People seem to rave about hostgator on here. Shared hosting will be a pain if your board is in anyway successful. You need either vps or a server in reality.

As its growing and i have setup it just a month ago

Presently i have no bucks to go for vps or a dedicated server
later i may opt it ( if i earn some from the board)

But as of now what should i prefer??

Crissic Solutions is one of the better options. I have referred many people that have HostGator and HostICan shared hosting to move to Crissic's shared hosting, and they haven't regretted the move.
http://crissic.com -- check them out. If you need help ask for Skylar, he provides amazing support and is very friendly.

I use Colorteck and I love them. I've been with them just over a year and they've always been reponsive, kept the software up to date, and are really helpful when I'm having trouble with something weird. they also have fantastico and cpanel with all the latest stuff.

I don’t think majority of the US hosts will host your forum; it is strange that Yahoo! is hosting it right now, most probably because it’s a small forum. Better start looking for hosts in some small European country or at a place where piracy laws aren’t that strict.

Jesus it is slow lol. I use http://www.mjwebhosting.com/mjw/index.html very helpful and reliable guy. His shared starts at $5 up to $15.99 depending on what you
need, mention my name if you go there. I recommend him highly and he will help you move.

I would have to suggest LunarPages.

Their shared serving accounts are great and their support is exceptional.

I would recommend my webhost.
I have been with them for more than 4 years and is still hosting my site with them. They are very responsive to all my support questions. I seldom run into any problem and server uptime is very good. After all, they have been in the hosting business since 2001. I would say their service is reliable and come highly recommended. Check them out at http://www.mxhub.com .

Based on the good info I heard I tried to give Host Gator my business, but they are just so darn busy. I have been trying to contact "Chad B - the Vbulletin guy" about moving my site and 60 other domains to them since Sunday (4 days). Unfortunately the hold time of 12-18 minutes for sales and support has been too painful...

I hope they are worth it. Hoefully he will read this and contact me.

I seriously suggest you give LunarPages a try -- they are great!

Support is better than you can wish for, and is one of the main reasons why I would recommend them. Also, there hosting is great, just check out the 'basic plan'.

Regards Jason :)

I verified this.

Please wait for a HostGator operator to respond.

A HostGator operator should be with you shortly! Thank you for your patience.

Welcome to HostGator Live Chat! You are now chatting with 'Priscilla T.'

Priscilla T.: Welcome to HostGator, how may I assist you?

Me: Hi Priscilla. I am running a web forum, and I heard good things about HostGator. On the other hand, I have also heard that HostGator shutsdown accounts that have moer than 25 users, and send more than 200 emails an hour. Is this true?

Priscilla T.: There is a 500 hourly email limit per domain on all shared servers;

Priscilla T.: That is true

Me: Ok, what about 25 members on at one time (with vBulletin)

Priscilla T.: What you mean by HostGator shutsdown accounts that have more than 25 users

Me: I was just reading reviews, and they said that for popular forums (mine has 6500 members), that Hostgator doesnt allow moer than 25 connections at once

Me: I want to move to you guys, but am just worried about this

Priscilla T.: Hostgator allow maximum of 25 connection simultaneously. If you having 5 domains, then its 25 connection each domain, and total of 125 connections.

Me: Wow ok... so it wouldn't work on a popular forum then

Priscilla T.: Correct

Me: Ok, Thank you.

HostGator is good, my site has 900 members or so and usually about 100 on during a day. I have been with them since November but just the other day I got a message stating I went over the 25 concurrent members. But according to vB there is normally 30+ members on the site at one time. This is the only problem I have had with hostgator. I guess if I keep getting it I will just have to upgrade.

Well www.ReadyToHost.net has a free hosting plan that does allow mysql.. You could make an account there and test the free one out first to see if it fits your needs and upgrade as you need to.
