Hello all :)
I've got a little problem with the avatar.
I would like to use the option "Custom avatar", with "Please enter the URL of your image:"
When I put an URL like : http://webphoto/photo/photo.jpg it doesn't work.
It's normal? Can I do something to solve this problem?
The error is: "Invalid URL". It's a good URL...
I have a server with all my community photos, that they are not on the same of my vBulletin forum.
Thanks in advance for your help.

That is not a valid URL.

That is not a valid URL.
It must be URL like: http://www. ? I think so :(
I'll open a ticket to vb.com to know if they can change it for the next release.
Thanks Marco for your reply :)

No, "http:/webphoto" does not even have a TLD (Top Level Domain). It should at least be something like "webphoto.com".
Try opening the URL you provided in your browser......it will not work.

Yes, the domain webphoto was for the example. so it doesn't work.
But the problem exist with a real domaine.
The forum is based on intranet access, like http://intranet/forum (it's an example).
The URL I had entered was like : http://webphoto/photo/photo1.jpg (URL valid).
This URL only works on intranet mode, and when I put this type of URL for the avatar, it does'nt work, as I said on my first post.

It's hard to troubleshoot something without a valid url. Some photo uploading sites are using htaccess to disallow people from doing what you are trying to do (using their uploaded images on other sites). We can't tell if that is the case when you aren't providing us with a valid url.

It's not a photo uploading site, only external server.
When I write http://webphoto/photo/pgoto1.jpg on my browser, I can see the photo...

So, what you are saying is that that is a valid URL for where you are located, however vBulletin is rejecting the url as not valid (and it isn't valid outside of where you are)? Are you trying to upload the image to vBulletin to use as an avatar? Why not just download it to your computer and then upload it with the Browse button?

Because I would likle to use the vBulletin option ;) But if it's not possible, it's why I must to do

OK, I'll test it tomorrow in my job.
For information, Steve Machol say to me: "Yes, of course it is possible. You have to use a valid URL and your PHP has to have 'allow_url_fopen' turned on."
I'll test it tomorrow too
