Well it is public and I get loads of new members every day (20-75) but this one guy jus steals all our content and puts it on his site and he is mad at me because my site is a lot better than his (he gets 0-10 people per day lmfao) so anyways I have his IP (it is HIS actuall one as in not a proxies) so I banned that then he used peoxies and stuff,

So I thought I would use proxy re-director but t also redirects 99% of my non proxy users including me. So is there any way I can 100% stop him or even 90%???

By the way thanks in advance

There is NO way to 100% block him.

Options:
1. Moderate all new users and try to detect him (pain in the arse)

2. Ban his current user names & ip's

3. Install multi detection hack (again easy to bypass if he knows its there, simply delete all cookies from the browser & restart it.)

4. Create a new usergroup and require a numbered amount of posts to advance into a new usergroup you create that can view/post content/images, leaving the registered group to not be able to view content/images etc.

5. Require email confirmation in new signups

Overall just make it a pain in the arse for him to join and view.

Also worth using the miserable users mod to mess with his head a bit

Definitely go with the Miserable User mod...here's the link:

Kind of hard to use that hack when you don't know who he is.

You'll have to go find one mate and incorporate it into the site, if the one you used already isnt working, i would suggest you look over the code and the install inst. and make sure you installed it right.

If you do not enter your domain correctly it will redirect everybody...so make sure you did that correctly also.

The problem with the above mentioned suggestions is that they simply are of no guarantee. Steps in the right direction though. Also, if this user is worth their salt, the more you piss them off you risk retaliation even more. You just need to ask yourself is it really worth it. Another suggestion is to sent Coventry and just ignore the user. I've also had a recent problem where this user has been basically ripping off one of my sites for three years now. Thought he was a "friend" but I was wrong. Nothing really you can do.

How is setting a user to coventry going to stop him from accessing the site as the person wants?

Even though the user is in global coventry, its not going to stop him from stealing content.

You are correct, I just re-read the thread... I was thinking he was just harassing the forum. Didn't focus on the content-stealing part. You could do a combination IP Ban, Miserable users, and deny proxy entry, but the last will hurt more then the one user.

Yea, i was going to tell him that proxy blocking was going to block all proxies, including valid ones that AOL (<-- insert laughing) users have, i don't feel he will ever truely block him, the best thing to do is just irritate him on signup.

I would install the miserable user hack as stated above then when you do identify him don't do anything to him accept put him in the miserable users user group and slowly raise the page load delay until it is just to much work to get on your site.

What's this guy's site, maybe it would be better just to make a truce?
