Hack Support

This hack is now discontinued - this means that while it will remain available for download and use, there will be no further updates, nor will support be provided as the thread is no longer monitored.

Please click Mark as Installed if you are using this hack.

vBulletin Version Compatibility

This hack can only be used with vBulletin v3.7.x.

What Does This Hack Do?

It is a update of my v3.6.x hack available here, with a couple of small changes.

This hack allows you to integrate the FlashChat Admin Panel into your vBulletin Admin Control Panel, so all administration is done in one place (you can even optionally remove FlashChat's own nav links - see the screenshots for comparison).

Now comes with Administrator Permissions, so you can limit which administrators you want to admin Flashchat via the AdminCP.

Note: Version 3.7.006 of this hack and above are for FlashChat 5.0.x onwards only, and will not work with FlashChat 4.7.x. Version 3.7.005 of this hack will continue to be available for Flashchat 4 (but I will not be coding any further releases for FlashChat 4 versions).

What hacks need installing before installing this hack?
These hacks need to be installed in this order and working correctly, for this hack to work.

FlashChat (http://www.tufat.com/s_flash_chat_chatroom.htm) v4.7.x or v5.x.x
Paul M's Flashchat: Integration for vB 3.7 v3.7.005 (Flashchat v4.7.x only) or v3.7.009 (Flashchat v5.x.x only)
Then install the correct version of this hack (see versions below)

Installation Instructions

Download either of the below files, depending on your installed FlashChat version:

ms_fc_admincp_fc5_v3.7.006.zip for Flashchat v5.x.x only
ms_fc_admincp_fc4_v3.7.005.zip for Flashchat v4.7.x only

The installation instructions are included in attached zip files.

Uninstall Instructions

Delete cpnav_flashchat.xml from your <forum root>/includes/xml directory.
Delete bitfield_fc_admincp.xml from your <forum root>/includes/xml directory.
If uploaded: Delete the top.tpl file from your <forum root>/chat-folder-name-here/templates/admin directory. Re-instate the original version of top.tpl.
Uninstall the product in vB using the AdminCP Product Manager.

You are right, I included the incorrect dependency. I have fixed and re-uploaded the zip.

This one should give you no problems. Thanks for pointing it out :)

Ok, that problem fixed. Next I set a password for a chat room. Enter the room it asks for the password. Just click enter, it says invalid. Click ok and it lets you enter.

Also in the ACP under messages, click on clear filter and none of the messages get cleared.

1. The password thing is a not a problem with the integration, this hack does not actually do anything with the actual Flashchat Admin Panel apart from display it in vBulletin's ACP. You will need to ask on the official Flashchat forums about this - http://forum.tufat.com/forumdisplay.php?f=5

2. It is a filter (ie if you want to show all the messages by Hostboard), it does not delete any of the messages, it just remove the filter that you have applied to the messages log.

I've tried to uninstall and reinstall and keep getting the same error: page not found

When I mouse over the links within the FlashChat admin Panel, I see it as:
http://www.website/forum/admincp/..{$vbulletin->options[flashchat_path]}/chat/admin/roomlist.php?

The above is the actual link. I've checked my VB options and cannot find a path problem. I'm thinking this is a simple path problem somewhere along the line.

Aside from the admin panel, everything else works splendid. The chat shows up and works and the links placed on either the navigation bar or the quicklinks leads directly to the chat. I have Vbadvanced installed but not yet implemented all the way.

Thank you in advance for any assistance with this.

Information:
- Vbulletin 3.7.0 Beta 5
- Vbseo 3.1.0
- VBadvanced 3.0.0 Gold - Not implemented

Yeah, and I pmed and haven't heard anything. If anyone else can offer any suggestions here, it would help out in the future when others run across the same issue.

I can access the admin in flashchat directly but it says something about integrated with cms. Currently the chat on my forum is off and excited to get it going. We're going to have scheduled chats. Forum URL: PhilosophyForum.com (http://www.philosophyforum.com). Recently re-done.

Sorry about that, been busy signing up to university, so have not had time to look at this. But looking at what you PM'ed me, I can see that you did not provide an admin user account and ftp access details, which is what I would have need to login and help you.

A url to the forum is not going to help me help you, as when you install this you have to be an admin, and to be honest I am not going to go through the registration process and still not be able to help you out as I need admin permissions.

But before that, I have one question, have you installed Paul M's Flashchat: Integration for vB 3.7? As the the link you posted when hovering your mouse point would indicate that you do not (or have and it is not installed properly):

http://www.website/forum/admincp/..{$vbulletin->options[flashchat_path]}/chat/admin/roomlist.php?

It is looking for an option that would have been added when you installed Paul M's hack, there is a list of hacks that need to be installed listed in the first post of this thread that have to be installed before this will work.

If all hacks needed are installed and working, and this hack still does not work and you want me to log in and sort it out for you then I require you PM me what I original asked for, which is, an admin user account (with appropriate permissions) and ftp access details, you can revoke these after I have helped you out.

Released v 3.2.0 - This will fix the problem that some people including tldagent and Hostboard are having.

Previous version, I did not realise was still dependent on an option in Paul M's Flashchat: Who is chatting hack, so when I removed the hack I got the same issue as both tldagent and Hostboard. So, now it should be totally fixed.

We got to the bottom of tldagent's issue, it seems that vBSEO was causing the issue. Once he disabled it and re-enabled it, it fixed his issue.

So, tldagent is now a happy chap :)

Yes, thank you. I believe however I've discovered a bit more. With VBSEO on, and both admins set up as Administrators, the first admin can see the actual flashchat admin and follow the links correctly. I was logged in as the second admin which has the same privileges as the first but cannot follow the links. It returns Page not found. The url also looks different in the mouse-over as well.

When logged in as first admin it looks like:
http://www.site.com/forum/chat/admin/msglist.php?

As second admin the url is:
http://www.site.com/forum/{$vbphrase[flashchat_path]}/admin/msglist.php?

So, honest I cannot explain the issue or how it works... or why both aren't seeing the same URLs. I just know that if logged on as #1 Administrator it works.

Thank you Mosh for your time and patience.

I will see if I can replicate that without vBSEO, so I am now off to create another admin.....

Will report back soon.

Btw, does it work for both admins if vBSEO is turned off?

Mosh
02-26-2008, 10:40 PM
I'm back, now for some silly reason the hack appears to only works if the admin is set to be Super Admin (ie added as super admin in config.php), and seems to have nothing to do with vBSEO.

In <forum root>/includes/config.php:
$config['SpecialUsers']['superadministrators'] = 'x,y';

tldagent, can you test this for me please? I need it checked somewhere else apart from my testbed.

Mosh
02-26-2008, 11:49 PM
Released v3.3.0 - I fixed the super admin bug, I introduced it when I released this hack and did not know it, until today.

So, people who have installed this, the name of their flashchat folder is chat and are having no problems need not upgrade to this version.

People who are having problems need to upgrade to this version.

I can not help you unless I look at your installation, as over 100 sites are using the same code without an issue and that should not cause a problem.

If you want me to take a look then feel free to PM me your site address, a temp admin user (with admin permissions - Can Administer Settings for editing options, Can Administer Language Settings for editing phrases and Can Administer Plugins for editing products and plugins), and ftp access details, without these I can not help you. I will look when I have time, and even if I have a look, I can not guarantee that I will be able to fix it, if your site is not in English (I only read/write in English), so it is up to you what you want to do. Hello: well, tonight I was reading your reply (thank you for do that!!) and my eyes was focused on the phrase: 'if your site is not in English (I only read/write in English)'.

On the php code you have:
"foreach ($navigation['19']['FlashChat Admin Panel']['options']['0'] AS $"

My forum isn't an english forum and I take care to translate every phrase, but the phrases of this product had a strange status (I didnĀ“t found them on Control Panel Global) and all of them were in spanish (they weren't traslated, the spanish text was on the default text).
So, I didn't have that "FlashChat Admin Panel" in my phrases.

The solution: I deleted the phrases manually (from phpMyAdmin) and installed the product.

Now it works fine. Again, thanks for your time!

Cool that it is working :)

If you need to translate to your phases, then you will need to alter these phrases under Control Panel Global:

flashchat_admincp
flashchat_bans
flashchat_bots
flashchat_connections
flashchat_ignores
flashchat_messages
flashchat_rooms

If you want to post a translated version here, then feel free to attach to a post in this thread and I will reference it in the 1st post :)

I now have a working version that uses Administrator Permissions, but there will need to be six edits of one of the files before it is uploaded (it can not be helped as adding permissions generated another issue with the rendering of the menu that I could not overcome).

I will be releasing the new version at the end of the week, as I have an assignment for University that needs to be handed in tomorrow, so am kind of busy atm.

Absolutely no idea, as this is the first time I have ever heard of this error message.

At the moment, this hack does not have admin permissions, so do not have a clue.

BTW, what Usergroup is usergroup id 33 assigned to? Admins, Super Mods, Mods, Members?

Did you follow Step 3, and change all 6 instances before uploading the files via your FTP client?

Edit the unzipped includes/xml/cpnav_flashchat.xml file.

Change every instance of <chat-folder-name-here> (there are 6 instances) to the name of the directory under the forum root directory that you installed Flashchat into.

So, if you installed Flashchat into <forum-root>/chat, then change <chat-folder-name-here> to chat, if you installed into <forum-root>/fc then it would change to fc.

Save the file.

Hey, I'm having a bit of a problem.

I have FlashChat 4.8.3 installed and I tried to install this. I got a slight error. There's no "FlashChat Admin" link in the AdminCP. Is this because of the FlashChat version?

Edit:

I also have vBulletin Blog installed. Might that AdminCP navbit be getting in the way?

Having vBulletin Blog installed will not interfere with the Flashchat AdminCP links appearing.

I am pretty sure you have not done step 3 properly, but if you have, then I do not have a clue as it is 100% functional, the only way to help now is to look at your installation.

So, if want me to take a look then feel free to PM me your site address, an temp admin user (with the appropriate permissions) and an ftp account, without these I cannot help you. I will look when I have time, and even if I have a look, I can not guarantee that I will be able to fix it, if your site is not in English (I only read/write in English), so it is up to you what you want to do. You can always remove the temp admin and ftp accounts after I have helped you out.

where have i gone wrong?I had the same issue and thought I'd completed step 3 correctly until I had another look.

I'd misunderstood the instructions (my fault) and edited each of the <link> sections in cpnav_flashchat.xml incorrectly.

My chat directory is called chat and I'd changed all my (6) links to:

<link>../<chat>/rest_of_URL</link>

Once I got a little smarter and removed the left and right brackets from each link:

<link>../chat/rest_of_URL</link>

all was well and my admin menu appeared. :o

Hello!

Having a bit of a problem here and hoping I can get some help please.

I has this installed and working perfectly. But we then went ahead and upgraded our hosting.

This plus Paul M's Flashchat: Integration for vB 3.7 v3.7.005 was installed, but disabled during the move.

I have just gone back in and enabled Paul M's Flashchat: Integration - all is well.

The I went to enable this mod and get this message:

The following products are required by FlashChat: Admin Panel Integration and must also be enabled:

1. Flashchat Integration

So I uninstalled both of them and re-installed them, but still get the same message.

If if I install anyhow I can access the flashchat admin panel, but get this error on any pages in there.

Fatal error: Smarty error: unable to write to $compile_dir '/home/XXXX/public_html/chat/templates/templates_c'. Be sure $compile_dir is writable by the web server user. in /home/XXXX/public_html/chat/inc/smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1088

Any ideas on whats going on and how I can fix it???

Delete the contents of the /chat/templates/templates_c directory, as it is Flashchat's cache directory. That should fix the following error:

Fatal error: Smarty error: unable to write to $compile_dir '/home/XXXX/public_html/chat/templates/templates_c'. Be sure $compile_dir is writable by the web server user. in /home/XXXX/public_html/chat/inc/smarty/Smarty.class.php on line 1088

Also check the permissions on the Flashchat directories are correct, easiest way to do that is to run the first part of the flashchat installation again, and Step 1: Your Server Environment will let you know if the correct prerequisites have been met (including directory permissions). You do not need to go past step one, it will just quickly tell you if you need to change permissions, if everything on the page says Yes, then everything is setup correctly.

so all administration is done in one place (you can even optionally remove FlashChat's own nav links - see the screenshots for comparison).

Not "ALL" administration is done via this mod .... at least not with the latest flashchat 5.x. It would be nice if you could do ALL settings etc from within the admincp, this mod doesnt seem to do that. It seems flashchat 5 is a lot different than 4.

I will look at v 5.x, once Paul M has updated his Flashchat Integration have to work with v5.x., but not until then, as my hacks tend to work in harmony with his.

Hi,

After updating to FlashChat Panel Integration (was running an older version) the panel has disappeared from the Admin screen and been replaced with a panel whose name appears as " ", when expanded, it has one item also named " "

Flashchat integration 3.7.005, board is 3.7.3

Tried deleting the hack, above does not disappear... ditto reinstalling it.

Anyone else seen this or able to offer any suggestions on what to try next?

Thanks

Did you do step 3? As it seems you have not. If you follow the instructions to the letter, then it will work.

If you are using Flashchat v 5.x, then this hack may not work, as it has not been tested with that flashchat version.

If you are actually trying to un-install, then delete cpnav_flashchat.xml and bitfield_fc_admincp.xml from your includes/xml/ directory, as well as un-installing the product.

Update: v3.7.006
-- FlashChat v5.x.x version (will not work with FlashChat v4.7.x)
-- Changed: cpnav_flashchat.xml
-- Changed: Instructions
-- Changed: top.tpl
-- Added: New phrase

Download either of the below files, depending on your installed FlashChat version:

ms_fc_admincp_fc5_v3.7.006.zip for Flashchat v5.x.x only
ms_fc_admincp_fc4_v3.7.005.zip for Flashchat v4.7.x only

Well you can now with the new version :) It has the new configuration section available in FlashChat v5 (NOT available in v4.7.x) integrated into the new version.

Unfortunately, that was never a stable version, at the moment the official versions are 4.7.12 or 5.0.6.

Version 4.8.3 was only ever a development version and never made the stable version, so neither of my hacks have ever been tested with that version, and I can not provide support for my hacks with that version.

So, I suggest you either downgrade to 4.7.12 or upgrade to 5.0.6, then make sure that Paul M's FlashChat integration is working before installing the appropriate version of this hack.

Well, I have just tested both versions of this hack on my testbed.

I downloaded the versions from this thread, unzipped them and then installed both versions exactly to my instructions and both work without a hitch, so I have just replicated what everyone who is interested in this hack would do.

Sorry, I am not able to generate your issue, as I do not have FlashChat v4.8.3 installed :(

So, if someone else posts that they are having exactly the same problem but are using FlashChat v4.7.12 or v5.0.6 then I can look into it.

It is all nice and good if you have a CMPS, but what if you don't? We would be a bit buggered with your hack, wouldn't we?

But, where the link to the FlashChat Admin Panel is not what this hack is all about. What it is about, is putting the FlashChat administration where it belongs, and that is in the AdminCP, along with all the other admin functions. A lot of people seem to agree with my sentiment, as it is installed on over 500 sites :)

Don't get me wrong, I am not insulting you at all, I have in fact pointed people to your supported hack in four of my flashchat hacks for vBadvanced, as I no longer use a CMPS, and am no longer supporting them, so yours is the best alternative.

WOOPS my bad!

I didn't really ask what I was trying to ask you in a clear manner. I am sorry. What I get for posting to late at night. What I really wanted to ask is... does your mod provide any new functions to the flashchat admin that is not already there? My flashchat admin has a number of functions disabled because flashchat is integrated with VB. So I was curious if this mod had other abilities?

I am sorry for not coming across in the right manner. I'm in the process of updating a site to the latest VB 4.7x and wanted to know more about this mods abilities.

You did not come over in a bad manner, I just wanted to point out the differences in our hacks, as in, that they are completely different things :)

There are no additional features in this hack over the stock FlashChat Admin Panel, all it does is integrate the FlashChat Admin Panel in the main AdminCP along with all your other AdminCP functions (where it belongs) :)

Sorry, that sounds like either FlashChat itself is not set up correctly or the integration is not set up correctly, and this hack requires both be working correctly before this is installed.

Once they are both set up correctly then this should work without any problems, until then I can not help you as I only support my hacks and not other peoples.

So, I would ask in Paul M's thread or the FlashChat support forums about your problems.

Once both are working correctly, if you are still having problems with this, then post back and I will try to help then.

This tool is designed to give FlashChat administrators multiple ways to view the chat logs, reset the chat logs, and add/edit/remove rooms.
and then doesn't allow you to anything...

What hacks need installing before installing this hack?
These hacks need to be installed in this order and working correctly, for this hack to work.

FlashChat (http://www.tufat.com/s_flash_chat_chatroom.htm) v4.7.x or v5.x.x
Paul M's Flashchat: Integration for vB 3.7 v3.7.005 (Flashchat v4.7.x only) or v3.7.006 (Flashchat v5.x.x only)

I am assuming the hacks above are not installed correctly or working 100%, as you would not be posting Paul M's threads asking for support for his hacks.

Once they are working correctly then this one should also work correctly, as this hack depends on those hacks working 100% correctly.

If you are still having problems with my hack when two hacks this depends on are working correctly, then post back here. Until then there is nothing I can do to help.

Step 6 says

In Usergroups > Administrator Permissions.

Select an administrator and click "Edit Permissions".

Change the radio button to "Can Administer Flashchat" to "Yes" or "No" as required, and then click "Save".

Do the same for each administrator.

I did this but when I select yes and save, it doesn't stay on yes. It goes back to no. Hence I cannot get the chat admin to appear in the panel.

I don't know how to solve this. I am the main admin

This should not be happening, as over 300 installations of this have never come across this problem.

To help you further I will need to take a look at your installation.

So, if want me to take a look then feel free to PM me your site address, an temporary Super Administrator user account (it has to be that, so that I can check on Administrator Permissions, I can also sort out the other permissions I need from there) and an ftp account, without these I cannot help you.
