Not have to set moderator permissins individually

Is there a hack where I can add someone to the moderator group and they get moderator permissions or do I have to do them all forum by forum?

You might take a look at this (https://vborg.vbsupport.ru/showthread.php?t=92351&page=3). It's for 3.5 but worked on 3.6 when I was still using it. The last poster in the thread, however, says that it doesn't work on 3.6.8.
