I upgraded from 3.6.8 to the new one....i uploaded ll the upload files then i went to do the www.example.com/forum/install/upgrade.php and then signed in and when i signed into the admin cp it wont let me click on any of the items, if i do click on one then it just refreshes the page.... i have no idea, i tried back tracking and all

Not sure then, did it say that it completed all the upgrading steps? Did you change anything in the config.php file?

You shouldn't of changed anything in the config file for a simple upgrade.

No, for a upgrade, that info wouldn't of needed any changing, that is why config.php is named config.php.new when you upload it, so it don't overwrite your current config.php

okay, it then says to change it to config.php though and that overwrites it

If you didn't change the physical DB name / username / passwd, then you dont need to do that for future reference.

I doubt it.
Re-upload all the files and make sure you select overwrite.
