i have a forum that has at most 20 people on at once, yet i have been getting error messages from hostican.com saying my page has been temp suspended due to using more than my 25% for 60 seconds.

i disabled MOODS and SHOUTBOX yet i still am getting this

anyone know what i can do to my forum to reduce my CPU/Memory usage so i dont have to upgrade to a $100/month hosting plan instead? thank you in advance

I run a vbulletin forum on a hostican shared server, and I'm experiencing a similar problem all of a sudden. They became very strict with memory limits in January, and plenty of people who weren't previously getting problems are now getting them.

I disabled most of my mods as well, but the problem persists.

I honestly think a change in hosting plan is the only way to go. Other than upgrading at hostican, I've heard good things about a VPS on knownhost, wiredtree, and rapidvps, but I'm still doing research. Best of luck to you.

i did move hosts, i reccommend NO ONE use hostican. at all. they are just horrible

if anyone is looking for another host, i signed up with cartikahosting.com and they have been excellent!

We have a hostican vps server with 150-200 users online and we have problem with resources, memory 256M - 1G burstable.

I´m optimizing code of my.cnf and httpd.conf right now.
wish me lucky :P

A common problem we see is users having resource problems and then they move to a VPS even though they don't know how to run a VPS.

There's no need for a VPS, just go with some quality shared hosting and save yourself alot of headaches. It's probably cheaper than a good VPS and probably will perform better.
