I'm currently reskinning my board and I'm going through vbulletin's templates and pulling out all unnecessary tables (note - not all tables -- forum thread listings and forumlistings are by nature tabular data and so should be displayed with tables). Once this is complete would anyone be interested in using this as a starting point to build a vbCSSdefault style?

That's already done in a lot of sites... i think that the best thing would be to create a sandbox style that Jelsoft would be able to integrate in 4.0 so people can play in CSS...
btw, i already suggested that to Jelsoft guys, they forgot about it the moment i talked about it... even if i provided a 90% table-less style...

Ok, figured as much. It would be a nice item to have though. All the same I am making some changes that are Search Engine related that go beyond simply CSS'ing things. For instance, making use of header tags to wrap forum and thread titles where listed.

Not all CSS-based styles are the same. Some are better designed than others. It's also nice to have options. There are often requests for CSS styles so I think it's a cool idea if it's something you want to do.
A while ago Kier challenged the community in a CSS-based style that will function and display the same as with vB's table layout. I'm tempted in accepting his challenge. :)

I'm not going to that much effort unless there's a bounty on it.

I find this challenge completely stupid for one reason, the actual style is not even useful... 90% of the sites i know are using styles based on a complete different look... so why build a CSS compliant style with an obsolete look...
it is time to update the look by providing something people will use in the future, not something that will look like the past.

the typical forum layout is here to stay - it's not an "obsolete look" (using <table> is)
all we need is a base style that can be extended - there's nothing wrong with making a CSS style that is based on vB's table layout

I've been building in my spare time a CSS Based template, for the Layouts, Menus, etc, etc The only thing that will be left in standard tables will be the Forum Data ( That is what tables are made for to display Data ) but the actual Layout will be CSS, I already have a Ugly Prototype of this made and I will be releasing it here on VB.org when it is finished. Which will be within 2 weeks time probably
