(i searched and couldn't find, so if it IS on here, i apologise)
Just wondering if there is a hack that will convert the video attachments to FLV when uploaded, and stream them via an FLV player instead of downloading them (like YouTube)
Thanks :)

No. To do dynamic conversions and streaming you will need a dedicated server or at least VPS. There is software that needs to be installed on the server so with shared hosting you dont get that access.
You can do some kind of workaround though. Instead of streaming (Flash Media Services/Server) you could create your swf player to play the flvs that you upload. It will be a partly manual process but I havent found anything that can be scripted for free or low costs or that would run on shared hosting.
I havent finished it yet but I am real close to getting it all working on a shared hosting service. :D

You can only stream them with some sort of server app but to play them if they are uploaded to your site is easy but then they will be downloaded to the users temp files.
Basically anything that the user can view can be copied so its impossible to fully protect flvs.
There are some good video file to flv converters out there and some for low cost but you will need one that supports batch commandline scripting and those usually are not free.

A hack for photopost? Why pay so much when its in vB 3.7 for free.
I recently got my 100% fully integrated YodaTube Video Sharing™ working. Works on shared, vps, or dedicated hosts running vB :D

Ummm you can't automatically convert video files from AVI, WMI, MPEG or anything else to the Flash format (FLV) without a server side conversion.
If it works on "shared" it's because the hosting provider has ffmpeg and all the other necessary server side components installed, which most do not.
It's not in vB for free vB doesn't have any member photo/video system that's fully released with their product that has the same options and flexibility of Photopost. The insert image to a thread is terrible. And for inverting video I'm not talking about sticking them in a regular thread, or external linking to a youtube video

Neither am I.
vB 3.7 is in beta 2 currently but when its out it will render photopost and other similar addons useless. Should be out very soon.
My AddOn is more specific to hosting videos on your own site and mimicing youtube. No linking or embeding to external sites.
