Hi,

Ok, If I purchase a license I get 1 year of updates (patches I'd expect). But what about upgrades? eg 3.6.8 is being sold but 3.7 is less than a month away??

If I get 3.6.8 do I get a free upgrade to 3.7? (I guess it will be easy to migrate??).

Thanks

I believe you do get a free updates and upgrades while you are still in your subscription.

Of course. You get free updates/upgraded of the software for one year only until your license is active and not expired. So my advice for you is to just purchase the owned license as it is much better.

Thanks nyunyu and Snake.

Appreciate the response..

I might wait a couple of weeks for the 3.7... as I'll have to muck around upgrading it I believe.. unless the people at vbulletin can say how easy it will be to upgrade???

I want to buy 3x vbulls..

When you buy a vBulletin license, you have the right to use any vBulletin version, and they can be downloaded from the members' area.

You don't have to muck around to upgrade, the upgrade procedure will be like any other, and this is detailed in the vBulletin Manual (http://www.vbulletin.com/docs/html/).

I wouldn't wait for 3.7, as it might be a few weeks to a month or two down the road.

Upgrades are pretty painless, if you need help, you can post a thread here at vb.org and we'll try to help you out. :)

Ok, I'll take your word... appreciate the help. I'll check ot vb.org when I have some time..

Not having a Christmas sale by any chance? :D

nb: Hmmm ... I think there could be issues as I'd expect as any modifications (such as adding adsense etc) will have to be reworked into the new code.

Lol, the prices for licenses haven't moved for years, since they started selling it.

Yes, modifications will have to be reworked, but we don't know what will need to be done as we haven't gotten our hands on a copy of 3.7 yet.

Not all, but i guess that most modifications will still work on 3.7.

I think it'll be great to have a special price going on for this month. If I see a special, I'll buy more and more. :p

Yes, if they looked at market share and the untapped potential and did something more innovative like look at making upgrades more expensive but the intial board cheaper they might find that they'll make more money.

Most of us that have already used vbulletin are cheaper to administratively maintain and more likely to help vbulletin take more market share by simply scaling up our market presence.

I think vbulletin would take a quantum leap by simply providing that the board can take adsense into its framework. Which in fact blows me away considering that the whole net runs on adevrtising and these blog boards do actually need to pay for themselves otherwise we might as well get a free phpbb or other board...

So when's the Christmas sell out sale... boxing day special. Buy 2 boards and get the third for free.
