I don't know how an RSS postbot would work...
There was an AI postbot on here a while back, but it was a bit buggy and I can't find it.

is that what he's known by now? lol :D
That guy never responded to one of my emails, posts, or PMs that I can remember.
So... what's my next option for a forum bot?

i'm also looking to see if a post bot mod is currently available. from the searching i have done i cant find anything other than the one previously mentioned, which never worked for me when i last tried it a few years ago anyway
so is there anything out there right now or no?

Are you sure you aren't just asking about setting up the RSS feeds to post in a forum? That is all done in the Admin Panel with the RSS Feed Manager.

Are they talking about a bot that can be set to reply to selected questions ?

Seems like it ..
I seem to remember seeing one , but that was in 2004.

And where would the RSS feeds come from? I don't think that's what I want. I want an actual living robot that I have to oil and charge the batteries, that I can play chess with, and will take out the trash. If I can't have that, then I want an electronic version of one that will post in my forum.

basically yes. i remember a VB forum i was on around 2004-2005 had one working. based on the response here im guessing it was only for a very outdated version of vbulletin

or perhaps selected keywords/blocks of keywords would be cool.
Like, if someone mentions "didgeroo", the postbot replies with "bodgerbag".

We have a 'bot' on our site that is cute and cuddly, however there is a real person behind him. I had never heard of a postbot before, but they do sound like fun.

I use the EWT A.L.I.C.E TalkerBot on my vBulletin 3.6.8. I have had no errors with him, or any bugs as of yet, and my members absolutely love him. I still have the files on my PC, but I believe I am not allowed to redistribute them.
What the bot does, is you specify a user and a forum, and then the bot replies to every post made in that forum. The more you speak with him, the smarter he gets. He can learn things about you, and answer any brainy questions you have, or you can just talk to him in general.
I downloaded the bot off of the Author's website, but I have no discovered his website has gone, and I haven't found another source for the bot yet. And in regards to a few nasty comments before, the author of the mod replied to all of my support PMs I sent to him, and was most helpful :)

thanks for the info. yea thats the one i was looking for, looks like there isnt much demand for that sorta thing these days. from a few searches it looks like there was some sort of drama between the person who wrote it and the powers that be at vB and thats where development stopped, who knows. anyway its been a while since ive searched for anything like that, im surprised noone else has filled the gap.

I had an AIML bot on my phpBB board and would love to have it ported over to vB. Is it against the rules for someone to send me it? I've only recently installed vB so have no idea what may have happened with the original developer.
