is it safe to think that , all the plugins running on my forums right now with vb 3.6.5 are going to work when i update to the new vb 3.6.8 patch level 1 ?

You should check the addon/hack threads for updates related your your upgrade to 3.6.x, i wouldn't assume they will work.
