I can't think of once in all the time since its been a drop down menu I've actually used the drop down menu for anything. Its made my life have more clicks then nessary.

.. if you deactivate the "Use 'vBMenu' DHTML Popup Menus?" on the whole site, sure you will have links instead of popups...
ok, i missread your request... lol.. you want it unique now... yeah, maybe it would be good.. lol

I would have to agree, I would rather click once.... I would also like to see the "Today's Post's" back in the quick links as well.

No offense, but if you can't find it within yourself to click two things rather than one, then you've got bigger problems.. :erm:

The point is kirk i shouldn't have to click twice. Its an unessary and useless modification to the navbar which i doubt anyone is actually using for what it was put there for.

hum, actually i'm at the opposite of Zachery on that one... i always found useless to have the Quick Links menu as the main goal was to reproduce a part of the usercp... having the User CP link used as where we find everything user related is great... :)

@ Zachery~Wow! Don't you have other things in your life to worry about that how many times you need to click? Stir, stir, stir that pot, Dude.http://i22.tinypic.com/2d2nnd.gif Geez, I mean, really.
BTW, yeah, some people DO use that feature.

My entry point to vb.org is the usercp itself, my favorites link points directly to it.
So I don't mind either way. I use the usercp/quicklinks combo to go to my profile and installed mods though.

Assuming it was put there to make going to specific areas within the UserCP easier, then many (including myself) are finding it useful. It saves clicks when I want to view my Private Messages.

It saves clicks when I want to view my Private Messages. You can click the "unread messages" text on the top right to be even more efficient :p

Assuming I want to read a new private message, yes. However, I often refer to old messages regarding custom work details, correspondence, etc.

It takes you to all your private messages, irrespective of whether they are unread.

if true, than you wouldn't have this problem...
Its made my life have more clicks then nessary.
I'm puzzled.
The pros outweighs the cons - hence, why it's a popular feature.

I mean I have not ever used any links BESIDEs the usercp link.
I have to click more to get to where I am going, often I end up clicking on my private messages which I could care less about.
There are no plans to change the link.
Would you mind adding the edit avatar link to the drop-down? I change mine all the time and I hate having to click twice. ;)
Yay for begin lazy! :p

Marvin the paranoid robot (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marvin_the_robot) rocks and you know it.
Wish I would have seen this post before I changed it again. I would have kept the old one longer just out of spite. :p

Why is it that I always manage to start an avatar war?
Thanks for the link in the drop down BTW.

Mine's the greatest avatar ever.
...I could care less about
That's one phrase that really grinds my gears. If you could care less, then do so.
If you couldn't care less, I'd sympathise more :p

Best of both worlds: Change it so if you double-click "User CP" it takes you straight to the control panel, and if you single-click it, it opens the popup. That way me and Zach can just double-click instead of single-clicking twice. :)

But that's the same number of clicks. And provided you can move your mouse accurately, you can do it with a double click as it is now. Try it. :)

My point exactly  clicking twice in the same place is much easier and faster than clicking once, moving the mouse, and clicking again. Irregardless of your dexterity, the former is still easier & quicker than the later. In addition, we're already conditioned to do single and double clicks, so a single double-click is really no more effort than a single single-click.
And you can't do it as a double-click currently, the menu simply doesn't open fast enough. You try it :)

I like it as is.
If I don't want to drop menus, I'll click and drag it to the adress bar (very easy and simple way).

An answer was already given to this suggestion...the benefits outweigh the single con (which is not really a con to begin with in my opinion). Users who just want to visit the User CP will have to take the few millaseconds required to click twice to acces it.

You could always open it in a new tab which would take you straight to the usercp page. (Ctrl+Click in FF or Middle mouse button/wheel click in FF/IE7)

I think the avatar sizes need to be increased for regular members ...all my good ones are at least 100 x 100 px :\

I'll jump on the bandwagon and contribute by saying...
User CP with sub-categories in drop-down form is useful. On the other hand, Quick Links I find to be wasted space. The sub-categories can be consolidated to the "Help" or "Search" links. New Posts should remain as a unique link but Members List should be in the "Search" links.
Or are we now talking about avatars? :erm: Because if that were the case then my creations will win hands-down. LOL. :D

As princeton stated, the pros outweigh the cons if indeed it is actually a con. What are the chances of you zach going into your cp judging by your comment made in this thread? rarely if never if you want to be honest about the whole thing. Sour grapes for dinner.

No need to give him sour grapes. :) Some of us think it's a con others think its a pro. Zach probably isn't commenting here because he has better things to do than argue a moot point, since Paul already stated that there are no plans to change it.

You see that unsubscribed icon you just clicked could have been better used going into your cp?
My point being, many of us have felt the impact of changes made here. you'll soon learn that trying to enduce such changes won't happen here especially such changes proposed by zach which seem petty. Heck, I remember the days when it took me a single click to get to the image database to support my modifications, now it takes me 3-4 clicks. Like I said, sour grapes for dinner, even for me. I bare the scars they come in the form of 20 infraction points which I'm growing to love, pity it's expired. :)
