Hello All

Is there any torrent tracker software or mod available to use with vb 3.6.8. I am not having much idea about how the torrent sites work, but I would like to implement torrents in my forum so that users can share huge datas w/o uploading to any servers.

Is the Torrent Software free / paid and where could I get it.
Does VB license allows to use torrents with their product and is it compatible
Any links of websites where I can get more information on what is torrent and how they need to be installed withing vb forumsHope I will get an answer to this.

Thanks

Try a Google-Search with VBTT or VBulletin Torrent Tracker ;)

Do a search in this forum and you will come up with other threads on trackers. I think there are two released vb integrated trackers. One of them is VBTT, the other is by Olaf (I can't remember the name of it). I believe neither of them are free. There may be a version of VBTT that is free - I know the version for vB3.0 was free.

vB doesn't care if you run a tracker on your site, however your host may. Be sure to check with them. I have seen a couple of sites suddenly shut down because their host was told there was a tracker on the site and they didn't allow it.

I have a tracker running on my site, however I started out with the free version of VBTT on vB3.0 2.5 years ago and have since changed the backend tracker to Torrential and have done all my own upgrading of the code so I'm not running any of the available vB integrated scripts that are available.

Bittorrent is just a technology used for transferring files, whether or not you can get in trouble for using it depends entirely on what you use it for. Open source, public domain or material you own copywrite on, no problem.

The latest Hollywood blockbuster will likely find you in some legal trouble though.
