Set up promotios under Usergroups in the ACP.

i did it this way:

first you need to create that usergroup where you want the users with specific number of posts to be transfer to.

then in AdminCP>User Groups>Promotion>

click on Add New Promotion

for the first option "Usergroup" select your user's default group (registered?)
and then in front of "Posts" set the value you want

for the "Promotion Strategy" set it to "posts"

let the Promotion Type be primary and finally "Move User to Usergroup" select that user group that you just created.

since you already have members... i think you also need to REBUILD USERS in Maintenance>update counter im not sure. i dont remember how it did it

thanks.
i'm getting many options .. like posts/posts * date etc.
i want 100+ posts and 30days to add users automatically to that usergroup.
Which option will be appropriate?

and should i keep in additional usergroup or primary?

if i keep additional usergroup then in posts and profile will it display that they belongs to this usergruop and fontcolour of usergroup will be visible?

or will it be visible in primary usergroup?

------------

after doing all this do i have to do anything or users will be promoted automatically?

You do not have to rebuild users. Go into the Scheduled Task Manager and run the User Promotions job. I also changed that job on my board to run every 15 minutes, instead of the default 1 hour.

that all depends on you and your member's behavior.
for me i set it as 50 post and my reason was that i didnt want to have my board filled up with similar threads. so i tell my new users that they cannot post a topic until after they reach 50 posts. That way they get a sense of how things are done in the board and if there is a thread they want to start, maybe a similar one is already made!

Primary is what you should go for.

the idea of having additional group is if you want your user to be in several groups at the same time BUT you have:

GROUP A = under 100 post - cant post threads
GROUP B = over 100 post - can post threads

they should be either in A or B
so you need to completely move them. they cant be in both

Scheduled Task Manager does it automatically for you. you can change the schedual if you want but it does it automatically every X mins. you can change X of course.

i wasn;t asking that. :)
misunderstanding.

i was asking which option i should select for that.
there are several options like posts or [rep & date] , Posts & date or rep etc.

i just want these 2 conditions - posts and date.. no rep at all..
suggest me option which shd be select for it?

-------

will users remain in promoted group forever or for certain duration?
