Hello -
How, or where do I post a question about employing a 'skin guy' to revamp our Board/Forum?
Thanks,
Two Gringos

If you're looking to hire someone, you can post a request in the Paid Services forum: https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/forumdisplay.php?f=30

Hi Kirk -
I did just that, and got only two responses (pms) from two guys in Australia. We have nothing against anyone outside the US, but we prefer working with someone working/living in the US, and we don't want a teenager working out of a dumpster in Tokyo either. We want references, reliable and trustworthy people ....adults who take their profession seriously.
Why is it people don't want to work anymore? We are 10 years online with a great reputation. We pay in full when the job is done. These days, Webmasters/Geeks/Tech Guys, they work when they want too, or when they feel like it. Now wonder the work ethic in our country (USA) has gone to down the toilet.
Fyi- two guys we hired last year (advertising here) did a good job for us. We paid on time and their price. Now, both guys don't want to work anymore.
Kirk, thanks for having this Board--a big help to us!

You are assuming because you can't find anyone that no one is working?
I think quite the opposite - the people you are interested in (experienced, serious, and creative coders) are already up to their heads in the market in work.
You have to fight for these coders. :)
Perhaps you should take a look at other sources: rentacoder, sitepoint, etc... if you have had any replies that are suitable here. I have no experience on the above, so I can't really comment on them.

Also -- as a designer and coder myself...
i would refuse your kind of job because you require to have communications by phone... sorry but i would never accept a client to call me if the only thing they need is something related to the web... and i'm not the only one in that situation. most of the designers you will find here are freelancers or people working on design companies already, and they have their load of contacts ... adding one guy who is stressed out and call 10 times per day is harassing and enough to break a contract. and most freelancers work at home... with all the things surrounding an adult life -- like kids and newborn.. lol do you think i would like to discuss a contract with you if i have my newborn in hands?
i would accept such a job you require to be done, but you give no detail, you just talk about yourself... for me is not a proof that such a "adult" way of working would give me the profits i deserve for my talent... paying full when the job is done is not a representation of the value you give to that job... a complete style for your site... 50$ ???... this is the kind of details we want to know:
1- Project Description
2- Budget
3- ETA / date of distribution
... if your site have to be online in 10 days, you have to give and ETA of 8 so you have 2 days to fix your result if needed... if the ETA is tightier, you will have problems facing it and you will complaint that the coder is not doing the job properly.. but at the end it is your fault.
as an example, i work only by my reputation lately, because i have a newborn... no real time for tight contracts and no time to discuss 20 days when someone is unsure of his needs -- most of the clients here will know what they want, but if your description of task is not precise, like yours actually, i will refuse to do it because you are just talking about your own side of the project, you do not talk about eta, the task, no salary either... why would i be interested then...
and btw, you may have an old site, be experienced on the web etc, but that's not what we see in your request... so, use your experience to write a precise and serious service request, and you will have the answers accordingly...
it is not against you... but as you said yourself, you do not want newbies or kids to answer... you want serious adult coders to work with you... most of the requests we see here are from kids or teens at least, who are buying their first site and have like 50$ as a budget for their entire site design... they can't afford more, but they announce it anyway. same as you... you may have a budget of 5000$ in hand, but you do not show it. i am not telling you that the cash is driving this forum, i'm telling you that your ads is among kids ads...
i answered more than 150 paid requests in the last 2 years... some of them i have done for free, just to help people in their learning... some of them were minimal budgets for big projects, but they were challenging and i liked them... some others were promissing in profits, but i never received a penny because the client was a moron... there is a lot of things to consider when you announce yourself here, or on sitepoint, or others... even on sitepoint, you will have fraudulous coders that will accept your contract but will give you buggy codes... some clients from sitepoint come back here to ask for support on these buggy codes...
it's a strange world... you never know!
