That number if for the most users ever online on your site, that happened today and it will NOT change until there are more than 176 users logged in at once on any given day.

ie... if 180 members login tomorrow, the new record will state that, it will never decrease.

So you are saying it always says "Today"? It will never say "Most users ever online was 176, Yesterday at 07:21 PM." or "Most users ever online was 176, 01-18-08 at 07:21 PM", but always "Most users ever online was 176, Today at 07:21 PM"?

As already stated the number will never increase until you have 177 visitors online at the same time

I have a question about this topic. Here's my line: Most users ever online was 427, 05-17-2005 at 03:38 AM.

I'm having a hard time understanding how I ever approached that number of users, especially at that hour of day. The date was about 2 1/2 years after we started the Board, and we were lucky to see 50 users on line including search spiders. Today we typically see about 175 users on including spiders, but after 2:00am eastern, that number dwindles to about 35. I'm just curious how the peak I show could have happened and especially at that hour of day.

All the bots could have hit you at once, and combined with multiple instances of the same bot (treats each one as a guest) it can really inflate the count sometimes :)

I understand that it always says 176, but does it always say the word "Today", cuz those are two different things. If it always says 176, then that is fine because that number will never change unless one day you have more than 176, like 187, then everyday it will say 187 until you have more than 187. That number says the MOST users... EVER. Not the most users that day, but the most users ever on your site. If it always says the word TODAY, then that is a strange thing and I'm not sure what to do to fix it except maybe reset the most users online and see if that fixes it.
