We'll either way, you'll have to use a database, but they're probably going to use their own, so it shouldn't make a difference. From what I think you're asking, you're going to upload tie files to their server.

in other words, you can't put it on someone's site without the license, this is the file in the forums root, then it's piracy, but if you give them the license, then it is theirs, there isn't an easy way to put it on someone else's site, but still keep ownership. I think. I'm not sure.

They WILL be able to see your files if you upload it to their ftp account.

it will need a new database on there server just create a new user to go with it and then your details won't be on it.

But i'm not sure this is possible without breaking the terms of your licence

In your case 100%, unlicensed site that is using your files reported to piracy.

Let me try to clarify some things:
- Each license allows you to power a single board at any time.
- The URL of the board that is using the files for that license must be set in the license (Members' Area -> Edit License). Make sure to keep this up2date.
- Boards found without their URL set in a valid license are considered piracy.
- It is the responsibility of the license owner to ensure his licensed files are kept safe.

You can use your license on any site you want, as long as the licensed URL is set correctly. So if you want to install your copy of vBulletin on your friends site www.xxx.com (http://www.xxx.com), then all should should ensure is that this URL is set for your license.

About keeping your files secure: Anyone with FTP access to the (directories on the) server can download/read them. There is not much you can do about that. So if you can not trust everyone with server access for 100%, i would not be doing this. If someone would take your files and install them elsewhere, then it will be your problem.

PS Please do not ask about getting caught. "Getting caught" is something that will only happen if you are doing something illegal or break the license agreement. We can not allow discussions on the chance of getting caught with something illegal and our rules even explictly forbid discusing any warez or illegal activities.
