You can directly go to the latest version (use full download, not patch!).

that's scary. I am also looking to upgrade from 3.6.4 to 3.6.8; I am little scared at this point, because I installed lot of hacks in the code. Now, not sure how to move all those hacks to new version.

it's not so bad.
after upgrade you have to pay some attention to templates to update them
the advantage is that vb shows you the diffs from old template and the new template so you can easy update this.

good luck.
and remember to backup ;)!

If you do a successful backup of skin/database/vb files etc. It should cut the worries

Have you reverted the templates or can manually upgrade the templates.

I upgrade them manually ...
but there is something wierd
there are two options: 1. Yes, Click Not Required and 2. Yes, Click Required

if using the first one, the quick reply box is small.
if using the second one, the box looks normal until I click on a button and became small again.

This might help -- http://www.vbulletin.com/forum/showthread.php?t=248256

BTW, I did a test upgrade to my another site. It worked ok, that's a big relief. I will do the real upgrade in my main site this weekend.
