I got a problem with the WoW Roster.

As you can see there arnt any pictures. The site uses only names instead of the pictures like on your site.

Read further back in the post, your issue is the encoding being used. Seems that if your sql uses UTF8 it will not correctly install.

Looks like you made an error in the config. It should read as follows:
EU|Aggramar|Voice of the Many

Make sure you type with capitals and spaces in it also the server needs to be the same as armory.

I'm using the latest version, but I'm still seeing players with jumbled names, who have special characters in their names. It also won't update the talent tree for these guys. Is there a fix for this?

Hey Gryphon are you still updating this for vb3?
I made a bunch of changes & fixes (Special Characters, Prefixes, Suffixes, Guild Rank, Professions, Icons, and more). I am also working on integrating it with your Events plugin (as I mentioned over there (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=170592&p=2120273))

Also what does this addon use the userfield for? I can't find any where in the code that uses this information, other than in the admincp settings. Was this something you were doing for future use?

I would revert your changes to correct your error

mmm you mean the links?
well there are a couple of ways to do this.

The easiest is to change the Template files to not use the link from the DB. (remove $player[charurl], and replace it with the new url).

For example:
<a href="$player[charurl]" target="_blank">
becomes:
<a href="http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/$guild[realm]/$player[charname]/simple" target="_blank">

This is a quick short term fix, as an upgrade or reinstall would revert these changes ;)

Replace that line you found. If you look the replace code is 2 lines, the commented out one was just the original code, you don't have to keep it

EDIT: alright, I've found a fix to the issue with the database error when trying to install the product.

Go to your PHPMyAdmin, and execute the following command:


ALTER DATABASE yourdbname CHARACTER SET latin1 COLLATE latin1_swedish_ci;


That should change the database's character set you're currently using to latin1_swedish_ci (ISO-8859-1). It installed without any issue now. The only possible issue I could imagine happening would be names that are absolutely multi-byte - such as Japanese; I don't think that is used in WoW, though.

Yeah, this mod needs work for Cata data to show up properly. I have done some pretty extensive work on it, but have not yet had a chance to send it to the Author.

Goblin = 9

as for the Specs, give it time. It takes awhile for Cron script to get all of your toons data updated.

The reason I reinstalled this is because I changed the character set from utf8 to latin1. It installed fine then, but then character names - such as K?ri? - appeared oddly with copyright symbols and whatnot, as latin1 isn't multi-byte supportive.

From my understanding, the reason this occurs is because these values are occurring:

(2 + 100 + 100 + 100 + 100 + 100) * 3 = 1506 bytes

Any way to have a workaround to either the 1000bytes error, or the characters whilst using another character set than utf8 (should the former not be fixable ATM)?

No luck on the install. Such an awesome mod, but I think my version of vB is not compatible.

Once the install was complete, I went to http://www.distortedguild.com/gwowroster.php and I get a spam of:

if it didn't work, then some of the other changes I made, affect it as well.
What do yo mean the new website? If you are referring to the new battle.net armory, then there is nothing you can do about it, as it does not currently offer XML. Blizz is still "looking into it", so we have to continue to use the Old Armory for these types of applications.

For Cata, yes, I have it working on my site.

As for any updates to this, Blizzard has announced their new API, using REST instead of XML. This mod will cease to work after August 2, 2011 (se here for info - http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/topic/2872617604)

So looks like it might be easier for someone to re-write this to use the new API, instea dof trying to port it to vB v4.
