here > Site Map (http://www.tvworlds.com/forum/info.php?do=sitemap) install you will see the site map does not include pages that are essentially external to the VBulletin software lke for example my index page which is using VBAdvanced.
I would like to see pages external to the forum being displayed to - maybe on the right side of page so it is clear that links down the left are internal to the forum and the ones on the right are external to the forum if you get my drift
Boofo
05-17-2008, 01:48 PM
I have looked into that and decided it would be more of a headache than it is worth to add external pages support. If I add VBAdvanced support, then I have to worry if they change things later on and trying to keep up with that between versions, as well as support for whatever else comes along as external pages.
If vb adds support for those in the future, then this should pick it up fine as it uses the forumcache.

- Your mod worked perfectly in VB.
- From vBa the link to my site map, didn't open the site map, it opened a 404 page. It never worked with vba.
- I added 'info.php' to the Footer Replacements settings, and the link from vba to the site map worked.
- I have photopost and photoclassifieds integrated with vb. When I go to either program the link to the site map goes to a 404 page.
I am trying to get the link, to open the sitemap, instead of the 404 page when using photopost and photoclassifieds.

I am trying to add this to Google's Webmaster tools for SiteMap inclusion. It tells me that I am using the wrong format and that it's not supported.
Any ideas??

This won't work for that. You need another mod for that. Read the thread as it was discussed in here somewhere, I think.

I have the Site Map MOD installed and I get the main site map page by going to the myforums/info.php?do=sitemap link. However, when I click on any of the RSS images I get a blank page. I have followed all of the intructions.

I figured it out. I had my forums turned "off". Turned on and everything is displaying. INSTALLED.

I had to uninstall as in the Site Map it showed forums I did not want my members to know existed. Like Staff forums and stuff.

You were able to see those forums because of the permissions. Regular users who could not see those forums could not see them in the site map either. The permissions work. Did you try logging out and looking at the site map?

Why do people never think of that? ;)

Because it's easier and more fun to complain, of course. ;)

Great product! I have but one slight problem, the rss button at the top of the site map leads me to a bare page with not even any source to view. What did I do wrong?

Do you have the RSS feeds setting turned on in the Admin CP?

Feed is enabled but nothing else in that section of my admin cp has ever been configured. Are there certain settings I should change in order to make this work?

Is the feed button the only thing that isn't working? How about the feed button in each forum?

That might be the indicator.... I'm not seeing a feed button in the forums. But, to answer your question, all the other buttons are working.

But when I try to view it I get a blank page lol. Meaning everything I enabled for some guest to not be able to view, none of my members can...

My last post seems to have been overlooked.
I read over the thread and could not find a solution to my problem. I would like to get
- PhotoPost; &
- vB Blog to be listed.
Is there a way to force the links to appear?
Also, I assume that one can make their own personal entries on the Site Map? Can you provide general info on this.
Thanks for the great mod.

PhotoPost has already been added to the links. vB Blog would be easy enough to add. Just look in the template for the mod as the links are in there.

Bug:
If guests can not view a forum, the rss will appear blank even if members have permission to view.
Boofo
06-03-2008, 11:46 AM
That is not a bug. That is exactly how vb works. You only see what guests can see, no matter who you are.
Now, please click install.

I think I did see the sitemap on your site after I posted.
I like this but would be interested in any copyright removal. :)
