Pulling VB variables into Wordpress

I'm trying to figure out how to pull info such as recent and popular forum threads per forum plus recent and popular blog posts (vBlog) into an external php page (wordpress homepage below the forum folder-in the root) as links.

I've tried the rss method but I dont know whow to do it for more than one forum in the code you place at the beginning of the page.

I don't know how wordpress works, but you could try just directly querying the database and then fetch the posts like that.

I'm not sure how to do that either. But I promise you'd have my attention 100% if anyone felt like explaining it :)
