"Just join us" in Forumhome
by vbFrerlancers

1.- What it does

In a nice and configurable interface, shows last x members who join your community in forum home.

2.- Options

I believe that I added lots of configurable options. These are:
Show/Hide the blocks
How many members to show in the block
What interface to use for the block (Table or Fieldset)
If it's table to use border or not
Show header for the block or not
Text to use for header
Show online/offline status (Yes/No)
Show last activity (Yes/No)
Text for Last Activity (eg Last seen)3.- Installation

Installation is pretty easy:
Check at your AdminCP->vBulletin Options->Plugin/Hook System that Plugin system is enabled.
From your AdminCP->Plugin System->Manage Products choose Add/Import Product and import the product: product_justjoin.xml
Set the various options at: vBulletin Options->Just JoinThat's all. Hope to enjoy it:)

I think the right title for this mod would be... "Last x members to register..."
Or something like that.

Very nice. It should use the new no avatar image in 3.7 though. I might use this.

Would look a lot nicer below the navbar in my opinion :)

It would be better if the phrase was spelled properly.

"Just Join our Community" should be "Just Joined our Community"

I personally would change the phrase to "Recently Joined our Community", it just sounds better. Not installing, but the mod isn't bad. Just needs a little extra time spent on the phrase.

It would also be nice if the admin could set a time frame for new members to be shown i.e. Last 7 days Last 30 days etc...

You can change that in the AdminCP :)

You can make it what ever you want :)

Well, I believe that the best choice was my 1st release even if it had template changes. You had the choice to add it anywhere in your forumhome. Now by using the hook system, i can place it only at top or bottom. And the strange is, that even we've put other of our mods at the top, that one was impossible to be place there. It didn't worked. Only at the end was working.

Can you make this randomly displaying members?

Can you make this randomly displaying members?

Do you want to use it to display random members? Because if you want to display random new members, you must also add in the query a start day.

Thank you BUNCHES for this mod!!!

Nice little hack, will look ok with a default avatar in place for new members.

I agree...

Can you please add the default avatar so new members without an avatar will be showing the default one. As it is now, I have 4 new members with no avatars and 1 with an avatar....and it looks very bad and uneven.

Nevermind...I had to copy/rename unknown.gif to noavatar.gif for it to show the no avatar image. Sorry...

Great mod!!!

I have installed this product, and everthing appears to be working except that the avatars are not showing. All I get is a box with a red X in it. The noavatar.gif file IS in my avatars directory and being used by the Default Avatar plugin. Why is in not showing in this box?

Put it in here:
/images/misc/noavatar.gif

If that doesn't work, right click the red x and click properties and see where it's trying to call the image from...then place that image in there.;)

hmmm...I just logged into our forum, and the vB Statistics table at the bottom shows "our newest member" but that member is NOT in the "Just Joined - Welcome" table. Any idea why?

http://www.bazooka.com/forums/index.php

The hack appeared to be working fine and several new members that joined over the weekend have appeared in the JJ table, but this one has not yet. Is there some sort of delay where they don't appear in the JJ table until the next person joins since they are already showcased in the vB statistics table? Please advise.
Thanks,
KF

The new member didn't activate his or her email adress yet .

hello this is really nice... im having a problem.

It displays without error when logged in, but when guest views forumhome it gives an error and break style. The error I get is:

Warning: array_merge() [function.array-merge]: Argument #2 is not an array in /index.php(540) : eval()'d code on line 33

Anyone help me please?

Not for me :( I disabled all products, reinstalled this mod, tried viewing as guest on forumhome using default theme, still errors with my beta4. Wonder what I did wrong? I think it must be conflicting with another mod but like I said I disabled all other products.

Wow this is a nice idea. Kind of wonder why no one has thought of it before. Well done ;)

Is there any way to have it sit under (or replace) the statistic table in What's Going On? This hack is a nice idea but not sitting in its own table underneath the entire forum as it currently does. Thanks.

Works well on vb 3.7 Beta 4. Many thanks for this.
Since most new members do not yet have avatars, I think it is better not to show avatars. Could you add this option?
When you show more members, then it will stretch the width of the page, instead of showing a second or third row of members. Please consider to change this.

Ah im thinking my problem with using this is that we use PHP5, im not sure though. (Ive been reading This thread (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=125302) )

Does anyone know where I need to add 'array' to make this mod work perfect with PHP5?

NeuroLancer
02-09-2008, 05:43 AM
Ok! Ive got it working. It is defiantly a problem with PHP5.

I removed

$vbphrase = array_merge((array)$vbphrase, $tmp);

from the plugin "Show Just Join forum home page" and now it shows without error for guest user.

What version of php5 are you running? AFAIK it works well for php 5.2.5
But I would really like more info on this, as I did see a slight slowdown on my ultrafast server.

I really like this mod. I would like to have a vba module for this, so that I can show this on my home page.

I was looking for the solution simmilar to this, but it will>

1. display random user block (set-up number of users)
1.a (not necessarily but) show those that have been last online
2. display only avatars (well maybe names if you want to) ! it is a must since I use avatars for users pictures and block will consist only from users avatars/pictures and without it it will show nothing....

Is there a chance that you can customize this into this VBuserLog Box?

Thank you!!!

I wanted to achieve simmilar block as a BlogLog has, but only for my members

It would be nice for random users, as most newly joined users don't immediately upload their avatar or much information. Just my thoughts, thanks, rg.

you need to remove the following from the xml file and install it again:

$vbphrase = array_merge($vbphrase, $tmp);
