Usergroup Color Bar Legend

This hack shows the user group tags under the name of the active users. This is an easy but usefull for you to determine the order of the groups.

install

Go to your admin cp, then:
Plugin System -> Manage Products -> [Add/Import Product] -> Select 'product-ugcb.xml' from your computer then press 'Import'

I remember this hack when I used to run on IPB which was pretty much useful for me. I can't believe it's been done for vBulletin as well, finally! :D

Also.. why does yours look different than the installed version I get ?

You adjust colors for each user group via AdminCP> Usergroup Manager and adjust the HTML colors in the section titled Username HTML Markup

Such as:

<font color="#FF0000"><b> and </font></a></b> for Administrators to show as RED

I have specific colors for each skin as colors dont look right when you change between dark and light styles...

Will this do that?

the colors are assigned when you made your user groups. if you have admin in red then it will be red. If you have Mods in blue then it will be blue etc.

Where'd the </a> come from?

And the tag nesting is messy... try <font color="#FF0000"><b> and </b></font>

And better still use <span style="color:#FF0000; font-weight:bold;"> and </span>

Thanks for this. I had been using a different mod with vB3.6 that did a similar thing but after upgrading to 3.7 it broke. I'm glad this has been released to fill the gap.

I still don't understand why membership group legends are not a standard feature in vB yet. They are included as standard in other forums such as phpbb3. Very strange.

BTW, is there a way to have the legend appear under the currently online user names, rather than above it? Would you consider adding an option in the mods admin controls to select the location of the legend bar?

Installed and some what works for me.
Its enabled and I've adjusted the colors accordingly and it works when you look at the bottom of the forum.php. Who's the admin and mods etc each have thier own colors now. But when you actually look at the different forum posts the colors do not change?

I do notice at the bottom where it works if you hover over the members name the url shows up as http://www.(url).com/member.php?u=(number)

BUT

when hovering over a category post of the same members name the url that does NOT work is http://www.(url).com/member.php?find=lasposter&f=(number)

Any ideas?

Just one question. I have the usergroup titles translated (Administrador x Administrator) but in this mod shows the untranslated string from all of them.

The modifications removes the bullet from the first element, add a "Legend" title, and remove the default BOLD from all the groups. "$legend" phrase need to be created.

Colors work fine - but when I enable this hack it adds a second legend bar (shown below). When I disable it the legend and users are shown correctly. Anyone have any ideas on what's causing this?

Just a suggestion, I've installed this mod on many sites. Each time I've had to have two AdminCP's open so I could remember what each Usergroup's number is. It would be great to have some sort of preview option as well as a list of Usergroups and their number.
