Hey guys n gals quick question I have a board running an old version 3.5.4 it was never upgraded for fear of my custom templates/style being ruined and i have no idea where the original designer is now, also for fear that many of my hacks won't work.

Do you have any idea what version i could safely go to where my style and hacks should absolutely still work.

3.5.5?

3.5.8?

or even higher? Please let me know thank you

Many mods will still work on version 3.6, as I know from experience (good example of this is Ishop and cash). Heck, some of these mods will still work on vBulletin 3.7. But my best guess is this after the latest 3.5 version, then there MAY be some problems with various modifications. And anything that involves modding PHP code will need to re added in a later version.

I have no idea about the style though.

Well none of us know what mods you have installed.
Templates/skin shouldn't be a problem...

You can always read the release notes over at vb.com. They detail the changes as far as which pages and templates are affected in each upgrade.

What you can also do is read the threads for each of your hacks. Usually there is someone who comes along and says "does this one work in 3.6.8 PL2?"

And then there is what I do (and others) and that is to set up a test board and upgrade that to the latest release and see if everything works correctly and then upgrade the live site.
