I would like to install this, but before I do, can you tell me how to enter it into the QUICKLINKS submenu under Miscellaneous? That is where I would like it to be called from

Thanks for the thanks.
@Doctor Death: You'd need to create a PHP file (attached - FTP it to your main forum directory), edit the vB navbar template to add a link to the file (you can do that part via the ACP), and deactivate the plugin in this mod (you can do that part too via the ACP).

how to make it more than 3 items?

@Lionel: AFAIK thefreedictionary.com only offers three items. If you want more, you'd need to find a different feed and/or possibly edit the mod.

Great mod, calorie. Just curious though, what would the complexity level be to have a new "Today in History" thread created automatically every day?

I agree and I am waiting on this reply... I haven't installed yet, but I am not sure I want another navbar option... I have too many and this would be cool as a new thread to read everyday... perhaps make it read only. I'd like to set it up that way....

@tuankm123: don't see why not but haven't tested it so you'd need to test it to be sure.
@princeedward: IIRC there are threads on vbadvanced.com outlining how to make modules.
@Daniel and @ezurick: there are some threads around here that can give you some ideas:

Nice, I would also like it to create a thread every day and give my members the option to discuss the stories, I have had a look at the links you posted above but that is far too advanced for me.
Unfortunately I won't install it until it has that feature, but nice addon all the same.

This is a great mod but and I am keen to intergrate a mod along these lines but a little more simliar to POSTNUKEs module Quotes.
I have been scanning the forums to see if there is something our there but so far no joy.
I love the idea of a history newsarticle, if this was RSS fed you could run this from one of your own forums, maybe.... hmmm bit of moding their of date generation.
Anyway, great mod, I am going to watch and see how it plays out before I install.
In the interim, if anyones knows of a quote module similar to Post nuke, please PM/email me.
Cheers:D

I am either at a loss or this thing just loses its juice. I have it pulling a different rss feed than the default one. The links to the feed disappear though and I have to manually run the scheduled task even though I have it set to run now every 5 minutes. I don't get it at all. The only thing that will keep the links there is to do exactly that. ??? I did bump it up to five feeds instead of three if that made a difference?
