Integration with vBulletin - Photobucket Image Uploader [Archive]

This Modification works in both vB 3.6.x and vB 3.7.x

Introduction:
Well this is my first official "hack" for vBulletin :p :up:, so cheers to me! Anyways, I want to apologize in advanced if for some reason this post or the instructions are not clear enough - I am trying my best to explain as elaborate as possible. With this being my first modification, I have dedicated a lot of time and effort into it and I can say that I am 99.9% sure that there are no bugs with this hack, as I have tested it numerous times - but we all know how that goes ... With that said, if you do find a bug or something, just let me know and I'll look into it. Also, I want to thank Mosh (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/member.php?u=62814) for letting me use his ImageHack as a Framework for mine, thanks bro!

NOTE: This hack works in total harmony with the latest version of Mosh's ImageShack Image Upload hack.

PHOTOBUCKET IMAGE UPLOADER
... BROUGHT TO YOU BY: DANNY ...

Description:
This hack will allow you to have access to your Photobucket Account from inside vBulletin, so that you can post up your pictures or videos without the need of opening a new window. It will allow you to display this Hack in the New Thread, New Post/Reply, Quick Reply, and Quick Edit Windows. This hack also provides the user with multiple options/settings to make this Add-on blend in with the site's color scheme. It has many benefits and options, so for more info just take a look at the Screenshots provided or download and install the Add-on to see and explore its settings.

Installation Instructions:
1) Download the attached .XML Product.
2) Import the .XML Product via Admin CP > Plugins & Products > Manage Products > [Add/Import Product]
3) Edit the Settings accordingly and Enable Hack where desired. Go to Admin CP > vBulletin Options > vBulletin Options > Photobucket Image Uploader to manage the settings. Remember to also enter the Usergroup IDs of those who you wish to be able to use the Hack or this Mod will not work!
4) Your Done! Its that easy ...

Upgrade Instructions:
1) Download the attached .XML Product.
2) Import the .XML Product via Admin CP > Plugins & Products > Manage Products > [Add/Import Product] and Select the "Overwrite" option ...
3) Your Done! Its that easy ...

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Guys/Gals,

I want to make a note for those who said they were having trouble with this Hack, please make sure that you enter all the Usergroup IDs of the Usergroups who you want to be able to use this Hack in the "Allowed Usergroups" Settings Section.

I have a feeling that most of you left "0" in there. What the "0" does is "not force any usergroups". What that means is that no usergroup will be able to use the Hack, basically if you enter "0" there, then you are disabling the Hack completely.

I think that this is the solution to most (if not all) the problems for those who were claiming that this hack wasnt working. Please enter the Usergroup IDs and report back if it works for you or not.

PS. Some of you might be wondering how I figured this out, well one of the members on here who installed this Hack and was having problems, sent me a PM with Admin Login Info into their site and upon checking out the settings, this was the problem. They forgot to enter the Usergroup IDs in the specified Setting. I entered "6" for the Usergroup ID to test if Administrators could view the Hack and voila, it worked!

w1z4rd, I will have to look into it to see if I can get the option of it only displaying in certain forums to work, I should be able to ... As far as the User enable/disable in User CP, I think that would require some Database calling or something - I'm still earning how to code (I'm no expert) and that would be a bit too hard for me at the moment, maybe in the future.

shadyninja, should work with vB 3.6.7, test it out and see. Its only one Product to Import, so its not much of a hassle to uninstall if it doest work ... It should work though!

UncoderMom, thanks! That's the same reason why I came up with it. I do not use Attachments in my forums, so I make my members use a 3rd Party Site to host their images/videos - most use Photobucket, so I decided to do something about it.

Do you think you can make another hack that supports/allows adult pictures ? Like hentai that is?
If it isn't too much work for you :3 Other than imageshake, that yellow frogy that appears from time to time is creepy :rolleyes: May be imagevenue.com ?

AndyA, this Hack allows you to upload images directly to your Photobucket Account. You can only upload one at a time. After you finished uploading one, you can then upload another one.

shadyninja, by default the hack is disabled, so you must go in and enable it where ever you want to use it. You can also change the settings of the color an d the display text to make it fit your site's color scheme. If you have any questions, just ask. Let me know if it works on vB 3.6.7 :up: once it has been enbled, etc.

^ Cool :up: ... To be honest I do not know why its not working with vB 3.6.7 - I thought it would. The only thing that I can think of is that you edited the templates and accidentally removed the necessary code. Do this:

Search your editpost, newreply, and newthread templates for $attachmentoption ... If its not there, then that's the reason why this hack isnt working for you. If its there then its something else, but I am almost positive that it has to be this. Let me know how it turns out ... If you want me to take a look at it for you PM me login info to your Admin CP and I can try and get this to work for you with vB 3.6.7 ...

Do this:

However I do have a question. My large images are distorted as they display in the viewer area, all those that are like 120x120 display great, is there a work around for this for the large images to be displayed in correct proportion? If not, I still like this mod and will continue to use it.:)

I knew it had to work on 3.6.7, the code didnt change. It should work on all vB 3.6.X ... Might even work on 3.5.X (dont know). For those that have 3.6.7 and its not working, it must be due to your Modified Styles or something.

SSG.D, unfortunately that option is managed server-side with this Hack, meaning that its something that only Photobucket can manage. Photobucket makes the images into thumbnails using a declared width/height attribute to keep everything nice and neat. If they were to make it so that images appear proportional then it wouldnt look as neat/symmetrical as they wanted to make it look. Hope that explains it a bit more, but to answer your question: No, that is something that cannot be changed. Sorry.

^ No problem glad you like it :up: ... I'm glad I shared this, I had originally made this for my site only and didnt plan on releasing it. Then, I got bored and decided to make the options/settings editable via the AdminCP, so I thought "Maybe I should release this, some other people might use it" ... so I did, lol. I guess I was right, so far in 2 days 25 people have installed :D

Very nice! I know I've had the imageshack mod on JPiC for quite some time - but it's not nearly as nice as your mod --- I like that the options are available to be set in the AdminCP - makes it more of a "professional" modification so to speak - Anyway - it works wonderfully and I appreciate the share ;)

Installed on 3.6.8 pl2 and seems to be working except when I click a picture and hit submit on my site, it does not show the picture. Am I missing a step to get the picture to display? Seems like I missed a little step here.

Greek76, correct. I have had several people say that this hack works on their vB 3.6.7, and it should. However, I've had other who say that it doest work. It must be due to their Modified Styles or other Hacks installed on their sites.

SVTCobraLTD, after clicking the desired picture, there is a section below that says "IMG Code" there it will show you the code for you to Copy & Paste onto your Forum's Text Editor Box. All you have to do is select the picture, then click on the code (automatically copies it to clipboard) and then paste it onto the text box ... It's that easy! Hope that answers your question ...

This hack has an error in IE 7, vBB 3.68:

When turn WYSIWYG off, I can't select the text in message area BY MOUSE. Still can select text with KEYBOARD.

No Problem found yet with Firefox...

* another problem: when click 'Show photobucket', browser automatically refresh and scroll up to the top of page. I hope it should stay in photobucket area instead

No do not remove the $attachmentoption bit from the templates as that will disable this Hack as well. Do what SVTCobraLTD suggested:
AdminCP > Attachments > Attachment Permissions

Are you planning on upgrading this hack to work on 3.7?
Have you tested it to see if it works on vB3.7? It might work without any modification, I do not know yet because I do not have vB 3.7 installed on my forums yet, so I cannot test it ... Once vB 3.6.7 is out of beta stage I will install on my forums to check and see.

kiennt718, just checked again on IE7 and its working perfectly. Like I told you before, this Hack has nothing to do with the Message Box, it does not touch its code at all. Please check your other plugins/hacks because this Hack is not the cause to your problem.

When I have the "Quick Reply" option enabled, it puts the mod in twice. If I disable it, it doesnt display at all. It mentions a manual edit on the options, but doesnt say how to make that manual edit. I am not familiar enough with template changes to do this on my own. Any suggestions?

OK, if I take out the image shack image uploader it only displays the photobucket one once and only for quick reply...... grrr

Okay I had some free time today and I looked into it, luckily I figured it out. The reason it displays two of them is because the Photobucket Hack's "Auto-Template Search Text" for the Quick Reply option is </fieldset> and the ImageShack Hack uses the same "Auto-Template Search Text" for its Quick Reply option.

When you enable both, it will display twice because the ImageShack Hack is also within a fieldset. So, when the Photobucket Hack searches for </fieldset> in the Showthread Template to insert the Code, it finds the original one (the one its suppose to find) and also the ImageShack Hack's </fieldset>, so it adds it to there as well ...

A simple and quick solution to the problem will be to change the "Auto-Template Search Text" for the Quick Reply option to something else (either for the ImageShack Hack or the Photobucket Hack). Just remember to ONLY change the "Auto-Template Search Text" for the Quick Reply option and not all of them, the Quick Reply "Auto-Template Search Text" option can be found in the Photobucket Image Upload (4) Plugin or in the Imageshack Image Upload (4) Plugin. ONLY do it to one of the Hacks not both.

Would it ever be possible to add Google PiCasa uploader as well?

That would require a new different Hack and would have nothing to do with this one. I'm too busy at the moment to create another Hack and to be honest I dont know if its even possible for Google PiCasa Uploader (it might be though). If I have some free time then I will look into it, but like I said I'm really busy at the moment.

I have found an error with this.

When this was installed on my forum, everything worked but you couldn't post message through Quick Reply (which you could before I got this). I got an error message through Quick Reply. Now I have uninstalled it and got rid of all template edits, the error is still there from this mod. How do I get rid of it? Thanks.

I've installed this and enabled it in settings but its not showing up anywhere. Not for admin or normal users.

I had the imgbolt uploader installed and working fine but i've uninstalled that now to see if it was causing a problem with this.

Any suggestions?

TCE Killa, it was not this Hack I can guarantee that. This hack doesnt even touch the Quick Reply at all, the only thing it does (if enabled) is search for a particular text in the Showthread Template and add the appropriate code after it - when this Hack is installed/uninstalled it doesnt do anything to the Quick Reply.

In addition, this is a simple Product Installation/Uninstallation - there are no other template edits to do or undo. If I were you I would disable the Plugins in your Forum via config.php and check if you still get the error. That will let you know if its another installed hack or if your Templates are messed up or something.

Nope, I used to use the Imageshack upload on the posts but there was a Quick Reply problem with that, I had to manually do the template edits for that and this and I put them in the right place. With the Imageshack one, whenever someone posted a Quick Reply, it came up with an error so I added the Imageshack template to the Quick Reply template, everything was fine just said it had errors on page plus no one could click any options above the Quick Reply so I uninstalled and got rid of all the templates for Imageshack... After I uninstalled Imageshack, Quick Reply worked fine on everything. Then I installed this and I to had manually put the template edits in just like Imageshack and this did the exact same Quick Reply error. Now I have uninstalled the product and took out all template edits, the Quick Reply problem is still there. So it must be to do with this somehow. I'm just trying to find where this problem is, but it is definetely with this because Imageshack did it as well and it was working fine before.

Chet T16, if you give me temporary administrator access to your Forum's Admin Control Panel I can take a look at the settings you have for this Hack and see what's happening or what's causing that problem. Please make sure that you added all the Usergroups you want this to show to in the correct field under the Photobucket's Hack settings.

TCE Killa, what manual edits did you make? In the installation instructions at no point did it say to do any edits to anything and neither does the Imageshack Hack. What template or templates did you edit?

Well I had to add the Imageshack and Photobucket template which automatically comes in with the product, I had to insert them under $attachmentoptions in Edit, Newreply, Newthread and I had to add it below </fieldset> in Showthread to get it all to work. If I hadn't done that, nothing was showing on either of them. Do you want a screenshot of the Quick Reply error I am getting? Thanks for helping man.

TCE Killa, yeah please provide screenshots. What I would do if I were you is Revert the Edit, New Reply, New Thread, and Showthread Templates and see if the error disappears (it should). I still dont understand why you had to manually add those things, the product didnt work for you? If you want me to take a look at it, provide me with temporary administrator access to your Forum's Admin Control Panel and I can take a look at it.

I have attached a screenshot of the error I am getting < this was the error with Imageshack but is the exact same error for this mod aswell. When I last reverted a template, it got rid of the whole template, I had to ask someone what was in there template to copy and paste it back, so I'm not risking that anymore.

But if you would like, I'll give you a temp username and password for my forum, see if you can take a look and see what needs to be done.

GrAveTzT, did you turn the Hack "On" via the Settings (First Option)? By default it is Off.

After you have it enabled, you should see this when Posting a Reply, Making a Thread, etc (depending on where you enabled it):

Guys/Gals,

I want to make a note for those who said they were having trouble with this Hack, please make sure that you enter all the Usergroup IDs of the Usergroups who you want to be able to use this Hack in the "Allowed Usergroups" Settings Section.

I have a feeling that most of you left "0" in there. What the "0" does is "not force any usergroups". What that means is that no usergroup will be able to use the Hack, basically if you enter "0" there, then you are disabling the Hack completely.

I think that this is the solution to most (if not all) the problems for those who were claiming that this hack wasnt working. Please enter the Usergroup IDs and report back if it works for you or not.

PS. Some of you might be wondering how I figured this out, well one of the members on here who installed this Hack and was having problems, sent me a PM with Admin Login Info into their site and upon checking out the settings, this was the problem. They forgot to enter the Usergroup IDs in the specified Setting. I entered "6" for the USergroup ID to test if Administrators could view the Hack and voila, it worked!

If you want to test the Hack, then enter "6" in the "Allowed Usergroups" Setting as that's the Usergroup ID for Administrators and then check if it works. If it does, then you can go ahead and enter the rest of the Usergroup IDs who you want to make the Hack visible to. To get the Usergroup IDs go to Admin CP > Usergroups > Usergroup Manager > And you will see the Usergroup IDs under the "Controls" Column (they are in the Drop Down Menu).

Also if you want to use href= in the links to get the link effects then you can use href="javascript:{}" instead of href="#". The latter is what causes it to jump to the top of the page when you click it. This way eliminates that problem. Technically you can add a js function to the href as well, such as href="javascript:{view();}". Though it is even better to just forget the whole href bit and just use css and use the onclick on the text container.

ArnyVee, you should actually be able to just Import the New .XML Product with the "Overwrite" option and be done with it. If you encounter a problem, then let me know. I just did the Overwrite and it worked.
Upgrade Instructions:
1) Download the attached .XML Product.
2) Import the .XML Product via Admin CP > Plugins & Products > Manage Products > [Add/Import Product] and Select the "Overwrite" option ...
3) Your Done! Its that easy ...

I only upgrade if I see features that I think will be useful to a site. Take vB 3.7 for example. It doesn't really have any new features I need for any of my sites. I could probably try the SN features on one of my gaming sites but it would probably bomb. It's a lot of work doing major updates on a custom styled site.

TRa5H, I got your PM with the Login Details, but it says "This website is temporarily unavailable, please try again later" when I try to go to your site. However, I'm sure that the problem you are having is because in the "Allowed Usergroups" Settings Section you entered the Usergroup Names (R?? Member, R?? Leader, Super Moderators, Registered Users, Moderators, Administrators, etc) ... You're not suppose to do that, you're suppose to enter the Usergroup IDs.

To get the Usergroup IDs go to Admin CP > Usergroups > Usergroup Manager > And you will see the Usergroup IDs under the "Controls" Column (they are in the Drop Down Menu). Hope that helps, please report back if that fixed your issue or let me know when your site is Online again and I'll take a look at it.

UPDATE regarding below question: sorry, I realize now what I was doing wrong. I needed to select a picture first. But I'll leave the rest of this here in case anyone else doesn't figure that out. (I'm not the only blonde here, am I?)

fxlr8, unfortunately I have not upgraded to 3.7, so I cant help you out. I am still running 3.6.10 and plan to do so for a good while because there are a lot of changes in 3.7 that I do not have the time to sit down and undertake to make everything work the same as before. However, if the Auto Copying is not working you can always just copy it Manually by hitting Ctrl + C on your Keyboard or Right Click > Copy then you can paste it as you did before via Ctrl + V on your keyboard or Right Click > Paste. It adds one more step, but at least the Upload Feature still works. Is it possible for you to give me a link to your Forums and make me a Dummy Account with privileges to use the Photobucket Image Uploader? I'd like to see the error in action myself, maybe that will help me out in trying to find a better fix.

fxlr8, thank you for allowing me access to your Forums which are running vB 3.7.x ... I looked and it seems like the error is being cause because of a conflict between the 3.7.x/3.6.10+ Code and the Photobucket Media Plugin Code. If this is truly the case, there is actually nothing I can do to resolve the issue, either vBulletin would have to find a fix and apply it to their code or Photobucket would have to find a fix and apply it to their Media Plugin Code ... Both of these are very highly doubtable that will happen. So basically put, the error with the Automatic Copying to Clipboard cannot be fixed at this time, sorry.

Please note that this error will only occur in vB 3.7.x & 3.6.10+, the vB 3.6.9 and earlier Series do not have this error.

When I select the drop down box (right click) and look for the PASTE to be active, it's not...

So, for whatever reason, the clicking of the IMG doesn't copy to clipboard for any of my users who tried to test this before release.

Also what version of vBulletin did you have installed when this error was happening? If you upgraded to the Latest Version (vB 3.6.10 PL1 or vB 3.7.1 PL1) then you should not have any issues as of now ...

Yep same with me. Would redirect to atspace, as well as a few other sites like ResellerHosting etc.

Can you guys elaborate on how exactly it redirected you. What you clicked and the steps I need to follow so that it does it. I just tried the Hack on my Forums and its not doing it.

It has to be a Photobucket Server Sided Error, but maybe they already fixed it.

I installed this but I don't have IMG code as an option to copy it only gives me HTML, anyway for me to fix this? Also when I tried to change the height, width, and colors, nothing changed for me.

Can you please explain a little better as to what you mean?

As far as the Colors do not enter the "#" when you input the HEX Color Code and for the Width & Height make sure you do not enter the "px" afterwards for "pixels" ...

oh sure, when I installed this and tested it, instead of having an [IMG] code to copy and paste, it only gave me HTML code <a href...> as the link to copy and paste. I could not figure out how to make [IMG] code the default.

Might be a vbulletin change but same problem as before, image codes states "copied" but it is not copied.

fxlr8, unfortuantely I am still running 3.6.10 on my Forums. I havent been able to update my vB License (it expired). I dont know when I'll get a chance to do so as money is a bit tight right now, so I wont be able to provide much support for those who are past vB 3.6.10.

Hi, Is anyone having issues with FireFox 3 with 3.6.10.

What happens is you put your id and password in then click login then it just goes to another login screen but it's smaller and if you try again it just goes back to the same screen

No error message or nothing. Just a big loop trying to login and keeps coming back to the same screen.

I tried it with FireFox 2 and it works fine.

Any ideas what's with 3?

This is a great add, i like it alot. There is one thing that i would like to see, and that is the aktivation link transformed to a button, so the integration becomes more vb-like. Is that possible?

hi, great mod

running fine on 3.8 with IE, but small problem with FF 3.05 in that the img link is not copied to the clipboard.

Its not the mod, as this works fine with IE, anyone else come across the same issue with FF??

Same problem in opera but fine in other browsers.

Have also noticed that it looks lsquashed in safari, i have also changed the background colour which is fine in other browsers.

The box at the bottom that displays the code to paste into the post, shows up on my browser as HTML code.....

The pics used at the top of this thread show the selection in the box to me vBulletin's IMG code .. :confused:

How do I get it to display the IMG only option on my site?

I deselected all of them except the vBulletin code, which I assume is the only thing I can do given only one field option in the mode.

Ok, did that and I'm still only getting the HTML cut-n-paste option in the bottom field box....

Any other ideas as to how to get it display like the pic in the demo example?

With kind permission from Dannyloski, I have now updated and integrated this hack into my v3.8.x Imageshack and Megaupload hack. See here for more information - Imageshack, MEGAUPLOAD & Photobucket Uploader. It is compatible with vBulletin v3.6.x, v3.7.x and v3.8.x., and upon installing the new hack, it will uninstall this hack automatically for you.

i prefer this version over the multione with multiple things in it..
i dont need or watn megaupload/imageshack..

Hello

I have had this mod installed for a few years and just recently I have been having problems with it.

When someone creates a new thread the page is redirected to Photobucket, the page that loads is the same iframe that usually is displayed in the new thread page.

This is also the case when replying to posts and quick reply.

I am not sure why it is redirecting as I have not done any changes to anything on my site, I think it might be a problem with the fetch command but I am not sure.

I have had to disable the mod so any help would be great.

Same issue with me .. whenever we click some where on forum or tries to reply it redirects to photobucket page. I have disabled this mod, was using it for last 2 years.. i havent made any changes to mod or forum from past 2 months dont know why it redirects from past 2 days...

Add one more to the malfunction list -3.8.6 pl1- its been working fine for us for a couple of years, then all of a sudden today it starts redirecting all new posts/replies to the photobucket login page... I will have to remove it from our site but wanted to report. Obviously photobucket has changed something about their login code that no longer jives with this hack...

I too was getting the error of the Photobucket iFrame reloading on the page and had to disable the modification. I looked over the code and concluded that it was a server-side (Photobucket) issue. I quickly contacted Photobucket and they just got back to me with this ...

I did just that and its now working fine for me. I hope this solves you guy's issue as well. Clearing the Cache (all of it) and flushing the DNS are the two most important step so make sure you do that.
