What is Name That Tune

Well name that tune is a sinple game for your members to play.
You view a tune you want to play and click the play button,
listen to the tune and then see if you know what the song is.
If you get the song right you win the jackpot, but if you get
it wrong the cost of play is added to the jackpot.

This is a simple but fun add-on to your vbulletin site.

NO CASH NAME THAT TUNE SYSTEM

I have added a zip file that does not use a cash system.
It has a multiplyer and a timer for playing.
You set the timer for the game and set how much will be won by
some thing like this

Multiplyer*timeleft ( 25*15 )
this would be the users score.

If they answer wrong it will add what is set in the settings for that game like

Multiplyer+If Wrong ( 25+10)

So in afect if a player gets it wrong it makes the multiplyer go up, and makes it better for the player who gets it right as the multiplyer will be higher.

There is a new download for the name that tune.

New install

INSTALLING

Unzip the zip file mmnamett.zip
Upload the content of the UPLOAD folder to your forums root.
Loggin to your admincp
and goto Manage Products
click on [Add/Import Product]
and browse for the product-mmnamethattune.xml file
Allow Overwrite ( NO )
click import

You have completed the install.

UPGRADING

If you are using the Cash Version upgrading is simple

Unzip the zip file mmnamett.zip
Upload the content of the UPLOAD folder to your forums root.
Loggin to your admincp
and goto Manage Products
click on [Add/Import Product]

UPGRADING NO CASH SYSTEM

To upgrade the no cash system you will have to uninstall the version you have now,
and do a new install of this script.


SETTING UP

Now that you have installed your new name that tune script,
you will have to update the settings to suit your needs.

Active the name that tune for your members to be able to view the script.
Choose the cach system you are going to use.

Settings finished.

Now that you have updated your settings for name that tune,
you will need to set the settings for each usergroup.
click on Usergroup Manager
edit all usergroups and find
Name That Tune Permissions
and set who can view and who can play the games.

CHANGES MADE

The changes made from the old version to this one is

Cash version and no cash version in one not two different zip files there is only one that does both mods.

If you use the no cash version if a players score has been beaten it will PM the person that there score has been beaten.

In this version i have stopped members from sending in more scores to one tune as this version will check to see if they have a score already and will show them a error message if they have.

In this version i have added an inline modcp where you will be able to let sertain members mod your past winners and mod the tunes.
Also in the admincp for inporting mp3s it automaticly creates the categories for you.
If you try to put in the same category it will install the mp3s to that cat and will not make a new category.

This is a java upload system when you have choosen your mp3 to upload the upload will begin,
Letting you put in the info for the rest of the tune like tune title description category cost jackpot and the count down timer.

Then you click on save file and it will add your tune to the database.

In the settings you can choose any of the cash tables for the casino you are on able the table is casino_cash
So in the settings to name that tune you would put for the cash setting casino_cash
and it will work.

The idea of this is to have a small peace of music playing in the mp3 player.
Without any Lyrics just music this makes it harder for them to find out the answer.
I will make more mp3 files up and post them as a pack for uploading to your name that tune script.

As you will see that most of the tunes you will add will only be about 4 to 6 seconds of play for that peace of music.
The shorter the play time the harder it is for them to guess what the tune is.

Thats a good idea but some clips as you put it might take a bit of time for you to here.
So it would be better to have the count down a setting for each clip and maybe have the clip play automaticly.
This would be a count down timer in the mp3 player saying you have X amount of time to answer or you will automaticly lose X points as it will send the answer even if they have not answered.

Plus I think iove found an easier way to score it. The below example is based on a ten second clip.

I will look into this now working the no cash one and get back to you on this.

I see what you mean about the scoring,
The quicker they get it from the start of the song or what every you are having them guess the higher the score.
I could sort it that a player can only win once per mp3 so that the name that tune can stay open for other players to try the same mp3 out and try and beat the top scorer.

I will work on the no cash system a bit more and post any updates soon.

Login to your admincp goto Style Manager
Find the template called mmnamett_play_tunes_bit and change that template to this.

I will make it that the members can only guess once per mp3
Ill replace the Play button
When adding a mp3 you can set the timer limit thats already there
making the "Enter Your Guess Here" vanish will be done in next release

And you can criticise all you want as this helps me make it better for me as well as you.

Hmmm its not that hard is it

the files in the folder admincp goto the folder in your forum admincp
the folder called images goes to your images folder
the includes folder goes to your includes folder

the mmnamett.php goes to the root of your forum

I think that almost everyone that is on here has installed at leased 1 script before and therefore know how to install by now.

Sorry, I do not see that in the MMNAMETT template. Only thing I see with anything that says name that tune is:

Hi all

Im in the process of updating this script.
What i have done is put the cash system and the no cash system all in one script.
It will have 2 swf files come with it and when in the admincp settings of the name that tune you choose if you want to use a cash system or not and the script will choose the right swf file to use.

I will post some screen shots when i have sorted more out on the admin side of things.

I have just finished testing the new script and all is working fine.
I will be adding the new script some time today or tomorrow.

The new version is both cash and no cash system in one,
in the settings you will choose if you want the cash system or if you want the no cash system.

All templates will change to what one you choose.
im also sorting out when you beat someones top score it will PM the old player that had the top score.

This really is a fantatsic program, but ive just done 25 theme tunes (load, cut in size, resave, upload, import) and it takes so much time.

I have found that there is an array error only when you are on the home page of the name that tune script.

There is away to keep the file names you use for a file thats being uploaded, but the import system i will make will be a xml import, so the only thing that you will have to do is upload the mp3 files to the tunes folder.
Also you might have to edit the xml file and change the categorie its being install in, or i might try and sort it so thats an option in the import to choose the categorie the tunes are for.

Hi all

Just a quick update.

I have just finished adding in a import sustem and have just tested it and all is working.

With the import system added you can just upload the MP3 files to the tunes folder then login to admincp name that tune import MP3s and hay you have just imported 10 tunes in one go, i have also added that you choose what categorie you put the tunes into.

I will update the zip file later tonight and post here that the zip has been updated ones i have finished updating a few more things.

I just tried the import with the xml file and it works fine, but it seems to put all the files into one category or am I doing something wrong. Is there anyway to separate the categories or do you half to do this separately and manually?

Scroll this screen up to downloads and you will see the xml.zip file. Unzip and click name that tune options from your admincp and import .xml file. Works fine for me. :)

When you click on the import option in name that tune you will see that you can select the category at the top of the page.

Thats how you change the categories for your mp3 on import.

Hi there

I have now fixed it so members cannot go back and try again to beat there scores.
If they do when they send the scores it will check to see if they have a score already and will show them a error message if they have a score.
If they dont have a score it will save the score as before.

In the error message it says if you do have more then one score per tune you could be band for cheating.

This error message can be changed in the phrases manager just look for
phrase mmnamett_already_played_part1

And change to your needs

sorry for the problem i missed some thing in the product.xml file

I have made this version 1.4 as many of you would have installed and upgraded to version 1.3 already.

Just re upload all files in the UPLOAD folder to your forum root.
And import the new product.xml to install version 1.4

This will fix the database errors you have been having

This is why you see the name of the tune you have put in

she's hot

It has a ' in it this is why you are getting this error,
I will make the fix for this tomorrow and send out a update E-mail letting you all know when i have updated the zip file here.

Or you could edit the tune title and take out the ' for now so that it will work till i bring out version 1.5 witch will have all the fixes and mew MP3 players.

I have been working on more tune packs as well and will be released when i finish version 1.5.

Hope to have 3 more tune packs with 20 tunes in each and im also hoping to change they way we import the tunes.
At the moment you have to make a categorie before you import but this change will make the categorie for you when you import and will also see if that categorie is there and will not remake that categorie.

At the start of the import .xml file we have this

There is no need to do an upgrade as the error was in one of the PHP files for listing the tunes.

When a user gets an answer right, it becomes closed. So others dont even see the tune, or get the option to have a guess.

I dont get what you mean here i know you would like to change the title of the script to tune or movie but why not just make a new category and call it movies or would you like it where it playes part of the movie then they could guess what film its from or some thing like that.

Hi all

Im still working on version 1.6 and its coming along.

When you view a category you will be able to order the tunes by title, Description, Cost, Jackpot and by Hits.

Also in the modcp im adding in a tune upload where your mods will be able to add tunes for them selfs limited to 3 uploads per go.
The reason for this is that they would have to have FTP access to your tunes dir, but we as site owners dont want to give this out to everyone but want some members to be mods.
This is why they will be able to upload 3 tunes in one go.
They will put in the title, description, answer of the tune they are adding,
the rest will be done in the background so they will not know where the tune is uploaded to or what the files name will be as it will be given a new file name.

More to come when i know what to add.

If guys are submitting tunes and the answer requires an apostrophe somewhere in the answer, it creates a database error .. SQL doesn't like apostrophe's.

As each webmaster sets them different its a pain editing them one by one.

Could a check also be done during an import to check if the catagory already exists. I accidentally added one twice *DOH*

Oh, and a master option to say if the song is open/closed after a correct answer.

1. I am using vbcredits on my forum and I tried to put that in the cash system and I got a database error when I pulled up the ntt. I looked at vbookie cash system setting, and I have "Credits" in that name. I tried that and it doesn't recognize any credits. Can someone help me what to put in that field please? Of course it won't let me try any songs cause there is no credit...

2. It seems when you pull up any songs in the ModeCp... it defaults to options that were not there before... so I have to change everything back to what they were... It should read what was in the settings before... because when you start getting many categories and different settings, it is hard to keep track.

Yeah... you have to edit each song and put time in the "timer" field. I made mine 30 seconds... that should be plenty of time on some hard ones too... But then again, I haven't got this working yet. Ok.. that worked... can't understand that we have different programs using the cash system, but require different ways to enter it... vbookie requires it to be Credits, with the capital C.

Anywho... that is corrected. Now I go into the prgram and select a song from a category... and I hear nothing. No sound at all. I don't see a guage like media player either. Any help with this? My sound works just fine with Windows media or winamp... on websites and mp3s....

If this can be fixed quickly, I'll have to uninstall and move on until it can be fixed!

I have this installed on a few sites and there is no problems with playing the tunes,
the only thing it might be is the tune is still downloading to your player and will not play till its ready to.
Again i will have alook into this and see if there is any errors but its working on all other sites i have it installed on.

Man, this program has alot of issues... I just tried to delete a category... and it errors and states category NOT deleted... Can we get these things fixed please?

Yeah... you have to edit each song and put time in the "timer" field. I made mine 30 seconds... that should be plenty of time on some hard ones too... But then again, I haven't got this working yet. I am using vbcredits and anything I put in the cash system either doesn't recognize it, or I get a db error. There are quite a few other issues that I listed... Hopefully the author is watching this and fixes things quick...

I will be adding in a multi change jackpot timer and so on in next release.

Ok.. that worked... can't understand that we have different programs using the cash system, but require different ways to enter it... vbookie requires it to be Credits, with the capital C.

Anywho... that is corrected. Now I go into the prgram and select a song from a category... and I hear nothing. No sound at all. I don't see a guage like media player either. Any help with this? My sound works just fine with Windows media or winamp... on websites and mp3s....

Since you can add your own music, if people guessed it right, how would it know that the user was guessing correctly with your own music?

I have installed it now, imported it to my forums using AdminCP and I have uploaded all the files to my root directory as well as repeated it to get the money upgrade... But I can't find where to acess the options anywhere on my forums. Can you help please? Thanks

To go and play the name that tune on your site you will need to add a link to your site pointing to http://www.yoursite.com/mmnamett.php

My mod's can not upload. They can browse to the song but it never gets past the " please wait uploading.... " portion , you can enter in all the other info but it never completes the upload

Have you put all the settings in and CHMOD'ed the tunes folder to 777.
In the settings you should have some thing like this.

Upload Dir Enter the upload dir here I.E. ( /home/somename/public_html/forum/tunes ) No trailing /


/home/????????/public_html/YOURFORUM/tunes


Tunes Folder Name Enter the the tunes folder I.E. ( tunes ) No trailing /This is where your tunes will be stored.

If these are not set right it will not work.

hehe , if I had it working right, I would , but my mods can't upload a song and have it play , as a matter of fact , I can't login to the ModCP and upload one and have it play either. I don't know why , but any song I put in through the built in interface , does not work. I have to upload them with ftp first , and then they work, but the java upload does something to the tune, it's not playing. I have the 'tunes' folder chmodded to 777 , I don't know what else to try.

One thing I added since I like to keep my templates organized is an extra plugin.
New Plugin:
Product: Name That Tune
Hook Location: vBulletin; General Administration --> template_groups
Title: Name That Tune
Plugin PHP Code: $only['mmnamett'] = 'Name That Tune';

Take out the closing script as mentioned there is nothing to stop him going back to answer it again.

What is needed is a question identifying number and another table to say what member number has answered what question number. That way they cant go back and keep answering it. I would prefer that to closing it after a correct one. Closing it after any answer to an individual. Would this be too hard to program in?

Installed and somewhat pleased although a couple minor observations resulted in my tiny wish list:

Most importantly, I'd love to lose case-sensitivity as I seem to have every combination of users - some of which mention that titles are generally Proper Case and have apostrophe's and such. I spent too much time griping at users for ALL UPPER CASE or no punctuation to ignore them on this one... (In other words, I believe they're typing in exactly what the liner notes state as a title...)

In the administration area, it would be nice if it were categorical as with 40 or 50 tunes, it's quite a page...
