How Do I ... Limit access to specific user groups?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The obvoius answer I know is to change the access in that group so that they can not access the board. But what is the setting that I should change in the admincp? Or is it just one setting, or more than one?

There are times when we get inundated with ppl for various reasons, and I want the ability to only let VIP members and staff on the board for a certain amount of time.

Also, is there a way to have the restricted users see a message? Something like, "VIP access only at this time, Please return later"

Thanks for any help..

Go to AdminCP, Usergroups, Edit Usergroup.

On the usergroup that you would like to restrict access to, click on "go" which will take you to the edit page.

There you will find Yes / No options to what they can access. Just change them from yes to no (for the areas to restrict)

Hope this helps.

Thank alot for the reply. I actually know about that way to do it. I guess I was looking for any way to make it so that when the restricted folks come to the forum, they see a message like when the board is down, something like "restricted access, please come back soon" or something like that. I have seen other boards do this, I guess they must have modified it because I dont think there is anything in the "off the shelf" version ov vbulletin to do it. But thatnks for the suggestion, I will probably just do it that way. Thank you.
